1.              INDIA’S FIRST DRONE YATRA IN CHENNAI

·                The Union Minister Anurag Singh Thakur, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports (MYAS) and Minister of Information and Broadcasting, inaugurated India’s first Drone Skilling and Training Virtual E-Learning Platform in Chennai, Tamil Nadu (TN).

·                He also flagged off Garuda Aerospace Private Limited’s Drone Yatra at Agni College of Technology in Thalambur, TN, ‘Operation 777’ which envisages to educate and demonstrate the efficacy of drones for different agricultural uses across 777 districts in India.

·                The Meghalaya government in partnership with startupTechEagle has unveiled Meghalaya Drone Delivery Network (MDDN) and hub which is Asia’s first drone delivery hub and network aimed at providing universal access to healthcare for 2.7 million people of Meghalaya.

 

2.              BBC’S 100 WOMEN LIST 2022

·                4 Indian Women, Actress and producer, Priyanka Chopra Jonas; SirishaBandlaAeronautical engineer; Booker-winning author Geetanjali Shree and Social Worker SnehaJawale, are featured on the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC)’s 100 Women list 2022, a list of 100 inspiring and influential women from around the world for 2022.

·                The 2022 list reflects the role of women at the heart of conflict around the world in 2022.

 

3.              WORLD ATHLETES OF THE YEAR 2022

·                American hurdler and 2022 World champion Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone and Swedish pole vaulter and current Olympic and World champion Armand Mondo Duplantis have been named the World Athletes of the Year 2022 by Global Sports governing body the World Athletics.

·                McLaughlin-Levrone broke the world women’s 400 m hurdles record twice and Mondo Duplantis has set three new world records in 2022.

 

4.              MISS EARTH 2022

·                South Korea’s Mina Sue Choi was crowned Miss Earth 2022 at the Okada Manila in Parañaque, Metro Manila, Philippines.

·                VanshikaParmar of Nadaun, Hamirpur (Himachal Pradesh), was crowned as Miss Earth India 2022.

·                Miss Earth is an annual international prominent beauty contest held in the Philippines that promotes social responsibility, environmental awareness, and environmental conservation.

 

5.              INDIA’S 77TH CHESS GRANDMASTER

·                The Mumbai (Maharashtra)-Player Aditya Mittal, 16-year-old, has become India’s 77th chess Grandmaster (GM) during an ongoing 3rd edition of El Llobregat Open Chess Tournament in Spain.

·                To become a Grandmaster (GM), a player has to secure 3 GM norms and cross the live rating of 2,500 ELO points.

·                He is the 5th Indian to achieve the GM title in 2022 after BharathSubramaniyam (73rd GM), Rahul Srivatshav (74th GM), V Pranav (75th GM), and Pranav Anand (76th GM).

 

6.              INTERNATIONAL CIVIL AVIATION DAY 2022 – DECEMBER 7

·                The day also highlights the unique role of International Civil Aviation Organization(ICAO), a UN Specialized agency, in supporting the member states to cooperate and realize the global rapid transit network.

·                The theme of International Civil Aviation Day 2022 is “Advancing Innovation for Global Aviation Development”.

·                ICAO is funded and directed by 193 national governments to support their diplomacy and cooperation in air transport as signatory states to the Chicago Convention (1944).

7.              ARMED FORCES FLAG DAY 2022 – DECEMBER 7

·                Armed Forces Flag Day is annually observed across India on December 7 to honour the martyrs, men and women in the armed forces who bravely fought on the borders to safeguard the country’s honour.

·                Flag Day emphasises the dedication to caring for the war-disabled soldiers, Veer Naris and the families of Martyrs who died in the line of duty.

8.              RBI’S BI-MONTHLY MONETARY POLICY OF 2022-23

·                The Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) met on December 5-7, 2022 , and released the Monetary Policy Statement, 2022-23 Resolution of the MPC which declined India’s real Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth to 6.8% for FY23 from 7% (projected in September 2022) with FY23’s Q3 at 4.4%; and Q4 at 4.2%.

·                Inflation is projected at 6.7% in FY23, with Q3 at 6.6% and Q4 at 5.9%, and risks evenly balanced.

·                MPC extended the dispensation of enhanced Held to Maturity (HTM) limit of 23% of deposits in respect of statutory liquidity ratio (SLR) securities up to March 31, 2024.

·                The Reserve Bank of India was established on April 1, 1935, in accordance with the provisions of the Reserve Bank of India Act, 1934.

 

9.              TIME MAGAZINE’S 2022 PERSON OF THE YEAR

·                Time Magazine has named Ukrainian president VolodymyrZelensky and “the spirit of Ukraine” as its 2022 Person of the Year

·                The ‘spirit of Ukraine’ referred to Ukrainians around the world along with those who fought behind the scenes, including people like IevgenKlopotenko, a chef who provided thousands of free meals to Ukrainians and medic YuliiaPayevska, who was captured and then released after 3 months in Russian captivity.

·                Women in Iran and Roya Piraei, whose mother was killed in protests in iran, speaks out, were recognized as Time’s 2022 Heroes of the year and the Korean-pop(K-Pop) band Blackpink were recognised as Time’s Entertainer of the year 2022.

·                American baseballer Aaron Judge has been recognised as the Athlete of the Year and Malaysian actress Michelle Yeoh is recognised as the Icon of the Year 2022.

·                Former NASA administrator Gregory Robinson and The James Webb Telescope was recognised as Innovator of the year 2022.

 

10.           FORBES’ 2022 ‘THE WORLD’S 100 MOST POWERFUL WOMEN’

·                Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman (36th) ,RoshniNadar Malhotra (53rd) and Nykaa creator FalguniNayar (89th) are among six Indians who have made the list.

·                The list features 11 billionaires with a combined net worth of USD 115 billion, 10 heads of state, and 39 Chief Executive Officers (CEOs).

·                List Topped by Ursula von der Leyen of Germany

·                Union Minister Nirmala Sitaraman, Ministry of Finance, is placed 36th and featured on the list for a record-breaking fourth time in a row. She is India’s first full-time female finance minister.

 

11.           1ST FEMALE PRESIDENT OF  PERU 

·                Vice President of Peru, Dina ErciliaBoluarteZegarra, was sworn in as the first Female President of Peru after Pedro Castillo, President of Peru, was ousted by Congress and arrested on a charge of rebellion.

·                Peru’s Congress removed President Pedro Castillo shortly after he attempted to dissolve the legislative body(Congress) and take unilateral control of the government, triggering a serious constitutional crisis.

12.           N CHANDRASEKARAN APPOINTED AS CHAIR OF B20 INDIA

·                The Government of India has appointed N Chandrasekaran, Chairman of Tata Sons Private Limited, as the Chair of Business 20 (B20) India to lead the business agenda during India’s G20 Presidency.

·                The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) has been appointed as the B20 India Secretariat by the government to lead the B20 India process.

·                The Business 20 (B20), established in 2010, is the official G-20 dialogue forum with the global business community.

·                B20 India has identified priorities for deliberations under the theme “R.A.I.S.E – Responsible, Accelerated, Innovative, Sustainable, and Equitable Businesses.”

 

13.           AUTOBIOGRAPHY OF PAKISTANI CRICKETER WASIM AKRAM: “SULTAN: A MEMOIR”

·                Harper Collins Publishers India Pvt. Ltd. has announced to release of the autobiography of Pakistani Cricketer WasimAkram titled “Sultan: A Memoir“

·                The book was written by WasimAkram along with veteran cricket writer from Australia, Gideon Haigh.

 

14.           MNRE EXTENDS ROOFTOP SOLAR SCHEME TILL MARCH 2026

·                The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has extended the ‘Rooftop Solar Programme’ till March 2026.

·                MNRE is implementing the Rooftop Solar Programme Phase-II to achieve a cumulative capacity of 40,000 MW from Rooftop Solar Projects by 2022 (now extended to 2026).

·                Under, the Ministry is providing a 40% subsidy for the first 3 kW (Kilo Watt) and 20% subsidy beyond 3 kW and upto 10 kW of solar panel capacity.

·                The subsidy under National Portal has been fixed at Rs. 14,588/- per kW (for capacity upto 3 kW).

·                It is being implemented in the state by distribution companies (DISCOMs).

 

15.           INDIAN & US NAVIES CONDUCT SPECIAL FORCES EXERCISE “SANGAM” IN GOA 

·                The 7th edition of Exercise “Sangam,“ a joint Naval Special Forces exercise involving Indian Navy Marine Commandos (MARCOs) and United States (US) Navy Sea, Air, and Land (SEAL) Teams, has commenced in Goa

·                The first ‘Exercise Sangam’ was held in 1994.

·                ‘Exercise Malabar’ is an annual naval special forces exercise that includes US SEALs, Indian Navy MARCOs, and other participating nations.

·                In November 2022, the 18th edition of the Indo-US joint training exercise “YUDH ABHYAS 22“ commenced in Uttarakhand.

 

16.           IDF NAMED BANGLADESH PM SHEIKH HASINA AS 1ST GLOBAL AMBASSADOR FOR DIABETES

·                Sheikh Hasina, Prime Minister (PM) of Bangladesh, has been named the “Global Ambassador for Diabetes” by the International Diabetic Federation (IDF) at the opening ceremony of the World Diabetes Congress 2022 held in Lisbon, Portugal.

·                PM Sheikh Hasina is the 1st Global Ambassador for Diabetes.

 

17.           NEW YORK FED APPOINTS SUSHMITA SHUKLA AS FIRST VICE PRESIDENT & COO

·                An Indian-origin, Sushmita Shukla has been appointed as 1st Vice President (VP) and Chief Operating Officer (COO) by the Board of Directors of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York (New York Fed), with effect from March 2023.

·                Sushmita Shukla will be the New York Fed’s 2nd-ranking officer as First Vice President.

 

18.           RETIRED AIR MARSHAL P.V. IYER LAUNCHED BOOK ‘FIT AT ANY AGE’

·                Retired Air Marshal P V Iyer, has authored and launched a book “Fit at Any Age: A Practitioner’s Guide“, in which he tells how people can make fitness part of their everyday activities at any age, leaving sufficient time for leisure.

·                His book “Fit at Any Age” combines personal anecdotes, science-based logic, and simple tips to tell an inspirational story about how anything is possible at any age.

 

19.           INTERNATIONAL ANTI-CORRUPTION DAY 2022 – DECEMBER 9

·                The United Nations(UN)’s International Anti-Corruption Day(IACD) is annually observed across the globe on 9th December to create awareness about the negative impacts of corruption and the role of the UN Convention on combating and preventing corruption.

·                The theme of IACD 2022 is “UNCAC at 20: Uniting the World Against Corruption”.
