1. NATION PAYS HOMAGE TO NETAJI SUBHASH CHANDRA BOSE ON HIS 120TH BIRTH ANNIVERSARY
i. Nation pays homage to Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose on his 120th birth anniversary on 23 January.
ii. A number of functions have been organised in different parts of the country to mark the occasion.
iii. PM Narendra Modi paid rich tribute to Netaji. Mr Modi stated that Netaji's valour played a major role in freeing India from colonialism.
iv. The Prime Minister said, Netaji was a great intellectual who always thought about the interests and well being of the marginalised sections of society.

2. 3-DAY AROGYA MITRA CONFERENCE BEGINS IN SILCHAR, ASSAM
i. Assam State Governor Banwarilal Purohit inaugurated the Arogya Mitra conference at Silchar.
ii. The 3 day conference has been organised by the south Assam zone of the NGO, Keshab Smarak Sanskriti Surabhi at the campus of Veterinary College, Ghungoor.Aim of the Conference Make available minimum free medical services to the people of isolated and backward places
iii. Aarogya Mitra Seva Kendra have been set up in 701 places to achieve its objective. The conference would see participation by over 1000 people from Barak Valley and adjoining areas.

3. KWALITY LTD SIGNS MOU WITH BANK OF BARODA FOR RS 4000 CR LOAN TO FARMERS
i. Mumbai based dairy firm Kwality Ltd has signed an MoU with Bank of Baroda to provide Rs. 4000 crore loans to one lakh farmers out of the established networks from whom the company procures milk.
ii. It aims to provide financial assistance to improve socio-economic lives of farmers and encourage them towards digitisation.


4. SAINA NEHWAL CLINCHES 2017 MALAYSIA MASTERS GRAND PRIX GOLD
i. Indian badminton ace Saina Nehwal clinched the 2017 Malaysia Masters Grand Prix Gold women’s single title in the summit clash in Sibu, Malaysia.
ii. The top-seeded London Olympics bronze-medallist, defeated Thai Pornpawee Chochuwong.
iii. This was her first award of 2017 and 23rd title overall.

5. TEAMINDUS PROPOSES NAMEPLATE ON THE MOON FOR RS.500
i. A Bengaluru start-up TeamIndus proposes nameplate on the Moon for Rs.500.
ii. Indians have been offered the opportunity to leave their name on the moon, for a price.
iii. Space start-up TeamIndus will get the names of public ‘donors’ micro-engraved on a small-sized aluminium object, which will be placed on the lunar surface when its lander descends on the moon.

6. 2017 WORLD ECONOMIC FORUM ANNUAL MEETING HELD IN DAVOS, SWITZERLAND
i. The WEF Annual Meeting 2017 was held in Davos-Klosters, Switzerland.
ii. The theme of 47th World Economic Forum Annual Meeting 2017 was “Responsive and Responsible Leadership”.
iii. The Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations was launched at World Economic Forum Davos with $460-million funding to develop vaccines against 3 emerging highly-contagious and fatal diseases namely Middle East respiratory syndrome-coronavirus, Lassa fever, and Nipah virus.

7. AYUSH, ASCI SIGN MOU TO CO-REGULATE ADVERTISEMENTS IN AYUSH SECTOR
i. Ministry of AYUSH has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Advertising Standards Council of India to curtail malpractices in the advertisement of AYUSH drugs in New Delhi.
ii. The agreement was signed by Srinivasan K Swamy, Chairman of ASCI, Ministry of AYUSH and Dr.Dinesh Chan Katoch, Advisor (Ayurveda).
iii. According to the MoU, ASCI will report to the Ministry of AYUSH, all advertisements in potential violation of the Drugs and Magic Remedies Act, 1954 and Rules under as well as non-compliance of ASCI’s CCC recommendations for the Ministry of AYUSH to take further action.

8. CENTRE FOMS COMMITTEE TO FRAME RULES FOR IMPLEMENTATION OF RPD ACT
i. A committee has been constituted by the Centre to frame uniform rules for the states to avoid delay in proper implementation of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act across the country.
ii. The Committee will be headed by Secretary from Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities. It will also comprise of representatives from Department of Personnel and Training, Ministry of Health, Labour, representatives from NGOs and Legislative Department.
iii. It will also have Principal Secretary/Secretary, Social Welfare Department from Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Gujarat, Odisha, Assam and Madhya Pradesh.
iv. The committee has to submit its report within 3 months. The Ministry plans to notify the rules on April 14, the birth anniversary of Bhim R Ambedkar.
