1.     EFFECTIVE IMPLEMENTATION OF NEW CRIMINAL LAWS AND ICJS 2.0

·       Uttarakhand secured the first position in India in the implementation of the Inter-Operable Criminal Justice System (ICJS) 2.0, scoring 93.46 on the latest ICJS/Crime and Criminal Tracking Network & Systems (CCTNS) Progress Dashboard released by the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) with data up to January 2026.

·       Haryana ranked second (93.41), followed by Assam (93.16), Sikkim (91.82), and Madhya Pradesh(MP) (90.55).

 


2.     FATF MONITORING LIST

·       The Financial Task Force (FATF) placed Kuwait, and New Guinea to its list of jurisdictions under increased monitoring, which is often referred to as ‘Grey List’, thereby bringing  thetotal number of the countries in the list to 22.

·       The decision was taken during the 5th FATF Plenary meeting under the Presidency of Elisa de AndaMadrazo (Mexico) in Mexico City, Mexico.

·       The Grey list identifies countries with strategic deficiencies in their Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Counter-Terrorist Financing (CFT) system.

 

3.     ICC MEN’S T20 WORLD CUP TITLE 2026

·       The India men’s national cricket team won the 10th edition of the International Cricket Council (ICC) Men’s Twenty20 (T20) World Cup 2026 by defeating New Zealand by 96 runs in the final held at the world’s largest cricket stadium ‘Narendra Modi Stadium’, Ahmedabad (Gujarat).

·       India won its third ICC T20 World Cup title, having previously won the second title in 2024 and the first in the inaugural 2007 edition, becoming the first team to successfully defend the championship.

·       The 10th ICC Men’s T20I World Cup was co-hosted by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC).

·       The ICC allocated a USD 13.5 million prize pool, with India winning USD 3 million (about Rs.27.48 crore) after defeating New Zealand (USD 1.6 million) in the final.

·       Player of the Final-Jasprit Bumrah,4/15 in 4 overs.

4.     AUSTRALIAN GRAND PRIX 2026 

·       George Russell of Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One (F1) Team won the 2026 Australian Grand Prix (GPat the Albert Park Circuit in Melbourne, Australia.

·       Kimi Antonelli  finishedsecond while Charles Leclerc of Scuderia Ferrari finished third.

 

5.     INDIA TO HOST ASIA CUP ARCHERY 2027

·       New Delhi is set to host the second leg of the Asia Cup Archery in 2027, marking India’s first international archery event in 22 years since the Asian Archery Championships held in Delhi in 2005.

·        Ahmedabad (Gujarat) will host the Asian Para Archery Championships 2026 in September 2026.

·       Kolkata (WB) will host the South Asian Archery Championships 2026.

·       The opening leg of the Asia Cup Archery is scheduled in Bangkok, Thailandin March 2026.

·       The second leg of the tournament will be held in Iraq, while the third and final leg is scheduled in China.

·       Archery World Cup 2026: This year’s Archery World Cup is scheduled in Puebla, Mexico.

·       The 2nd and 3rd leg of the tournament will be hosted by China and Turkey in Shanghai (May, 2026) and Antalya (June , 2026), respectively.

 

6.     BIODIVERSITY REPORT TO CONVENTION ON BIOLOGICAL DIVERSITY

·       The Government of India (GoI) submitted its 7th National Report (NR7) to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), presenting a comprehensive assessment of its progress toward the 2030 global biodiversity goals by evaluating performance across 23 national biodiversity targets aligned with the Kunming–Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (KMGBF).

·       The report was prepared by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) with inputs from 33 central ministries and departments.

·       The KMGBF’s targets by 2030 include protecting 30% of the world’s land and marine areas, restoring degraded ecosystems, and halting species extinction.

·       The report notes that while India has largely completed the planning and policy alignment phase of its biodiversity commitments, achieving the 2030 goals will depend on effective implementation of actions across the remaining years of the decade.

 

7.     SIPRI REPORT 2025

·       The Swedish think tank Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) released its latest report titled ‘Trends in International Arms Transfers, 2025’ which highlighted that India remained the world’s second-largest arms importer during 2021–2025, accounting for 8.2% of global arms imports.

·       Ukraine emerged as the largest global arms importer, receiving 9.7% of total international arms transfers during the period while Saudi Arabia ranked 3rd with 6.8% of global arms importer.

·       USAFrance, and Russia were the top 3 global arms exporters during this period.

·       Europe emerged as the largest arms-importing region, accounting for 33% of global imports (up from 12%) over the last five years.

·       India remained the largest recipient of French arms (24% of France’s exports) and the largest destination for Russian arms exports (48%), highlighting India’s diversified defence partnerships.

 

8.     NITI AAYOG RELEASES FISCAL HEALTH INDEX 2026

·       Suman Bery, Vice-Chairman of the National Institution for Transforming India (NITI Aayog), and Nidhi Chhibber, Chief Executive Officer (CEO, Additional Charge) of NITI Aayog, released the second annual edition of the “Fiscal Health Index (FHI) 2026” in New Delhi.

·       FHI 2026 evaluates the fiscal performance and financial soundness of Indian states for the Financial Year 2023-24 (FY24), based on data from the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG).

·       Odisha secured the top rank with an FHI score of 73.1, followed by Goa (54.7) and Jharkhand (50.5).

·       The Front-Runner category includes Gujarat, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh (UP) and Karnataka.

·       Madhya Pradesh (MP), Haryana, Bihar, Tamil Nadu (TN) and Rajasthan fall under the Performer category, reflecting moderate fiscal management with scope for improvement.

·       West Bengal (WB), Kerala, Andhra Pradesh (AP) and Punjab are placed in the Aspirational category, characterised by higher fiscal deficits, elevated debt levels (35–45 percent of GSDP), and large committed expenditures.

 

9.     INDIA AND SEYCHELLES MILITARY ‘EXERCISE LAMITIYE 2026’

·       The Indian Armed Forces and the Seychelles Defence Forces (SDF) commenced the 11th edition of the Joint Military Exercise ‘LAMITIYE-2026’ at the Seychelles Defence Academy (SDA), Victoria, Seychelles.

·       LAMITIYE-2026 marks the first tri-service participation of the Indian Armed Forces in the exercise.
