 1.              PM MODI LAUNCHES KARMAYOGI PRARAMBH MODULE

·                Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi distributed over 71,000 appointment letters via video conferencing to newly enlisted recruits under Rozgar Mela in 45 places across India (except Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh).

·                He also introduced the Karmayogi Prarambh module, an online orientation course for all newly appointed employees of different government departments.

 

2.              INDIA’S FIRST SUICIDE PREVENTION POLICY

·                The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoH&FW) introduced National Suicide Prevention Strategy, the first of its kind in India, to achieve a reduction in suicide mortality by 10% by 2030 

·                The National Suicide Prevention Strategy aims to establish,Effective surveillance mechanisms for suicide within the next 3 years.

·                Psychiatric outpatient departments that will provide suicide prevention services through the District Mental Health Programme in all districts within the next 5 years;

·                Integrates a mental well-being curriculum in all educational institutions within the next 8 years.

·                In the past 3 years, the suicide rate has increased from 10.2 to 11.3 per 1,00,000 population.

·                The most common reasons for suicide include family problems and illnesses, account for 34% and 18% respectively of all suicide-related deaths.

·                In India, tops in suicide under the 15-29 years category and also more than 1 lakh lives are lost every year to suicide.

 

3.              QATAR SIGNS WORLD’S ‘LONGEST’ GAS SUPPLY DEAL WITH CHINA

·                Qatar Energy signed the 27-year natural gas supply deal with China, referring to it as the “Longest” ever seen as it strengthened ties with Asia at a time when Europe is looking for alternate supplies.

·                The deal marks the longest gas supply agreement in the history of the LNG industry.

·                Since Russia invaded Ukraine, European nations have become more interested in Qatar’s gas, which is primarily sold to Asian nations led by China, Japan, and South Korea.

 

4.              OECD ECONOMIC OUTLOOK -WORLD ECONOMY TO GROW JUST 2.2% IN 2023

·                As per the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) estimations in its ‘OECD Economic Outlook, November 2022- Confronting the Crisis’, the world economy will grow just 3.1% in 2022, down from a robust 5.9% in 2021.

·                This growth will worsen in 2023 to just 2.2%.

·                India’s economy is expected to grow 6.6% in 2022 and 5.7% in 2023.

5.              UNEP CHAMPIONS OF THE EARTH 2022 HONOUR

·                The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) has named the 2022Champions of the Earth, honouring five environmental protectors —a conservationist, an enterprise, an economist, a women’s rights activist, and a wildlife biologist

·                The annual UNEP Champions of the Earth award, established in 2005, is the highest environmental honour bestowed by the United Nations (UN).

·                Dr. Purnima Devi Barman, an Assam-based wildlife biologist from India, has received the UNEP 2022 Champions of the Earth award in the Entrepreneurial Vision category.

·                Barman received the award for her efforts to protect the greater adjutant stork, known as “Hargila” in Assamese, by establishing the “Hargila Army,” an all-female grassroots conservation campaign.

 

6.              2022 JCB PRIZE FOR LITERATURE

·                “The Paradise of Food” authored by noted Urdu writer Khalid Jawed, and translated by BaranFarooqi from Urdu to English won the 2022 JCB Prize for Literature.

·                Khalid Jawed is an Indian Novelist and a leading Urdu Fiction writer 

 

7.              CAMBRIDGE DICTIONARY REVEALS ‘HOMER’ AS WORD OF THE YEAR 2022

·                The Cambridge Dictionary has revealed its word of the year for 2022 as ‘homer’, an informal American English word for a home run in baseball.

·                The word ‘homer’ was searched for nearly 75,000 times during the first week of May 2022, when it was an answer in the word game, “Wordle”.

·                There were also other five-letter words in search including, ‘humor’, the American spelling was second-highest in 2022, followed by ‘caulk’, ‘tacit’, and ‘bayou’.

 

8.              12TH GLOBAL EMPLOYABILITY UNIVERSITY RANKING & SURVEY 2022-23:

·                The Times Higher Education (THE) released the 12th edition of its annual Global Employability University Ranking and Survey (GEURS) 2022-2023

·                 It featured 7 Indian universities among the top 250 universities in the world for graduate employability.

·                The Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi (IIT-D) was the highest-ranked Indian university with a global rank of 28th, and the only Indian institute in the top 50.

·                The list has been topped by the United States’ (US) Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

·                India’s Amity University, and Bangalore University are the new entrants in this list.

 

9.              WIPO: GLOBAL INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY FILINGS REACH RECORD LEVELS IN 2021

·                According to the World Intellectual Property Indicators 2021 report by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), Global innovators submitted 3.4 million patent applications in 2021, an increase of 3.6% from 2020.

·                Nearly 67.6% of all applications worldwide were received by offices in Asia.

·                In 2021, China (+5.5%), India (+5.5%), and the Republic of Korea (+2.5%) experienced rapid increases in local patent filings.

·                In 2021, local patenting decreased in the United States (-1.2%), Japan (-1.7%), and Germany (-3.9%).

10.           EXERCISE GARUDA SHAKTI BETWEEN INDIAN & INDONESIA

·                The 8th edition of the India-Indonesia bilateral joint training exercise “Garuda Shakti” began at the Sangga Buana training centre in Karawang, west Java, Indonesia.

·                Exercise Garuda Shakti 2022 is a part of military-to-military exchange programs.

 

11.           GSTN INCLUDED IN FIP LIST UNDER ACCOUNT AGGREGATOR FRAMEWORK

·                The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has included Goods and Services Tax Network (GSTN) in the list of Financial Information Providers (FIPs) under the Account Aggregator (AA) Framework. 

·                This decision has been taken to facilitate cash flow-based lending to MSMEs (Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises).

·                For this purpose, GSTN will be regulated by the Department of Revenue, Ministry of Finance.

·                The financial information will be Goods and Services Tax (GST) Returns, viz. Form GSTR-1 and Form GSTR-3B

·                So far, there are six AAs in India with operating licenses and nine AAs with in-principle approval from RBI. 

·                FIPs include banks, non-banking financial companies, asset management companies, depository, depository participants, insurance companies, and pension funds.

 

12.           DR ABDUL KALAM SEVA PURASKAR

·                One of India’s youngest entrepreneurs, Ravi Kumar Sagar,founder and CEO of the INNO group, was honoured with Dr Abdul KalamSevaPuraskar for his persistent service to society.

·                The award was given to him for his steadfast service to society.

13.           Dr KalamSevaPuraskar is hosted every year by Vande Bharat Foundation and Lead India Foundation to commemorate the birth anniversary (15th October) of the late former President of India Dr APJ AdulKalam.

 

14.           PAYAL KANWAR CONFERRED THE FRENCH NATIONAL ORDER

·                Payal S Kanwar, Director General (DG) of the Indo-French Chamber of Commerce (IFCCI)/ CCI France-Inde, has been honoured with the  French National Order, the insignia of Chevalier de l’Ordre national du Mérit by the Ambassador of France to India, Emmanuel Lenain, at a special ceremony held in France.

·                Payal S Kanwar was honoured in recognition of her outstanding commitment and contribution towards developing and promoting economic and bilateral relations between India and France and also upon expanding the French business ecosystem in India.

 

15.           MANJULA (YARD 786), 7TH FERRY CRAFT LAUNCHED AT KOLKATA, WEST BENGAL

·                Manjula Ferry Craft was built under the ‘Make in India’ initiative of Ministry of Defence (MoD) with all major and auxiliary equipment or systems sourced from indigenous manufacturers.

·                These Ferry Crafts are being built with a life span of 25 years and provide impetus to operational and logistics requirements of the Indian Navy.

 

16.           UK COMPANIES RATE MAHARASHTRA AS TOP STATE TO DO BUSINESS: UKIBC REPORT

·                The United Kingdom India Business Council (UKIBC) released its 8th annual ‘Doing Business in India’ 2022 Report. As per it, Maharashtra is rated highest amongst States in terms of the operating environment.

·                It is followed by GujaratChandigarhHaryanaHimachal Pradesh (HP), Andhra Pradesh (AP), and Uttar Pradesh (UP).

 

17.           “NASEEM AL BAHR” INDIAN NAVY -OMAN NAVY BILATERAL EXERCISE

·                The 13th edition of the bilateral exercise “Naseem Al Bahr” (Sea Breeze) between the Indian Navy (IN) and Royal Navy of Oman (RNO) took place off the coast of Oman 

·                Exercise “Naseem Al Bahr” 2022 consisted of 3 phases: the harbour phase, the sea phase, and the debrief.

 

18.           ARMY CHIEF GENERAL MANOJ PANDE RECEIVES GUARD OF HONOUR IN PARIS

·                Army Chief General Manoj Pande received a Guard of Honour at the Les Invalides in Paris, France, when he was on a four-day visit to France.

·                During his visit, he interacted with the Chief of Staff of the French Army General Pierre Schill and had a discussion upon issues of mutual interest.

 

19.           NEW PRIME MINISTER OF MALAYSIA

·                Anwar bin Ibrahim (75-year-old) leader of Malaysia’s PakatanHarapan coalition was sworn in as the 10th Prime Minister (PM) of Malaysia.

·                Malaysia’s king, Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah, named Anwar Ibrahim as Malaysia’s(PM).

·                In less than 5 years (since 2018), he is the 4th PM of Malaysia.

·                Anwar Ibrahim succeeds the 9th Prime Minister of Malaysia, Ismail SabriYaakob.

·                Anwar Ibrahim’s Alliance of Hope (PakatanHarapan) won the highest number of parliamentary seats at 82 seats but still fell short of 112, the number required to form the government.

·                Malaysian Parliament:The bicameral (two-Chamber) parliament consists of the Dewan Rakyat (222 elected members) (House of Representatives or literally People’s Hall) and the Dewan Negara (70 Senators) (Nation’s Hall in Malay; however, it is commonly referred to as the Senate).

·                Members of the Dewan Rakyat are known as Members of Parliament (MPs) while members of the Dewan Negara are called Senators.

 

20.           INDIA WINS IEC VICE PRESIDENCY & SMB CHAIR FOR 2023-25

·                India won the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) vice presidency and Strategic Management Board (SMB) chair for the 2023-25 term.

·                India’s representative, VimalMahendru was elected as the IEC vice president.

·                Standardization Management Board (SMB) is an apex governance body of IEC responsible for technical policy matters.

·                The Chair of the SMB is an ex officio Vice-President of IEC for the duration of his/her term. 

·                IEC is an international standard setting body that publishes international Standards for all electrical, electronic and related technologies.

21.           INTERNATIONAL DAY FOR THE ELIMINATION OF VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN 2022 – NOVEMBER 25 

·                The theme of International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women 2022 is “UNITE! Activism to End Violence against Women & Girls”.

·                According to a new study by United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime(UNODC) and UN Women, in 2021, for every hour, more than 5 women or girls were killed by someone in their own family.
