ALL ABOUT SWINE FLU
Swine Flu is an infection found in Pigs and commonly
known as H1N1. This infection is caused by a virus SIV OR S-OIV.
Ø SIV-Swine influenza virus.
Ø S-OIV-Swine Origin Influenza Virus.
Ø Transmission of this virus from Pigs to Humans is not
common and if it does, it is called zoonotic Swine flu.
Ø The virus first appeared in Mexico in 2009 & rapidly
spread all over the world.
Ø In august 2010,WHO officially declared swine Flu as
Paendamic.
Ø Swine Influenza is caused by influenza ‘A’.
Ø Four Influenza ‘A’ virus subtypes is Pigs are:-
A.
H1N1
B.
H1N2
C.
H3N2
D.
H7N9
SWINE FLU IN INDIA:
Ø
Currently India is struggling hard against the Deadly swine Flu outbreak.
This year’s outbreak of the deadly virus.H1N1 which causes Swine Flu is the
deadliest in India since 2010.
Ø
More than 11000 have been infected with this disease and above 700 deaths
have been accounted in India till now from 9 different states.
Ø
States like Gujarat, Rajasthan, Delhi, Maharashtra and Telangana have
witnessed a rapid increase in H1N1 cases.
Ø
Oseltamivir drug is used to tackle the virus.
