1. UNION TERRITORIES AND TWENTY STATES JOIN PAN-INDIA SINGLE EMERGENCY HELPLINE NUMBER ‘112’
To get immediate assistance to the people who are in trouble, Union territories and Twenty states have joined in a pan-India network of single emergency helpline number ‘112’,which is implemented by central government’s Nirbhaya Fund.
Police (100), women (1090) and fire(101) helpline numbers are amalgamated in this and is similar to ‘911’ in US. When a person activate the panic button on the mobile,it will trigger an emergency call to 112.

2. INDIA’S HAJ QUOTA INCREASED TO 2 LAKH BY SAUDI ARABIA
India’s Haj Quota has been increased by about 25,000, raising the number to 2 lakh from 1.75 lakh by Saudi Arabia.
This will help the huge number of pilgrim of Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, and Bihar to embark pilgrimage this year.
This year, the GST on Haj pilgrimage has been reduced from 18 percent to 5 percent which will ensure that about Rs 113 crore will be saved by pilgrims during the 2019 Haj.

3. ASIAN TEA ALLIANCE LAUNCHED IN CHINA
To boost tea trade,cultural and technical exchanges as well as global promotion of tea,the Asian Tea Alliance a union of five tea-growing and consuming countries,was opened in Guizhou,China.
The alliance was constituted with Indian Tea Association,Indonesian tea Marketing Association,China tea marketing Association,Sri Lanka Tea Board and tea Association.
This Alliance was formed to promote tea consumption in India, China, U.S., Russia, Europe and West Asia.


4. POLICE OFFICER SUNIL KUMAR GAUTAM BESTOWED WITH ‘PANDIT GOVIND BALLABH PANT AWARD’ FOR WRITING ‘SAMVIDHAN KAVYA’, A POETIC VERSE OF THE INDIAN CONSTITUTION
Sunil Kumar Gautam, Special Commissioner of Police (Operations) was honoured with ‘Pandit Govind Ballabh Pant Award‘for 2018-19.
The award was given for his book titled ‘Samvidhan Kavya‘. There are total 238 couplets which explains the lengthiest Constitution of the world, the Indian Constitution in a very simple and poetic form.
‘Samvidhan Kavya’ was released by Dr Kiran Bedi, Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry on 5th October, 2016 in Puducherry.

5. RELIANCE RETAIL BECAME INDIA’S FIRST RETAIL COMPANY TO CROSS THE RS.1 LAKH CRORE ANNUAL REVENUE MILESTONES
Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Retail Reliance Industries became India’s first retail company to cross the Rs.1 lakh crore annual revenue.
The revenue for 2018-19 is Rs. 1.3 lakh crore, which is 89% more from the previous fiscal.

6. RAVINDER KUMAR PASSI APPOINTED AS A NEW CHAIRMAN OF EXPORT PROMOTION COUNCIL FOR HANDICRAFT
Export Promotion Council for Handicraft board has elevated Ravinder Kumar Passi, to the post of Chairman of EPCH.

7. FORMER JUDO FEDERATION OF INDIA CHIEF MUKESH KUMAR ELECTED AS JUDO UNION OF ASIA GENERAL SECRETARY
Mukesh Kumar, chief of former Judo Federation of India was re-elected as general secretary of Judo Union, the Asian governing body at , UAE.
The present President of Judo Federation of India,  Partap Singh Bajwa was elected as Vice President of Judo Union of Asia and as president of South Asia Judo Federation.
