1.       1st Indigenous Developed Diving Support Vessel ‘INS Nistar’

·         Hindustan Shipyard Limited (HSL), Indian defence Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) under the Ministry of Defence (MoD), delivered Indian Naval Ship (INS) Nistar, 1st indigenously designed and built Diving Support Vessel (DSV) to the Indian Navy (IN) at Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh (AP).

·         INS Nistar is highly specialized and capable of undertaking Deep Sea Diving and Rescue Operations.

·         It is 118 metre (m)-long, 10,000 tonne(t) vessel, equipped with state-of-the-art diving equipment and has the capability to undertake deep sea saturation diving up to 300 m depth.

·         The ship also features a side diving stage for undertaking diving operations up to 75 m depth.

·         It will also serve as the ‘Mother Ship’ for the Deep Submergence Rescue Vessel (DSRV), for rescue and evacuation of personnel, in case of an emergency in a submarine underwater.

·         It is also equipped with various Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs) to undertake divers monitoring and salvage operations at depths of up to 1,000 m.

·         Lando Norris (United Kingdom), Formula One (F1) driver representing McLaren, won the F1 British Grand Prix (GP) 2025.

·         Oscar Piastri (McLaren) finished 2nd.

 

3.       SUPER UNITED RAPID & BLITZ CROATIA 2025

·         Magnus Carlsen of Norway, the World No.1 chess player, won the Super United Rapid & Blitz Croatia 2025 tournament held in Zagreb, Croatia.

·         This marked his 10th victory in 12 Grand Chess Tour (GCT) rapid and blitz events and his sixth consecutive tournament win in 2025.

·         Wesley So from USA finishing second overall.

·         D Gukesh from India finished third overall.

 

4.       NEERAJ CHOPRA CLASSIC TOURNAMENT

·         Neeraj Chopra won gold with the best of 86.18 metre (m) in Javelin throw in the inaugural edition of Neeraj Chopra (NC) Classic 2025, a World Athletics Gold-level event, held in Bengaluru, Karnataka.

·         JuliusYego of Kenya won silver (84.51m) and Rumesh Pathirage of Sri Lanka won Bronze (84.34m).

·         The event marks the first World Athletics Gold-level javelin meet held in India.

 

5.       ASIAN PARA ARCHERY CHAMPIONSHIPS 2025

·         The 2025 Asian Para Archery Championships was held in Beijing, China. 

·         China topped the overall medal tally with a total of 17 medals (10 gold, 4 silver, 3 bronze).

·         India secured second position with 9 medals (3 gold, 3 silver, 3 bronze) followed by Singapore.

 

6.       FIRST INDIAN TO RUN 100M IN LESS THAN 10.2 SECONDS

·         Indian sprinter Animesh Kujur secured first place in the Men’s 100 metre(m) (Final B) at the Dromia International Sprints and Relays in Vari, Greece, with a record-setting time of 10.18 seconds, making him the first Indian to break the 10.20-second mark.

·         He surpassing Gurindervir Singh’s previous national record.

·         In the overall standings, he secured third place, behind Benjamin Richardson (10.01) of South Africa and Ali Anwar Al-Balushi (10.12) of Onam.

 

7.       2ND LEG OF WORLD BOXING CUP 2025

·         The 2nd leg of the 2025 World Boxing Cup was held in Astana, Kazakhstan.

·         India won 11 medals (3 Gold, 5 Silver, and 3 Bronze), finished third in the medal tally.

·         Kazakhstan topped the medal tally with 16 medals in that 8 Gold Medals, followed by Brazil in second place with 7 medals including 4 Gold.

·         The tournament featured participation from over 400 boxers representing 31 countries, competing across 20 weight categories.

·         Sakshi, won the Gold medal in the Women’s 54 kilogram (kg) category.

·         Jaismine Lamboria, won the Gold medal in the Women’s 57 kg category.

·         Nupur Sheoran won the Gold medal in the Women’s 80+ kg category.

 

8.       INDIA BECOMES WORLD’S 4TH LARGEST BIOFUEL CONSUMER IN 2024

·         The 74th edition of the Statistical Review of World Energy (2025), released by the London based Energy Institute (EI) reported that India became the world’s fourth-largest biofuel consumer in 2024, surpassing China for the second consecutive year.

·         India’s biofuel consumption rose by 40% Year-on-Year(Y-o-Y) to 77,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day (kbbloe/d) in 2024.

·         The report highlighted that USA remained the world’s largest biofuel producer and consumer.

·         Following the USA, Brazil and Indonesia ranked as the next largest consumers.

·         The USA, Brazil, and Europe combined accounted for approximately 75% of total global biofuel consumption.

·         India and Indonesia together accounted for 63% of Asia Pacific’s biofuel demand in 2024.

·         India continued to lag behind China in production capacity for the 10th consecutive year in 2024.

·         India’s biofuel production rose 27% Y-o-Y, reaching 70 kbbloe/d, maintaining a 30.4% CAGR since 2014.

 

9.       NVIDIA BECOMES WORLD’S FIRST COMPANY TO HIT USD 4 TRILLION MARKET VALUE

·         USA-based Nvidia Corporation, a global leader in accelerated computing and artificial intelligence (AI), became the world’s first publicly traded company to achieve a market capitalisation of USD 4 trillion.

·         With this achievement, Nvidia has surpassed Microsoft Corporation, which holds the second position with a market value of USD 3.75 trillion, while Apple Inc. ranks third with a valuation of USD 3.17 trillion.

·         The day also commemorates the establishment of Dhaka (Bangladesh) based Centre on Integrated Rural Development for Asia and the Pacific (CIRDAP) on July 6, 1979.

·         The WRDD 2025 is focussed on “Rural Empowerment – Global Impact,”.

·         The priority themes of WRDD 2025 include Ending Rural Poverty & Hunger, Climate-Resilient Livelihoods, Digital & Financial Inclusion, Empowering Women & Youth, and Infrastructure & Services.

·         2025 marks the 31st anniversary of the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD) Programme of Action.

·         The 2025 theme for World Population Day is “Empowering young people to create the families they want in a fair and hopeful world”.

·         The idea for World Population Day was inspired by the world population reaching five billion on July 11, 1987, prompting Dr. K.C. Zachariah, a senior demographer at the World Bank, to propose commemorating the milestone.
