2.   India’s first ‘Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS)’
ü Gujarat has launched India’s 1st trading program called “Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS)” in Surat, Gujarat to combat particulate air pollution.
ü It  is a market-based system where the government sets a cap on emissions and allows industries to buy and sell permits (in kilograms) to stay below the cap. For this reason, ETS is also called a cap-and-trade market.

1. HRD MINISTRY LAUNCHES NEW UGC SCHEME “PARAMARSH” FOR HIGHER EDUCATION
Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’, Union Minister for Human Resource Development launched a Scheme called “Paramarsh” of University Grants Commission in New Delhi.
This scheme aims at mentoring National Accreditation and Assessment Council accreditation aspirant institutions to develop quality assurance in Higher Education.
Under the scheme, the prime Mentoring institutions will provide regular mentoring to colleges to help achieve high-quality standards. For mentoring they will get the financial assistance & also the option of appointing an expert, who can be paid a fellowship amount of Rs 31,000 per month.

2. 8TH EDITION OF HAND-IN-HAND MILITARY EXERCISE 2019
The 8th edition of Hand-in-Hand Military exercise 2019 between India, China will be held on December 2019 at Umroi near Shillong in Meghalaya.
The exercise will focus on transnational counter-terror operations, the establishment of a joint command post, joint combat, and humanitarian assistance and disaster relief missions.
The 7th edition was held at Chengdu, China in December 2018.

i.  Union Government has announced list of 305 cities to be covered in Housing for All scheme
ii.  ‘Housing for All’ scheme is launched for construction of houses for the urban poor.

2.  US EXTENDS ANTI DUMPING DUTY ON INDIAN MUSHROOMS FOR NEXT 5 YEARS
i.   United States extended Anti Dumping Duty on Preserved Mushrooms for 5 years, as India is exporting maximum Mushroom to USA, UAE etc.
ii.   It will have negative impact on Indian Mushroom Exporters
Solan District of Himachal Pradesh is known as Mushroom City of India.

3.  ONE STOP CENTER FOR WOMEN IN DISTRESS ‘SAKHI’ INAUGURATED IN HARYANA
i.   One stop center for women in distress ‘SAKHI’ is inaugurated in Haryana to provide help to women in distress.
ii.  The Center will provide help to Sexually, mentally and emotionally harassed women.

5.  RAJIV MEHRISI IS TO BE NEW UNION HOME SECRETARY
i.   Rajiv Mehrisi is appointed as New Union Home Secretary for the next 2 years.
ii.  He had replaced L.C. Goyal

6.  INDIAN WRESTLER ANIL WON GOLD IN CADET WRESTLING WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP:
i.   Indian Wrestler Anil won gold medal in Cadet Wrestling World Championship
ii.  He defeated Erfan Aeini in the 50 kg Freestyle Category
iii.  Earlier, Ankush won silver medal in 38 kg women free style in last week in Cadet Wrestling World Championship.

i.  India has imposed anti dumping duty on Vitamin C imports from China.
ii. The Anti Dumping duty is imposed for the next 5 years, to safeguard the interest of domestic industries in India.
Anti Dumping Duty: WTO provides the right to impose anti dumping on the countries, who are dumping their goods to Indian market at low prices. In India Union Ministry of Commerce Recommends for Anti Dumping duty but it is imposed by Union Ministry of Finance.

1. SMART HUMSAFAR PLAN STARTED BY SBI LIFE INSURANCE
i. SBI Life Insurance started Smart Humsafar, a unique plan which offers multiple benefits of savings and insurance cover for husband and wife under a single policy.
ii. In case of death of one of the spouses, a payment of sum assured is made to the surviving spouse.

2. ASEAN FOREIGN MINISTERS’ MEET HELD IN ,MALAYSIA      
i. The 48th ASEAN foreign Ministers’ meet was held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
ii. The meet was chaired by Anifah Aman, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia.
iii. The theme of this ASEAN meet is  "Our People, Our Community, Our Vision",
iv. The motive of the Theme is  to create an ASEAN Community which is truly people-oriented, people-centred comprising all areas of cooperation.
v. The ASEAN foreign ministers meet was participated by India’s Minister of State for External Affairs of India Gen (Retd) VK Singh.

3. RBI ALLOWS BANKS TO SHIFT, MERGE OR CLOSE BRANCHES IN URBAN AREAS
i. Reserve Bank of India has allowed banks to shift, merge or close branches in urban areas, except in rural areas, at their own discretion.
ii. The central bank said that customers of the branch should be informed well in time before actual shifting, merger or closure of the office.
iii. RBI said shifting, merger, or closure of any rural branch as well as a sole semi urban branch would require approval of the District Consultative Committee or District Level Review Committee.

4. INDIA AND MYANMAR SIGNED AGREEMENT TO SET UP CESDT
i.  India and Myanmar inked an agreement to set up Centre of Excellence in Software Development and Training (CESDT) in Myanmar.
ii.  The project will avail setting up of a state of the art Information and Communication Technology Centre, imparting intensive teachers training, extending support for ICT curriculum development
iii.  The agreement was signed in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia during the  ASEAN Meet.

5. 4G SERVICES LAUNCHED BY BHARTI AIRTEL IN INDIA

iii. Airtel the largest telecom company of India became the first company to roll out the  pan-India 4G network.

1. JOSHNA CHINAPPA WON SQUASH TITLE VICTORIAN OPEN:
i. Indian player Joshna Chinappa won the women’s squash title in the 15000 US Dollar,Victorian Open WSA Event in Melbourne, Australia .
 ii. Joshna Chinappa defeated  Line Hansen of Denmark.
iii. The  28-year-old Joshna, has now  won 10 women’s squash title.

2. TAMIL NADU GOVERNMENT  STARTED YOUTH AWARD IN  THE NAME OF DR APJ ABDUL KALAM:
 i.   The state government of Tamil Nadu started youth award in the name of former President Dr APJ Abdul Kalam.
 ii. THE  Award consisting of  8 gram gold, 5 lakh rupees in cash and a citation.
iii. The award would be given  on every Independence Day to a person from the state who works with exceptional merit in science, humanities and students welfare.
      Dr APJ ABDUL Kalam’s birthday on October 15th would be celebrated as the Youth Revival Day.

4. INDIA AND BANGLADESH PHYSICALLY TRANSFERRED ENCLAVES ON INDO-BANGLADESH BORDER
i. India and Bangladesh physically transferred 162 enclaves/chitmahals located on Indo-Bangladesh border.
ii. India and Bangladesh exchanged enclaves, 51 Bangladeshi enclaves merged with India,    while 111 Indian enclaves merged with Bangladesh.
This exchange gave citizenship identity to over 52,000 people of either country, thus giving them access to all legal rights and civic amenities. Earlier people in these enclaves were living a stateless existence for 68 years.

1.  RESERVE BANK OF INDIA TO ISSUE 10 RUPEES COINS TO COMMEMORATE ‘INTERNATIONAL DAY OF YOGA’
i.   RBI decided to put into circulation 10 Rupees coin to commemorate the international Day of  Yoga .
ii.  The coin have been minted by the Government of India.
iii.  The coin bears the logo of International Day of Yoga
The coins are minted under the coinage act 2011. Coins are minted at the four India government mints at Mumbai, Alipore (Kolkata) Saijabad (Hyderabad) a, Cherlapally (Hyderabad) and Noida (UP)
The coin bears :
ü  logo of "International Day of Yoga", with inscription "सामंजस्य एवं शान्ति के लिए योग" in Devnagri Script and "YOGA FOR HARMONY AND PEACE" around the logo.
ü  The date "21 JUNE" is written at the bottom of the logo.
ü  The inscription "अंतर्राष्ट्रीय योग दिवस" in Devnagri script

2. KALYANI GROUP PARTNERS WITH ISRAEL’S RAFAEL TO MAKE SPIKE MISSILE
i.   India’s Kalyani group and Israel’s Rafael have partnered to produce spike anti tank guided missile in India.
The FDI proposal in this regard was cleared by defense acquisition council which was chaired by  defense minister worth 3200 crore rupees

3.  CYCLONE KOMEN FORMED OVER BAY OF BENGAL
i.  Cyclone Komen formed after the depression over the northern Bay of Bengal turned into cyclone storm.
ii.  Indian meteorological department forecasted heavy to very heavy rains with isolated extremely heavy rains in Gangetic West Bengal and Odisha.

4.  E-TOURIST VISA SCHEME EXTENDED TO CHINA, HONG KONG AND MACAU
i.    E-Tourist visa scheme was extended to China ,Hong Kong and Macau.
ii.  Now total number of countries covered under E-tourist visa scheme increased to 77 from 74.
E-tourist visa scheme launched by government of India.Under this Scheme tourist with E-visa can arrive at 9 designated airports namely Bengaluru, Chennai, Cochin, Delhi, Goa, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai and Trivandrum.

5. GOVERNMENT TO SET UP NATIONAL INVESTMENT AND INFRASTRUCTURE FUND (NIIF) 
i. Union Cabinet approved setting up of National Investment and Infrastructure Fund (NIIF) to Support new and stressed projects so that it may help to restart the investment cycle.
ii.  The fund will have an initial corpus of 20000 crore rupees.
NIIF is proposed to be set up as a Trust which would raise debt to invest in the equity of infrastructure finance companies such as Indian Rail Finance Corporation (IRFC) and National Housing Bank (NHB).
The fund was proposed by the Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley in his Budget 2015-16.
