1.        Railway cleanliness  survey 2019
ü  Three railway stations of Rajasthan, Jaipur, Jodhpur, and Durgapura have topped the Railway Cleanliness Survey 2019, conducted at 720 railway stations by the Ministry of Railways.
Mumbai’s Andheri, Virar and Naigaon stations have topped the total 109 stations in the category of suburban stations
2.    S. Mallikarjuna Rao -MD and CEO of PNB
ü  S. S. Mallikarjuna Rao was appointed as the MD and Chief Executive of the Punjab National Bank(PNB).  Currently serving as chief executive of the Allahabad Bank.


3.    Surjit Bhalla appointed as Executive Director for India at IMF
ü  Economist Surjit S Bhalla as the Executive Director (ED) for India on the board of the International Monetary Fund (IMF). Surjit succeeds former RBI deputy governor Subir Gokarn, who passed away recently.
4.    BWF Rankings 2019
ü  As per BWF (Badminton World Federation) Rankings 2019, PV Sindhu   has slipped to 6th rank while Tai Tzu-ying (Taiwan) topped the Rankings.
5.    Book -The RSS: Roadmaps for 21st Century’, written by Sunil Ambekar released.Published by Rupa Books.
6.    150th Gandhi Jayanti-October 2
ü  150th Gandhi Jayanti and International Day of Non-Violence was observed on October 2, 2019. The birthday of Late Lal Bahadur Shastri, the second PM of India was also observed on this day.
ü  Mrs Smriti Irani inaugurated a 1,650-kg ‘charkha’ (spinning wheel) made of plastic waste, the world’s largest, near the Mahamaya flyover in Sector 94, Noida, Uttar Pradesh.
ü  Atal Innovation Mission (AIM), NITI Aayog’s Atal Tinkering Labs (ATL) and United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) India, launched ‘The Gandhian Challenge’ for school children with an aim to support children to thrive as young innovators and entrepreneurs.
ü  The bilingual programme – ‘Mahatma Lives’/’Bapu Zinda Hain’ in which audio clips of Mahatma Gandhi were featured on television programme jointly hosted by UNESCO and Doordarshan (DD).
ü  The India Plog Run was also held in 50 cities across India by United Way of India and Go Native with active support from the Ministry.
ü  PM released a commemorative Rs 150 coin. He set a target to achieve the goal to eradicate ‘single-use plastic’ from India by the year 2022.
Rural India and its villages were declared ‘open defecation free’ (odf), by building over 11 crore toilets at the ‘Swachh Bharat Diwas‘ program in Ahmedabad. He also launched a book, ‘My Life, My Message’, published by the Sabarmati Ashram. It is on the life of Gandhi.
ü  A postage stamp was issued by French postal service company La Poste to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of the Mahatma. Similar postage stamps were issued in Uzbekistan, Turkey, Palestine and other countries around the globe on Gandhi Jayanti.
7.    Telangana becomes fully electrified state
ü Telangana became fully electrified states in India after providing 100% electricity coverage to over 5 lakh 15 thousand households, especially those in the remote areas under the Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojana (Soubhagya).
