1) ISRO BAGGED GANDHI PEACE PRIZE 2014:
A. Indian Space Research Organization bagged Gandhi Peace Prize 2014.
ISRO’s launch of Mars Orbiter Mission (MOM) at a very cost effective price of Rs. 450 crore, made India the first Asian country to enter the Martian sphere of influence.
B. Gandhi Peace Prize was instituted in the year 1955 on the occasion of 125th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and is awarded for social, economic and political transformation through non-violence.
C. ISRO had launched various research and communication satellites. It also contributes to the Nation’s development through satellite based education, health care and connectivity to community activities for sustainable economic development.

B. This was the 9th Edition of Earth Hour which was started in 2007.
C. As a commitment to the planet, all non-essential lights are switched off for one hour on the last Saturday of March.
