1.       LIFESTYLE FOR THE ENVIRONMENT MOVEMENT

·         The Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi launched ‘Lifestyle for the Environment (LiFE) Movement’ via video conferencing, the idea of which introduced by him during the 26th United Nations Climate Change (UNCC) Conference of the Parties (COP26) in Glasgow in 2021.

·         The LiFE envisages the replacement of the prevalent economy of ‘use-and-dispose’ with a circular economy of ‘Reduce, Reuse and Recycle’.

·         There is a need to live a lifestyle in tune with our planet in order to make the environment sustainable.

·         The people opting this lifestyle are regarded as ‘Pro-Planet People (P3)’.

·         The framework ‘EAST’ that India, and other nations are using for behaviour change in connection with the environment and climate stands for Easy (E), Attractive (A), Social (S), and Timely (T).

·         During the conference, the leaders added new acronym to it i.e. FEAST where F stands for Fun.

·         It was coined by Cass Sunstein, Author of Nudge Theory and Behavioural Scientist at Harvard University, United States (US).

 

2.       EX SAMPRITI-X 2022: INDIA-BANGLADESH HOLD JOINT MILITARY EXERCISE

·         A joint military training exercise between the armies of India and Bangladesh, ‘Ex SAMPRITI-X 2022’ commenced at Jessore military station in Bangladesh

·         The Indian contingent is represented by a battalion of the Dogra regiment and Bangladesh is represented by Border Guards.

 

3.       NATO HOLDS BALTIC SEA NAVAL EXERCISES

·         North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) initiated BALTOPS (Baltic Operations) 22, a two-week 51st iteration of the premier maritime-focused exercise in the Baltic Sea.

·         Participating Nations include 14 NATO Allies such as Belgium, Bulgaria, Denmark, Estonia, France, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Turkey, the United Kingdom, and the United States and two NATO partner nations Sweden ,and Finland.

4.       TCS RETAINS ITS 10TH POSITION AMONG GLOBAL BPM PROVIDERS IN 2021

·         As per estimates by outsourcing consultancy Everest Group, Tata Consultancy Service (TCS) has retained its 10th position among the top global Business Process Management (BPM) providers in 2021.

·         The Top 5 fastest growing companies year-on-year were Tech Mahindra, Telus International, Majorel, Teleperformance and Comdata.

·         The Top 5 BPM players in terms of revenue were Automatic Data Processing, Inc(ADP) , TelePerformance, Accenture, Concentricx ,and Cytal Group.

 

5.       ABANIA NEW PRESIDENT

·         Albania’s parliament has elected a top military official, General Major Bajram Begaj as its new president after no candidates were nominated in three rounds of voting.

·         He is Albania’s 8th president and the 3rd from the military ranks.

6.       WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY 2022 – JUNE 5

·         The United Nations (UN)’s World Environment Day is annually observed across the globe on 5th June to create awareness about the importance of protecting the environment.

·         The annual observance of World Environment Day has been led by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) since 1973.

·         The theme of World Environment Day 2022 is Only One Earth. 

·         World Environment Day 2022 is hosted by Sweden.
