1.              BUDDHAVANAM– THE FIRST BUDDHIST HERITAGE THEME PARK

·                The 275-acre park Buddhavanam, the 1st of its kind and the largest Buddhist Heritage Theme Park in the world, is developed by the Telangana State Tourism Development Corporation at Nagarjunasagar in the Nalgonda district, Telangana.

·                The park was inaugurated on 14th May 2022 and looks out over the peaceful backwaters of the River Krishna from the commanding Nagarjunasagar Dam.

 

2.              UN CLIMATE CHANGE CONFERENCE (COP 27)

·                https://affairscloud.com/assets/plugins/wccp-pro/images/transparent.gifThe 27th Conference of the Parties (COP 27) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) was held in Sharm El-Sheikh, Arab Republic of Egypt.

·                The “Sharm-El-Sheikh Adaptation Agenda” was introduced at the COP27, which was held in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt

·                The Sharm-El-Sheikh Adaptation Agenda proposes 30 Adaptation Outcomes to improve resilience for 4 billion people living in the most climate vulnerable communities by 2030.

·                The presidency aimed to raise between USD 140 billion – USD 300 billion to achieve goals aimed at reducing the severe effects of climate change.

·                India noted on behalf of Like-Minded Developing Countries (LMDCs) that the USD 100 billion per year pledged in 2009 is only small and is yet to be fulfilled.

·                Having failed to raise the 100 billion dollars per year by 2020, the developed countries have now promised to deliver this amount by 2023.

·                At the COP 27 Ministers from the BASIC (Brazil, South Africa, India, and China) Group emphasized the notion of “Common but Differentiated Responsibilities ” (CBDR) and respective capabilities in light of national situations.

·                The COP 28 to the UNFCCC will be held in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from November 30 to December 12, 2023.

 

3.              NATIONAL SPORTS AWARDS 2022

·                National Sports Awards 2022 were announced by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports (MYAS) which will be conferred upon the 41 deserving sportspersons, coaches and entities under 6 categories by the President of India, DroupadiMurmu

·                Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU), Amritsar (Punjab) won the MaulanaAbulKalam Azad (MAKA) Trophy 2022 for the record 24th time.

 

4.              2021 INDIRA GANDHI PRIZE FOR WORKS IN EDUCATION

·                Pratham, a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) functioning in the field of education, received the Indira Gandhi Prize for Peace, Disarmament, and Development of 2021 

·                Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of PrathamRukmini Banerji

·                The prestigious Indira Gandhi Prize for Peace, Disarmament, and Development (Indira Gandhi Prize or Indira Gandhi Peace Prize) is awarded annually by the Indira Gandhi Memorial Trust to recognise contributions to advancing global peace, development, and a new international economic order.

 

5.              GANDHI MANDELA AWARD 2022

·                Himachal Pradesh governor RajendraVishwanathArlekar felicitated the 14th Dalai Lama, Tibetan spiritual leader with the Gandhi Mandela Award 2022 at ThekchenChoeling in Dharamshala’sMcleodGanj.

·                The award was constituted by the Gandhi Mandela Foundation, a government of India (GoI) registered Trust and a non-profit organisation

·                In 1989, Dalai Lama received the Nobel Peace Prize in recognition of his efforts towards the liberation of Tibet and the efforts taken by him for a peaceful resolution instead of using violence as a key.

 

6.              NEW ELECTION COMMISSIONER OF INDIA

·                ArunGoel, Retired Indian Administrative Officer (IAS) officer of Punjab cadre (1985 batch) took charge as the Election Commissioner (EC) of India.

·                He joins the 3 member Election Commision of India which includes, Chief Election Commissioner(CEC) Rajiv Kumar and Election Commissioner Anup Chandra Pandey.

·                According to article 324 , a person can hold the office of an election commissioner or chief election commissioner for 6 years or till the age of 65

 

7.              15TH ASIAN AIRGUN CHAMPIONSHIP IN SOUTH KOREA

·                India topped the medal standing of the 15th Asian Airgun Championship  2022 with 25 gold medals at Daegu, South Korea

·                India ranked first in medal standing followed by South Korea (Republic of Korea) and Uzbekistan.

·                A total of 225 athletes from 17 Asian countries fairly competed in the Rifle/Pistol events.

 

8.              MAX VERSTAPPEN WINS ABU DHABI GRAND PRIX

·                Max Verstappen, two-time world champion made a record-extending 15th win of the year 2022 in AbuDhabi Grand Prix held at the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates

·                Sebastian Vettel (German)  Retires from F1 Racing

 

9.              WORLD CHILDREN’S DAY 2022 – NOVEMBER 20

·                United Nations (UN)’s World Children’s Day is annually observed across the globe on November 20 to acknowledge children’s rights, improve global child welfare, and promote unity and awareness among all children.

·                The Theme of World Children’s Day 2022 is “Inclusion, For Every Child

·                World Children’s Day is the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF)’s annual day of action for children, by children.

10.           WORLD TELEVISION DAY 2022 – NOVEMBER 21

·                United Nations (UN)’s World Television Day is annually observed across the globe on November 21 to recognise the importance and influence of television in our lives.

·                21st November was chosen to commemorate the date on which the 1st World Television Forum was held in 1996.

 

11.           WORLD FISHERIES DAY 2022 – NOVEMBER 21

·                World Fisheries Day is annually observed across the globe on 21st November to demonstrate solidarity with the members of the fisher community, fish farmers and concerned stakeholders across the world.

·                World Forum of Fish Harvesters & Fish Workers came together on 21st Novmber 1997 to unify fishermen and women across the globe.

 

12.           INTEGRATED FIRE POWER EXERCISE ‘SHATRUNASH’

·                Indian Army’s South Western Command conducted “SHATRUNASH”, the Integrated Fire Power Exercise, Mahajan Field Firing Range (MFFR) in the Thar Desert in Rajasthan.

·                MFFR, located in Bikaner Rajasthan is the army’s oldest and biggest practice area in the Thar desert.

·                South Western Command was formally raised on 15 April 2005 and Operationalised on 15 August 2005.

 

13.           MANIPUR SANGAI FESTIVAL 2022 BEGINS

·                The 10-day-long Manipur Sangai Festival 2022 (the festival of Oneness), the annual cultural festival was declared open at Bishnupur district, Manipur.

·                The theme of the Manipur Sangai Festival 2022 is the ‘Festival of Oneness’.

 

14.           NETWORK READINESS INDEX 2022 REPORT

·                The United States (US)-based non-profit Portulans Institute (PI) released its Network Readiness Index (NRI) 2022 report.

·                As per it, India moved up six spots to claim the 61st place in the index from 67th in NRI 2021.

·                The index has been topped by the United States (US) as the most network-ready society with an overall score of 80.3.  It is followed by Singapore with a score of 79.35, and Sweden with a score of 78.91 at 2nd and 3rd rank respectively.

·                India is ranked 3rd out of 36 in the group of lower-middle-income countries after Ukraine (50) and Indonesia (59) at 1st and 2nd rank respectively.

 

15.           NTPC TEAM WINS GOLD AWARD IN 47TH ICQCC-2022

·                Quality Control Circle (QCC) ABHYUDAYA, the QC team of NTPC Limited (formerly known as National Thermal Power Corporation Limited), Unchahar, Uttar Pradesh, has won the International Sudome Quality Medal – “GOLD” award in the 47th International Convention on Quality Control Circle (ICQCC-2022).

·                The theme for ICQCC-2022 is “Built Back Better through Quality Efforts

 

16.           INDIA TAKES OVER CHAIR OF GLOBAL PARTNERSHIP ON ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE FROM FRANCE

·                India took over as the Council Chair of the Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence (GPAI) for 2022-2023 from France, the outgoing Council Chair of GPAI.

·                Rajeev Chandrasekhar, Union Minister of State(MoS) for Electronics & Information Technology, represented India (virtually) at the GPAI Summit 2022, the 3rd annual meeting of GPAI, held in Tokyo, Japan.

·                Canada and the US were elected to the two additional governemnt seats on the Steering Committee 2022-2023.

·                The Government of Japan will co-chair the 2022-2023 GPAI Steering Committee with the Multistakeholder Experts Group Plenary Chair.

·                GPAI, an international initiative on AI was launched in 2020 with 15 founding members, to support responsible and human-centric development and the use of Artificial Intelligence.Presently, GPAI has 29 members 

 

17.           NITTO ATP FINALS 2022: NOVAK DJOKOVIC WON

·                Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic won the Nitto ATP (Association of Tennis Professionals) Finals title for the 6th time held at the Pala Alpitour in Turin, Italy.

·                He won the title and defeated Norway’s Casper Ruud

·                Winning his 6th ATP Finals Title, Novak Djokovic equalled Swiss tennis player, Roger Federer’s record for ATP Finals Championship.

·                Carlos Alcaraz (Spain) creates history by becoming Youngest Year-End ATP World No. 1, Presented ByPepperstone.

 

18.           NORTH EAST OLYMPIC GAMES 2022: MANIPUR TOPS MEDAL TALLY

·                Manipur tops the medal tally of the North East Olympic Games 2022 with 240 Medals( 88 gold, 75 silver and 77 bronze).

·                This is the 2nd consecutive time Manipur has to top the medal tally of the event.

·                2nd Edition North East Olympic Games (2022), was held at Shillong, Meghalaya

·                Assam secured 2nd position in the medal tally with 203 medals (79 golds, 61 silver and 63 bronze) followed by Arunachal Pradesh with 112 medals (39 gold, 36 silver and 37 bronze)

·                Nagaland is set to host the 3rd edition of the Northeast Olympic Games.
