1.INDIA’S 39TH UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE SITE

          During the 44th session of the World Heritage Committee (WHC) of UNESCO, India’s nomination of Kakatiya Rudreswara Temple (Ramappa Temple) at Palampet, Telangana was inscribed on UNESCO’s World Heritage list.

          It will be India’s 39th World Heritage Site & the 1st World Heritage Site from Telangana.

          It was constructed in 1213 AD during the reign of Kakatiya Empire by Recharla Rudra Reddy, a general of Kakatiya king Ganapati Deva.

 

2.ABDULLA SHAHID’S VISIT TO INDIA

          Abdullah Shahid, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Maldives, who is also The President-Elect of the 76th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) (PGA-Elect) visited New Delhi.

          He visited India at the invitation of Dr. S Jaishankar, EAM of India.

          Shahid has released a vision statement for his presidency term called ‘Presidency of Hope: COVID Pandemic and Need for Reformed Multilateralism’ with 5 priority themes – recovering from Covid-19, rebuilding sustainably, responding to the planet’s needs, respecting the rights of all, and reforming the UN.

 

3.BPKP AS A SUB-SCHEME OF PKVY

          Since 2020-21, the government is implementing Bhartiya Prakritik Krishi Padhati (BPKP) as a sub-scheme of Paramparagat Krishi Vikas Yojana (PKVY) for promoting Organic farming (traditional indigenous practices).

          Under BPKP, financial assistance of Rs 12200/hectare for 3 years is being provided for cluster formation, capacity building, and continuous handholding.

          It promotes biomass mulching, use of cow dung-urine formulations, plant-based preparations and time to time working of soil for aeration.

 

4.IFC LENDS $250 MILLION TO HDFC LTD.

          The investment arm of the World Bank Group, International Finance Corporation (IFC) has sanctioned $250 million (~Rs.1858 Crore) to HDFC (Housing Development Finance Corporation) Ltd to enhance inexpensive housing finance in India under the themes Affordable & Green housing.

          This loan is on the lines of India’s target of providing ‘Housing for All’.

 

5.NATIONAL BRAND AMBASSADOR FOR SDG CHOUPAL

          To honour the various initiatives undertaken by Sanjay Rai ‘Sherpuria’, the entrepreneur and Social worker, during COVID-19, SDG Choupal named him as the National Brand Ambassador of it.

          SDG Choupal will support the national and state governments for implementing the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) (a set of 17 goals and 169 targets).

 

6.BS YEDIYURAPPA ANNOUNCED HIS RESIGNATION AS KARNATAKA CM

          B.S. Yediyurappa announced his resignation as CM of Karnataka.

          He had submitted his resignation to Thawar Chand Gehlot,the Governor of Karnataka.

          In the exercise of powers vested under Part IV of the Constitution of India, Article 164 (1), Governor Thawar Chand Gehlot accepted the resignation.

 

7.WORLD CADET WRESTLING CHAMPIONSHIPS 2021

          India has finished the World Cadet Wrestling Championships 2021 with 13 Medals (5 Gold, 1 Silver, 7 Bronze).

          The World Cadet Wrestling Championships 2021 was held from July 19-25, 2021 at Budapest, Hungary.

          The Indian Men’s Team were crowned as Freestyle Champions.

          It is India’s 1st ever team freestyle world title at any level.

          While the Women’s Wrestling Team clinched the Silver Medal.

 

8.ICC WOMEN’S ODI PLAYER RANKINGS

          Indian Women’s Team Captain (for ODIs) Mithali Raj has reclaimed the No.1 spot in the latest MRF Tyres ICC Women’s ODI Player Rankings. 

          It is the 9th time that Mithali Raj is topping the rankings.

          In the latest MRF Tyres ICC Women’s T20I Player Rankings, India’s Smriti Mandhana attained a career-best 3rd ranking.

 

9.BOOK ON INDIAN START-UP ECOSYSTEM – ‘SHIFTING ORBITS’

          Amitabh Kant, Chief Executive Officer of NITI Aayog (National Institution for Transforming India) has launched a book titled ‘Shifting Orbits: Decoding the Trajectory of the Indian Start-up Ecosystem’.

          Indian start-ups are projected to raise $13.7 billion in funding by 2021.

          Totally 52 startups have turned into Unicorns in the Indian market.

          Unicorn – It is a privately-owned startup with a valuation of over $1 billion.

 

10.22ND ANNIVERSARY OF KARGIL VIJAY DIWAS

          India celebrates the 22nd Anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas on 26th July 2021 which marks the victory of India over Pakistan in the war fought from 3rd May to 26th July 1999 in Kargil, Jammu & Kashmir.

          The day remembers the valour and sacrifices of the heroes of the Kargil War and pays homage to the martyrs who lost their lives in the line of duty.

 

11.WORLD IN VITRO FERTILIZATION (IVF) DAY 2021

          The World In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) Day is annually observed across the globe on 25th July to mark the birth of Louise Joy Brown, the World’s first IVF baby, on 25th July 1978 in Manchester, England.

          On 3rd October 1978, India’s First and world’s 2nd IVF baby Kanupriya Agarwal aka Durga was born.

 

12.‘AZAD KI SHAURYA GATHA’ EXHIBITION

          Union Minister of State for Culture and Parliamentary Affairs, Shri Arjun Ram Meghwal inaugurated the exhibition “Azad Ki Shaurya Gatha” focused on the life of immortal martyr ‘Chandrasekhar Azad’ as part of “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” at Indira Gandhi National Center for the Arts (IGNCA), New Delhi.

 

13.INS AIRAVAT ARRIVED JAKARTA

          Indian Naval Ship Airavat arrived at the Port of Jakarta, Indonesia on 24 Jul 2021, carrying essential COVID-19 relief supplies.

          The ship has brought five Cryogenic containers containing 100 MT of Liquid Oxygen and 300 Concentrators to support Indonesia in its fight against the on going pandemic.

 

14.BANGLADESH ALTERNATIVE SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORM

          The Bangladesh government is working to develop a social media platform named ‘Jogajog’ as an alternative to Facebook.

          He mentioned that the government is also working to develop a communication app ‘Alapan’ as an alternative to Whatsapp.

          Zunaid Ahmed Palak noted that the government also plans to develop a streaming app as an alternative to YouTube so that the huge outflow of money due to advertisements from the country could be stopped.
