1.       48TH VICE CHIEF OF NAVAL STAFF

·         Vice Admiral Ajay Kochhar, Commander-in-Chief(CoC), Andaman and Nicobar(A&N) Command, assumed charge as the 48th Vice Chief of the Naval Staff (VCNS) of the Indian Navy (IN).

·         He succeeded Vice Admiral Sanjay Vatsayan, who has taken over as the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief (FOC-in-C) of the Western Naval Command.

 


2.       81ST PRESIDENT OF UNGA

·         Khalilur Rahman, Foreign Minister (FM) of Bangladesh, was elected the President of the 81st session of United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), for a one-year term, after defeating Andreas Kakouris, Special Envoy of Cyprus’s FM for Multilateralism.

·         He will succeed Annalena Charlotte Alma Baerbock, former FM of Germany, whose tenure ends in September 2026.

 

3.       CBSE CHAIRPERSON

·         The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC), approved the appointment of Prashant Sitaram Lokhande, as the Chairperson of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).

·         The ACC also appointed Varun Bhardwaj, Director in the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education(MoE) as CBSE Secretary, succeeding Himanshu Gupta.

 

4.       CHIEF MINISTER OF KARNATAKA

·         DoddalahalliKempegowdaShivakumar (D.K. Shivakumar), from the Indian National Congress (INC), Kanakapura constituency, was sworn in as 25th Chief Minister (CM) of Karnataka after Siddaramaiah stepped down.

·         Governor Thawar Chand Gehlot administered the oath of office and secrecy to Shivakumar and his newly appointed cabinet ministers under Article 164.

 

5.       DENMARK PM

·         Mette Frederiksen, leader of the Social Democrats, secured a third consecutive term as Prime Minister of Denmark

·         Mette Frederiksenwas appointed PM in June 2019 and became the head of a Social Democrat-led minority government. 

·         She was subsequently re-elected in 2022.

·         She is the second woman to serve as PM of Denmark, after Helle Thorning-Schmidt, and remains the youngest person ever to hold the office.

6.       ED OF WORLD BANK 

·         The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC), approved the appointment of Economist Neelkanth Mishra as Executive Director (ED) of the World Bank (WB) for a three-year tenure.

·         He will succeed ParameswaranIyer.

 

7.       CEO OF INDIAAI MISSION 

·         Saurabh Vijay, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), assumed additional charge as the new CEO of IndiaAI (Artificial Intelligence) Mission, under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY).

·         SudeepShrivastava, Joint Secretary, MeitY, has assumed charge as Chief Operating Officer (COO) of IndiaAI Mission.

 

8.       10TH NHA ESTIMATES FOR FY23

·         The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoH&FW) released the National Health Accounts (NHA) estimates for India for financial year 2022-23 (FY23), the 10th report on health expenditure estimates.

·         Government Health Expenditure (GHE) increased from Rs 1.30 lakh crore (Cr) in 2013-14 to Rs 3.85 lakh Cr in 2022-23, stating higher public investment in the health sector.

·         The report is prepared by the National Health Accounts Technical Secretariat (NHATS), National Health Systems Resource Centre (NHSRC), MoH&FW, using the System of Health Accounts (2011) framework.

·         In FY23, the THE for India is estimated at Rs 8.81 lakh Cr, 3.37% of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) with base year 2022-23.

 

9.       INDIA TO ACQUIRE 114 RAFALE JET  

·         Government of India (GoI) issued a Letter of Request (LoR) to Government of France for a government-to-government deal worth around Rs.3.25 lakh crore for the acquisition of 114 Rafale fighter jets for the Indian Air Force (IAF).

·         Under the proposed deal, out of the 114 Rafale jets, around 94 aircraft are proposed to be manufactured in India by French manufacturer Dassault Aviation in partnership with an Indian company.
