2. RBI GRANTS 12 YEARS TO LIC FOR REDUCING STAKE IN IDBI BANK
Life Insurance Corporation, the largest insurance company in India, got 12 years from RBI for cut down stake in IDBI Bank.
LIC is the lender’s major shareholder, and it has a 51 per cent stake in the Bank.
Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority  claimed that LIC can take up to 15 percent stake in any bank,which can stretch up to 30 percent as per the board approval.But the insurance regulator has authorised LIC to hold up to 51 percent in IDBI Bank in 2018.

1. NAMAMI GANGE GETS APPROVED WITH GLOBAL RECOGNITION AT GLOBAL WATER SUMMIT
The National Mission for Clean Ganga was awarded the distinction of “Public Water Agency of the Year” by Global Water Intelligence at the Global Water Summit in London. The Global Water Awards are presented at the Global Water Summit, the major business conference for the water industry worldwide.

2. FIRST-EVER GLOBAL COALITION LAUNCHED FOR CLEAN COOLING
The 1st ever of global coalition on clean and efficient cooling was launched at First Global Conference on Synergies between the 2030 Agenda and Paris Agreement in Copenhagen, Denmark.
This coalition is aim to identify solutions and mobilise action to accelerate progress towards clean and efficient cooling.

3. THE INDIAN GOVERNMENT CLEARS ATTAINMENT OF 464 RUSSIAN TANKS UNDER THE T-90 PROJECT
The Cabinet Commitee of Security has cleared the procurement of 464 Russian tanks under T-90 project in a deal worth over Rs 13,500 crore.
The tanks would be given to the Armoured Corps of the force which will be furthered used by them for deployment along the India-Pakistan border.
The new deal would increase the number of T-90s in the Army to 2,000 along with the remaining T-72 and T-55s. The acquisition also includes a Make-in-India element for integration at the Heavy Vehicles Factory in Avadi (near Chennai).

4. ‘DOST EDUCATION’, INDIA’S EDUCATION TECHNOLOGY STARTUP WON GLOBAL TECH PRIZE
India’s education technology startup ‘Dost Education’ won a $25,000 tech prize along with two other winners from Tanzania and Egypt. The Next Billion Edtech Prize 2019, run by UK-based Varkey Foundation, recognizes the most innovative technology destined to have a radical impact on education in low income and emerging world countries.

1. A JOINT MILITARY EXERCISE BETWEEN INDIA AND SINGAPORE ‘BOLD KURUKSHETRA–2019’ STARTED IN JHANSI’S BABINA CANTONMENT
A three-day joint military exercise between India and Singapore named ‘Bold Kurukshetra–2019’ started in Jhansi’s Babina Cantonment, Uttar Pradesh to strengthen cooperation against terrorism, develop defence technology and boost maritime security.

2. ISRAEL’S BENJAMIN NETANYAHU RENAMED AS FIFTH TERM PRIME MINISTER
Benjamin Netanyahu appeared to head a historic 5th term as Israel’s prime minister with close-to-complete unofficial election results giving his right-wing Likud and other nationalist and religious parties a solid majority in parliament.

3. INDIA’S GROWTH RATE TO INCREASE FROM 7.3% IN 2019 TO 7.5% IN 2020
According to the IMF, India’s growth rate is estimated to rise from 7.3% in 2019 to 7.5% in 2020 provided it receives impetus from the fiscal policy and is backed by the ongoing recovery of investment and consumption within expanded approach of monetary policy.
According to the report, India’s growth is approximated to stabilise at just under 7% over the medium term. This will be possible when structural reforms will continuously be implemented and infrastructure gridlocks would be eased.
