1. UN, IMF,
WORLD BANK AND OECD FORMED PLATFORM FOR COLLABORATION ON TAX
i. Four international organization
joined hands to form the Platform for collaboration in Tax Matters.
ii. The Platform has been set up to
boost global cooperation in tax matters.
iii. It is announced after the release
of the "Panama Papers"
leakage.
iv. The organizations are:
a.
The International Monetary Fund (IMF)
b.
The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD)
c.
The United Nations (UN)
d.
The World Bank Group (WBG)
e.
V.It is formed to develop the measures relating to international tax
issues.
2. UNION
GOVERNMENT MERGED RAJIV GANDHI KHEL ABHIYAAN WITH KHELO INDIA
i. The Union Government has merged
Rajiv Gandhi Khel Abhiyan with the Khelo India programme for development of
sports.
ii. The other two sport projects such
as Urban Sports Infrastructure Scheme and National Sports Talent Search have
also been absorbed under Khelo India.
iii. Khelo India is based on Gujarat's
model of Khel Mahakumbh, in which schools and colleges from different parts of
the country participate.
3. UNION
GOVERNMENT RENAMED DEPARTMENT OF DISINVESTMENT AS DIPAM
i. Union Government has renamed the
Department of Disinvestment as Department of Investment and Public Asset
Management.
ii. The decision is taken for proper
management of Union government’s investments in equity including its
disinvestment in central public sector undertakings
iii. The new scheme will advise government
in the matters of financial restructuring of central public sector enterprises
and for attracting investment through capital markets.
4. RBL BANK BECAME FIRST
PRIVATE SECTOR BANK TO OPEN DEDICATED BRANCH FOR START-UPS IN INDIA
i. The RBL Bank became the first
private sector bank in India to open dedicated branch for start-ups.
ii. The dedicated branch was
inaugurated at Koramangala, Bengaluru.
iii. Earlier SBI become first bank to started specific branches to
serve the needs of start-ups in Bengaluru.
5. EUROPE
BECOMES WORLD’S FIRST REGION TO END MALARIA A REPORT BY WHO
i. Europe has become the world’s first
region to completely wipe out Malaria.
ii. A Particular region is declared
Malaria free by WHO after it has zero locally acquired malaria cases for at
least three consecutive years.
6. BCCI
APPOINTED RAHUL JOHRI AS ITS CEO
i. Board of Control for Cricket in
India appointed Rahul Johri as its Chief Executive Officer
ii. The creation of the post of the CEO
was a change recommended by the three-member Lodha panel in its report in
January 2016.
iii. The panel had stressed the need
for the BCCI to separate its governance and management duties, with the CEO
taking charge of the management side.
