1. Mumbai tops the list of most vulnerable cities to cyberattacks in 2019
Quick Heal Security Labs in its report titled “The Annual Threat Report 2019” has disclosed that Mumbai topped the list of 15-city which are more vulnerable to cyberattcks in 2019. The other two cities which followed Mumbai are: Delhi and Bengaluru.
The report has also revealed that Maharashtra, Delhi and West Bengal are the top three states which are prone to cyberattacks.

2. India ranked 117th in Kids Right Index
Kids Right Index has ranked countries on the basis of how much they adhere to and are equipped to improve child rights. India ranked 117th out of 181 countries and Iceland topped the ranking followed by Portugal.

3. UAE launched ‘golden card’ permanent residency scheme
The United Arab Emirates has launched ‘golden card’ permanent residency scheme to woo wealthy investors and exceptional talents such as doctors, engineers, scientists, students and artist. This move can attract Indian professionals and businessmen to UAE and total 6,800 people will get benefit of the scheme under the first round of applications. The program was launched by UAE Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al-Maktoum

1. WORLD BANK AND CBA JOINED HANDS FOR WORLD’S FIRST BLOCKCHAIN BOND TRANSACTION
International Bank for Reconstruction and Development in partnership with Commonwealth Bank of Australia enabled recording of secondary market bond trading using blockchain technology.  With this, Bond-i become the first bond whose issuance and trading is recorded on a blockchain platform.

2. RBI DIRECTED BIGGER NBFCS TO APPOINT CHIEF RISK OFFICER
The Reserve Bank of India has directed Non-Banking Finance Companies which have assets over Rs 5000 crore to appoint a chief risk officer. The rationale behind this direction is to improve standards of risk management practices of NBFCs.

3. UNESCO INCORPORATED INDIAN PART OF KAILASH MANSAROVAR IN TENTATIVE LIST OF WORLD HERITAGE SITES

Centre has issued a “drought advisory” to six states named Maharashtra, Gujarat, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Tamil Nadu.

2. TRIPURA GRAMIN BANK AMONG TOP RRB PERFORMER IN COUNTRY
Tripura Gramin Bank is among India’s top three Regional Rural Banks in terms of profit, business and growth. Currently India has 46 Regional Rural Bank out of which Tripura Gramin Bank ranked 3rd in the country.
In Tripura Gramin Bank, central government has a 50% stake, the Union Bank of India has 35% stake and rest 15% is held by the Tripura government.

1. INDIA’S FASTEST TRAIN ‘VANDE BHARAT EXPRESS’ COMPLETED 1 LAKH KILOMETERS WITHOUT MISSING SINGLE TRIP
The indigenously-built high-speed train was manufactured by the Integral Coach Factory in Chennai.

2. US PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP ROLLED OUT NEW ‘MERIT-BASED IMMIGRATION SYSTEM’
US President Donald Trump unveiled a new ‘Merit-Based Immigration System’. This is a point based system for professionals where skills of the people will be preferred for permanent residency against the current country based quotas which requires family ties for green cards. It will replace the existing green cards with ‘Build America’ visa.
Under the new plan, 57% of the proportion of green cards or lawful permanent residence status will be given to people with skill-based visas as against the present rate at 12%. In addition to this, immigrants are required learn English and pass a civics exam prior to admission.

3. IN HARDA DISTRICT OF MADHYA PRADESH WOMEN HANDLE ENTIRE WORK OF COUNTING VOTES AS WELL AS MANAGE SECURITY
In Harda district of Madhya Pradesh, women will handle the entire work of counting votes. This initiative is the first of its kind.

United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction granted the prestigious Sasakawa Award 2019 for Disaster Risk Reduction to, Dr. Pramod Kumar Mishra in 6th Session of Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction 2019 at Geneva, Switzerland.
The theme of the 2019 Sasakawa award was titled “Building Inclusive and Resilient Societies”.
The other winners are:

1. 11th India Iran Joint Consular Committee Meeting  
The 11th India Iran Joint Consular Committee Meeting held in New Delhi
The purpose of this meeting is to review the status of ongoing cooperation in consular and visa related issues and also to discuss the strategy to further expand people to people contacts and to promote friendly exchanges between India and Iran.
Both countries have discussed some important issues between India and Iran:
  • Early conclusion of Agreement on Mutual Legal Assistance on civil and commercial matters.
  • To extend longer duration of e-Visa for each other nationals on reciprocity.
  • Visa facilitation for greater people to people contacts etc.

2. The highest graphite reserves of India are found in Arunachal Pradesh: GSI
According to Geological Survey of India, the highest graphite reserves of India, that is, around 35% of India’s total Graphite reserves are found in Arunachal Pradesh.
The data was presented during GSI’s annual interactive meeting with the Department of Geology and Mining & Industries, Government of Arunachal Pradesh in Itanagar.
Arunachal Pradesh could now be developed as the leading producer of graphite in India to meet the nations’ future needs, since currently, India imports the majority of Graphite from other nations.

3. Taiwan becomes the first country in Asia to legalise same-sex marriage
Taiwan’s parliament legalised same-sex marriage, as lawmakers passed a bill permitting same-sex couples to form ‘exclusive permanent unions‘ which would let them apply for a ‘marriage registration’ with government agencies.
The vote took place on the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia, observed on 17th May.
The only places in the broader Asia-Pacific region to have passed gay marriage laws are Australia and New Zealand.
