1. 8 MARCH IS OBSERVED AS INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY
i. International Women’s Day is observed on 8th March  in allover the world.
ii. The day is observed to highlight the achievements of women while calling for greater equality.
iii. The theme of the day is “Planet 50-50 by 2030: Step It Up for Gender Equality”.

2. UNION GOVERNMENT LAUNCHED ONLINE MARKETING PLATFORM MAHILA E-HAAT
i. Union Minister for Women and Child Development Maneka Sanjay Gandhi launched Mahila e-Haat portal in New Delhi.
ii. The Mahila e-Haat portal is an online marketing platform.
iii. It is the initiative taken by government to help women to sell products online.
iv. It is an initiative for women across the country as a part of Digital India and Stand Up India initiatives.

3. GYAN SANGAM THE 3RD PHASE OF BANK REFORMS TO FOCUS ON BAD LOAN
i. The Gyan Sangam two day annual meeting of chiefs of public sector financial institutions, officials from the Finance Ministry and the Reserve Bank of India held  in Gurgaon.
ii. The meeting is conducted to discuss the severe issues relating to banking as NPA’s and bad loans etc.
iii. The issues relating to Restructuring and mergers and acquisitions of banks, NPA management, digital and financial inclusion, Credit growth, and Risk management.

4. COUNTRY'S FIRST SMALL FINANCE BANK TO BEGIN OPERATIONS
i. Jalandhar based Capital Local Area Bank has become the first to receive the Reserve Bank of India‘s licence to start operations as a small finance bank.
ii. In last year 2015 Reserve Bank of India granted in-principle licences to 10 applicants to set up small finance banks.
iii. The small finance bank will examine the basic banking activities of acceptance of deposits and lending to unserved and underserved sections including small business units, marginal farmers and unorganised sector entities.

5. AMAZON IS INDIA'S MOST TRUSTED ONLINE SHOPPING BRAND
i. Amazon World's largest e-retailer is ranked as India's most trusted online shopping brand .
ii. It was followed by Snapdeal and Flipkart.
iii. Amazon is India's most trusted online shopping brand with 36 per cent of the trust pie.

6. INVESTORS' SUMMIT STARTED IN GURGAON
i. The first two-day 'Happening Haryana Global Investors Summit 2016' has been started  in Gurgaon,.
ii. It was attended by several Union Ministers, leading entrepreneurs and MNCs .
iii. The participating countries are Czech-Republic, Japan, Korea, Malawi, Peru, Poland, Spain, Mauritius, New Zealand, China, the United Kingdom and Tunisia.
iv. Finance Minister Arun Jaitley is the chief guest at the inaugural session.

7. UNION GOVERNMENT ANNOUNCED TO WITHDRAW TAX PROPOSAL ON EMPLOYEE PROVIDENT FUND
i. Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on announced to withdraw proposal to tax Employee Provident Fund  withdrawals.
ii. Government retained the tax proposal for National Pension Scheme withdrawals.
iii. The proposal was made by the Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley while presenting the Union Budget 2016-17 in the Lok Sabha.
iv. According to the proposal 60 percent of the amount deposited in the EPF account of the employee would be taxable at the time of withdrawal and 40 percent would be tax free.
v. It would become effective from 1 April 2016.

vi. The proposal to tax EPF withdrawals was made with an aim of to create a pensioned society.
