1. WORLD HEPATITIS DAY OBSERVED ON 28TH JULY
i. World Hepatitis Day is observed on 28th july to raise global awareness  about hepatitis and to encourage prevention of disease.
ii. Theme of the day is global campaign is ‘Elimination’.
iii. The main aim of the day is to eliminate hepatitis as a public health threat by 2030.

2.  UNION CABINET INCREASES LIMIT FOR FOREIGN INVESTMENT IN STOCK EXCHANGES FROM 5% TO 15%
i. The Union Cabinet has given its approval for raising foreign shareholding limit from current 5% to 15% in Indian Stock Exchanges.
ii. The increased limit is for a stock exchange, insurance company depository, banking company and commodity derivative exchange.
iii. The Union Cabinet also gave its approval for foreign portfolio investors to acquire shares through initial allotment in the stock exchanges.

3.  UNION CABINET APPROVES SETTING UP OF NEW AIIMS IN BHATINDA
i. The Union Cabinet has approved the establishment of a new AIIMS at Bhatinda in Punjab under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana .
ii. The new AIIMS at Bhatinda will provide super specialty health care to the population while creating a large pool of doctors and other health workers in this region.

4.   EAST BENGAL TO HONOUR MILKHA SINGH WITH BHARAT GAURAV AWARD
i. Kolkata's football giants club East Bengal has announced that this year’s Bharat Gaurav award  known as Pride of India will be conferred to athlete Milkha Singh.
ii. He will be honoured with the prestigious award on the East Bengal Foundation Day on 1st of August.

5. THE EUROPEAN UNION APPOINTS CHIEF BREXIT NEGOTIATOR
i. European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker has appointed Michel Barnier for internal markets  to lead negotiations with Britain to leave the European Union.
ii. Michel Barnier is a French Union for a Popular Movement  politician and Vice President of the European People's Party.

6. INTERNATIONAL TIGER DAY OBSERVED ON 29 TH JULY
i. International Tiger Day was observed on 29 July to give worldwide attention to the reservation of tigers.
ii. The goal of the day is to promote a global system for protecting the natural habitats of tigers and to raise public awareness and support for tiger conservation issues.

1. CENTRE GOVERNMENT APPROVES RS. 1600 CRORE FOR SKILL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME
 i. The Union Government has approved fund of 1600 crore rupees for Jammu and Kashmir under skill development programme 'Himayat'.
ii. Under this programme the youth from both rural and urban areas of J&K would be imparted with training in various job-intensive vocational courses.
iii. Himayat programme will provide skill training for youth.
iv.It aims to train 100000 youth in 5 years and provide at least 75% of them with jobs.

2. BEZWADA WILSON AND T.M. KRISHNA WON RAMON MAGSAYSAY AWARD
 i. Classical singer Thodur Madabusi Krishna and Bezwada Wilson won Ramon Magsaysay Award 2016.
ii. The Ramon Magsaysay Award is an annual award established the memory of former Philippine President Ramon Magsaysay's.

3. IOM BECOMES PART OF UNITED NATIONS
 i. The UN General Assembly has adopted a resolution approving an agreement to make the International Organisation for Migration part of the UN as a related organisation.
ii. IOM is an intergovernmental organisation is founded in the wake of the World War II to resettle refugees from Europe.

iii. France's National Centre for Scientific Research was ranked first followed by Chinese Academy of Science, China.

5. MUTTAIAH MURALITHARAN TO ENTER ICC HALL OF FAME
 i.  Muttaiah Muralitharan will be the first Sri Lankan to be included in the ICC's Hall of Fame.
ii. Australia's Arthur Morris, Karen Rolton and George Lohmann of England are the three along with Muralitharan to share the honours.

6. UNION GOVERNMENT ISSUES NOTIFICATION FOR IMPLEMENTATION OF 7TH PAY COMMISSION
i. The Union Government has issued notification for the implementation of 7th Pay Commission.
ii. Union Government has given CBSE chief Rajesh Kumar Chaturvedi an additional charge of Chief of the implementation cell of the Seventh Central Pay Commission.
iii. The 7th Pay Commission headed by Justice AK Mathur had recommended 14.27 per cent hike in basic pay at junior levels.

7. BCCI CHIEF ANURAG THAKUR TO JOIN TERRITORIAL ARMY
i. BJP MP and Anurag Thakur will be commissioned into the Territorial Army as a regular officer
ii. He cleared the exam of territorial army and cleared a personal interview.
iii. He will be the first serving BJP MP to join the military force.

1. ABDUL KALAM’S STATUE UNVEILED IN RAMESWARAM
 i. Union Ministers Venkaiah Naidu and Manohar Parrikar unveiled a statue of Dr APJ Abdul Kalam at Peikarumbu.
ii. It is formed to  mark his first death anniversary.
iii. Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen "A. P. J." Abdul Kalam was the 11th President of India from 2002 to 2007.

2. MANIPUR BECOMES FOURTEENTH STATE TO JOIN ‘UDAY’
 i. Manipur has joined the Ujwal DISCOM Assurance Yojana  known as UDAY scheme meant for revival of debt-stressed power distribution utilities .
ii. Manipur is the 14th state to join the UDAY.
iii. It is also the first North Eastern state to adopt for the UDAY for improving the efficiency of the DISCOM.

3. RBI SLAPS PENALTY ON ALLAHABAD BANK, UCO BANK, BANK OF INDIA AND CANARA BANK
 i. RBI has imposed penalty of Rs 2 crore each on Allahabad Bank and UCO Bank and Rs 1 crore on Bank of India for violation of anti-money laundering norms.
ii. The Reserve Bank of India has imposed an penalty of Rs. 2 crore on Canara Bank.
iii. Earliee RBI had imposed penalties of Rs 5 crore and Rs 3 crore on  Bank of Baroda and Punjab National Bank.

4. LOK SABHA PASSES CHILD LABOUR AMENDMENT BILL
 i. The Child Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Amendment Bill was passed by Lok Sabha.
ii. The bill will prohibits employment of children below 14 years in all occupations except in family business.
iii. The penalty for employing a child has been hiked up to imprisonment between 6 months and two years or a fine of Rs 20,000 to Rs 50,000 or both.

5.  BRAZIL DECLARED FREE FROM MEASLES BY WHO
 i. The World Health Organisation has declared Brazil free of measles
ii. Brazil saw no domestic cases of measles from 1985 to 2000.
iii. But it  broke out in 2013 in the northeastern states of Pernambuco and Ceara.
iv. The WHO will issue a certification for the eradication of measles to Brazil.
v. Measles can be transmitted orally, through mucus or saliva and mainly affects children.
