1.       INDIAN NAVY-BANGLADESH NAVY CORPAT CONDUCTED

·         The 4th edition of the Indian Navy-Bangladesh Navy (IN-BN) Coordinated Patrol (CORPAT) was conducted in the Northern Bay of Bengal to ensure maritime security in the region.

·         Both sides undertook joint patrolling along the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL).

 

2.       INDIA RECORDED HIGHEST EVER ANNUAL FDI INFLOW OF USD 83.57BN IN FY22.

·         As per data released by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), India’s foreign direct investments (FDI) inflow was increased by 1.95% on-year to the highest ever annual figure of USD83.57 billion in the FY22 (2021-2022) as compared to $81.97 billion in FY21.

·         In India, Singapore is the top investing country with 27% of the equity inflows.

·         It is followed by the United States (US) with inflows at 18% and Mauritius at 16% in FY22.

·         Among states, Karnataka is the top recipient state for another year i.e. FY22 with 38% share of the total FDI equity inflows

 

3.       WHO DG’S GLOBAL HEALTH LEADERS AWARDS

·         India’s one million all-women Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHA) workers, were honoured with the World Health Organisation (WHO) Director-General’s Global Health Leaders Award 2022 for their “crucial role” in providing direct access to healthcare facilities in rural areas and their indefatigable efforts to rein in the coronavirus pandemic in the country.

·         WHO Director-General D rTedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus announced the 6 awardees of WHO Director-General’s Global Health Leaders Awards. 

 

4.       ASTER GUARDIANS GLOBAL NURSING AWARD 2022

·         Anna Qabale Duba,a nurse from Marsabit County in Kenya, became the winner of First Aster Guardians Global Nursing Award 2022 at an award ceremony held at Atlantis the Palm in Dubai.

 

5.       NEW PRIME MINISTER OF AUSTRALIA

·         Anthony Albanese sworn in as 31st Prime Minister (PM) of Australia by Governor-General David Hurley, ahead of the Quad Summit 2022 in Tokyo, Japan.

·         PM Anthony Albanese’s center-left Labor Party of Australia defeated previous PM Scott Morrison’s conservative coalition in Australia’s federal election in 2022.

·         In Australia’s 121-year history, he is the first candidate for Prime Minister with a “non-Anglo Celticbackground.

 

6.       CEO & MD OF INFOSYS

·         Board of Directors of Infosys Limited on the recommendation of the Nomination and Remuneration Committee (NRC) have reappointed Salil Parekh as Managing Director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Infosys for five more years

·         Infosys Headquarters Bengaluru

 

7.       2022 IBA WOMEN’S WORLD BOXING CHAMPIONSHIPS

·         The 12th edition of 2022 International Boxing Association (IBA) Women’s World Boxing Championship was held at BaÅŸakÅŸehir Youth and Sports Facility, Istanbul, Turkey

·         The Turkey topped the medal tally with five gold and two bronze medals, was honoured as the best team of the Championships.

·         India for the first time in the past four years, had won a total medal tally of 3, which includes one Gold and two Bronze.

·         The  Indian Boxer Nikhat Zareen, who hails from Nizamabad city of Andhra Pradesh (now Telangana), won the gold in flyweight (52kg) division with 5-0 points against Thailand’s Jitpong Jutamas.

·         With this win she became the fifth Indian women boxer to win the World Championship.

·         The other two Indian women boxers ManishaMoun (from Haryana) and ParveenHooda(from Haryana) had won the bronze medals in 57kg and 63kg categories respectively.

 

8.       ISSF JUNIOR WORLD CUP 2022

·         The International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) Junior World Cup 2022 was held at Suhl in Germany

·         The Indian contingent was led by ace shooters Manu Bhaker and Saurabh Chaudhary.

·         India won 33 medals including 13 gold, 15 silver, and 5 bronze.

·         The Indian junior shooting team came in first position overall.

·         With four gold medals, Italy came in second place.

9.       VERSTAPPEN WINS SPANISH GRAND PRIX 2022

·         Red Bull’s Max Verstappen,a Formula one world champion claimed a hard-fought Spanish Grand Prix 2022 win at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya in Spain.

·         Mexican Sergio Perez of Red Bull took second place in the race and Britain’s George Russell of Mercedes came third.

 

10.    ANTI-TERRORISM DAY 2022 – MAY 21

·         Anti Terrorism Day is annually observed across India on 21st May to mark the death anniversary of former Indian Prime Minister (PM) Rajiv Gandhi, who was assassinated in 1991 at Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu. 

·         21st May 2022 marks the 31st death anniversary of 6th former Prime Minister of India PM Rajiv Gandhi. 

 

11.    INTERNATIONAL DAY FOR BIOLOGICAL DIVERSITY 2022 – MAY 22 

·         The United Nations(UN)’s International Day for Biological Diversity is annually celebrated across the globe on 22nd May to create awareness about the importance of biodiversity

·         The theme of International Day for Biological Diversity 2022 is “Building a shared future for all life”.

 

12.    INDIA’S FIRST CENTRE OF EXCELLENCE FOR KHADI

·         Narayan Rane Union Minister for Micro Small and Medium Enterprises(MSMEs) inaugurated India’s first Centre of Excellence for Khadi(CoEK) in New Delhi, Delhi.

·         The CoEK is set up at the National Institute of Fashion Technology(NIFT) as a hub in Delhi and spokes in Bangalore, Gandhinagar, Kolkata, and Shillong. 

 

13.    INDIA HOSTS SCO-RATS SUMMIT 2022 IN DELHI

·         India hosted the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure (SCO-RATS) summit 2022 in New Delhi, Delhi

·         The key agenda of the summit is the formation of an inclusive government in Afghanistan. 

·         In October 2021, India assumed the chairmanship of the Council of RATS SCO for a period of one year. 

·         Members of SCO are Russia, China, India, Pakistan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.

 

14.    100 MOST INFLUENTIAL PEOPLE OF 2022 BY TIME MAGAZINE

·         GautamAdani, Chairman and founder of the Adani Group, Supreme Court lawyer and public activist Karuna Nundy and Kashmiri rights activist Khurram Parvez were among the list of 100 Most Influential People of 2022 published by TIME magazine, an American news magazine.

·         The list has been divided into six categories: Icons, Pioneers, Titans, Artists, Leaders and Innovators.

·         Gautam Adani’s Adani Group is the World’s 6th largest economy.

·         Adani has been listed under the Titans category of the list. 

·         Karuna Nundy is a champion of women’s rights who has worked to reform the antirape laws. 

·         Khurram Parvez, Chairperson of the Asian Federation against Involuntary Disappearances.

·         He has fought against human rights violations and injustices in the Kashmir region. 

·         KarunaNundy and KhurramParvez were listed under the Leaders category. 

 

15.    VINAI KUMAR SAXENA APPOINTED AS LG OF DELHI

·         The President of India, Ram NathKovind, appointed Vinai Kumar Saxena as the 22nd  Lieutenant Governor (LG) of the National Capital Territory of Delhi (NCT-Delhi).

·         Saxena replaced the Incumbent LG Anil Baijal, who resigned due to ‘Personal Reasons’

 

16.    INTER-STATE COUNCIL RECONSTITUTED

·         The Union Government has reconstituted the Inter-State Council with the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi as its Chairman along with six Union Ministers as members and Ten Union Ministers as permanent invitees.

·         Union Government also reconstituted the Standing Committee of the Inter-State Council with the Union Home Minister Amit Shah as its Chairman

·         Inter-State Council Members: Chief Ministers of all the State and Union Territories with legislative assemblies and Administrators or Lieutenant Governors of those States without Legislative assemblies.

·         The union ministers who were made members of the council are – Rajnath Singh, Amit Shah, NirmalaSitharaman, Narendra Singh Tomar, Virendra Kumar, Hardeep Singh Puri, 

·         The Constitution of India in Article 263, established the Inter-State Council, with the mandate to promote and support cooperative federalism in the country.

·         Composition Standing Committee of Inter-State Council: Chairman – Union Home Minister Amit Shah

·         Members – Chief Ministers of Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Odisha, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh

·         Union Ministers – NirmalaSitharaman, Narendra Singh Tomar, Virendra Kumar and Gajendra Singh Shekhawat.

·         The standing committee will have continuous consultation and process matters for consideration by the Council. It will also process matters pertaining to Centre-State relations before they are taken up for consideration in the Inter-State Council.

·         It also monitors the implementation of the decisions taken on the recommendations of the council and considers any other matter referred to it by the chairman or the council.

 

17.    UTTARAKHAND ROLL OUT COMMERCIAL DRONE SERVICES IN HEALTHCARE

·         Redcliffe Labs, a unit of Redcliffe LifetechInc based in the United States of America (USA), has opened its commercial drone corridor between Uttarkashi and Dehradun in the State of Uttarakhand.

·         This will be the first commercial drone flight in India’s healthcare sector. 

·         The project was a part of Redcliffe and Skye Air collaboration for using drones

·         The Government of Telangana in September 2021, became the first State in the country to embark on Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLoS) flights to deliver a payload comprising vaccines, with the launch of Medicine from the Sky project in Vikarabad, Telangana.
