1. PM MODI LAYS THE FOUNDATION STONE OF A MULTI-MODAL TERMINAL ON RIVER GANGA AT SAHIBGANJ IN JHARKHAND
i. PM Narendra Modi is on an official visit to Jharkhand to lays the Foundation Stone of a Multi-Modal Terminal on River Ganga at Sahibganj district in Jharkhand. In a series of tweets, PM Modi mentioned that construction of Sahibganj multi-modal terminal at Sahibganj will create business and job opportunities in Jharkhand and will particularly benefit people in rural areas.
ii. PM Modi also laid the foundation stone of one of the longest river bridges on River Ganga that will connect Sahibganj to Katihar district of Bihar. This 5.8 km long 4-lane bridge will be built by National Highways Authority of India at an estimated cost of Rs 2,266 cr.
iii. PM Modi also inaugurate the Govindpur-Jamtara-Dumka-Sahebganj Highway, during his visit to Jharkhand.


2. JHARGRAM BLOOMS AS 22ND DISTRICT IN WEST BENGAL
i. West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee declared Jhargram as the 22nd district of Bengal and it has been bifurcated from West Midnapore.
ii. Jhargram, a part of the Jangalmahal area, Blooms as 22nd District in West Bengal.
iii. Jhargram has a population of more than 11.37 lakh. It has 4 Assembly constituencies such as Jhargram, Nayagram, Gopiballavpur and Binpur.
iv. Arjun was appointed as Jhargram district magistrate.
v. The government has decided to set up an archery academy in Jhargram to train and promote state people skills in archery.

3. RBI MONETARY POLICY REVIEW: RBI KEEPS REPO RATE UNCHANGED AT 6.25%, RAISES REVERSE REPO RATE TO 6%
i. On 6th April, Reserve Bank of India has announced 1st Bi-Monthly Monetary Policy Statement for financial year 2017-18. This is the 3rd straight meeting wherein the Policy Repo Rate has been kept unchanged.
ii. The policy rates and reserve ratios are as follows: Repo Rate -       6.25% Unchanged – since 4th October 2016, Reverse Repo Rate - 6.00% Hiked by 25 basis points. MSF Rate - 6.50% Reduced by 25 basis points. Bank Rate - 6.50% Reduced by 25 basis points.
iii. Cash Reserve Ratio -      4.00% Unchanged – since 9th February 2013. Statutory Liquidity Ratio - 20.50% effective from 1st January 2017.

4. HEMA MALINI AND S P BALASUBRAMANYAM WIN NTR NATIONAL AWARDS
i. NTR National Film Award for the year 2012 and 2013 were announced at the Film Development Corporation office in Hyderabad by Andhra Pradesh government.
ii. This award was not announced after 2011 because of disturbing situation prevailing due to bifurcation.
iii. List of Awardees are:
•   NTR National Film Award 2012:  S. P. Balasubrahmanyam(Singer), NTR National Film Award 2013: Hema Malini(Actor).
•   B.N. Reddy National Film Award for the year 2012 – Singeetham Srinivasa Rao(Director), B.N. Reddy National Film award 2013 – Kodanda Remireddy.
•   Raghupathi Venkaiah Film award – Kodi Rama Krishna(Director)
•   Nagireddy and Chakrapani National Film award – Daggupati Suresh (Producer)
•   Raghupathi Venkaiah film award – Vanisree(Actor)

5. MALVIKA SINHA TOOK CHARGE OF NEW EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF RBI
i. Malvika Sinha was Principal a Chief General Manager, Department of Cooperative Banking Supervision in the Reserve Bank of India, has now promoted as Executive Director of RBI.
ii. As Executive Director, Ms. Sinha will take over Foreign Exchange Department, Department of Government and Bank Accounts and Internal Debt Management Department.
iii. B P Kanungo was Executive Director of the Reserve Bank before being elevated to the post of Deputy Governor.

6. YOKOYAMA REPLACES M TERESA AS DIRECTOR OF INDIA RESIDENT MISSION OF ASIAN DEVELOPMENT BANK 
i. Kenichi Yokoyama appointed as the new Country Director of India Resident Mission of the Asian Development Bank.
i. Yokoyama replaces M Teresa Kho and now appointed as Deputy Director General of ADB’s East Asia Department in Manila.
ii. Yokoyama has good working experience with the government of Japan in the fields of agriculture, forestry and fisheries.
iii. Yokoyama joined ADB in 1999 and also worked for its operations in South Asia.
iv. He contributed to the expansion of relevant program in the sector in India, Bangladesh and Nepal and is considered as one of the most trusted experts in water resources management and project implementation in ADB.

7. QUATRRO’S RAMAN ROY APPOINTED AS NEW CHAIRMAN & RISHAD PREMJI AS VICE CHAIRMAN OF NASSCOM
i. Raman Roy, chairman and managing director of Quatrro, has been appointed as the new Chairman of National Association of Software and Services Companies for the year 2017-18.
ii. He will take over from C P Gurnani, MD and chief executive officer of Tech Mahindra.
iii. He is planning to shape of the Business Process Management Industry in India, Mauritius, China, Sri Lanka and the Caribbean Region through its venture Quatrro, launched to focus on innovation in the BPM industry.
iv. Along with Raman Roy, Chief Strategy Officer & Member of the Board, Wipro Limited, Rishad Premji, has been elected as the  new Vice Chairman of NASSCOM for the year 2017-18.

8. INTERNATIONAL DAY OF SPORT FOR DEVELOPMENT AND PEACE:  APRIL 7 2017
i. The United Nation proclaimed 6th April as International Day of Sport for Development and Peace. The day also coincide with the 1st modern Olympic Games in  International Day of Sport for Development and PeaceAthens in 1896.
ii. Its objective is to recognize the power of sport in promoting peace and its ability to inspire.
iii. On the occasion of the IDSDP, FIBA’s Foundation launched a campaign to raise awareness about the role of sport in social development and peace building.
