COMMITTEE TO REVIEW MARKETING
PRACTICES OF PHARMA COMPANIES
·
The
Central Government has formed a 5-member high-level committee to review
marketing practices of pharmaceutical companies in India.
·
It
will be chaired by Vinod Kumar (VK) Paul member
(health), NITI (National Institution for Transforming India) Aayog.
·
It will also review various other issues
pertaining to the Uniform Code of Pharmaceutical Marketing Practices (UCPMP),
and recommend legally enforceable measures against firms indulging in
malpractices.
·
The Indian Medical Council Regulations,
2002, details professional misconduct by medical practitioners , including
accepting gifts from drug companies and commissions from laboratories.

INDIA WON UN AWARDS FOR ‘INDIA HYPERTENSION CONTROL
INITIATIVE (IHCI)’
·
India
won a ‘2022 United Nations (UN) Interagency Task Force,
and WHO Special Programme on Primary Health Care Award’ for its
‘India Hypertension Control Initiative (IHCI)’, a Large-scale hypertension
intervention under the National Health Mission (NHM) at the UN General Assembly.
·
IHCI is a collaborative initiative of the
Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR),
state governments and the World Health Organization(WHO)-India.
·
The Indian Government has adopted the “25
by 25” goal to reduce premature mortality due to Non-Communicable
Diseases (NCDs) by 25% by 2025.
3.
INDIAN COAST GUARD INDUCTS ICGS SAMARTH IN ITS FLEET
·
The
Indian Coast Guard (ICG) has inducted ‘Samarth’ to
strengthen the coastal security mechanism.
·
The
ship has been based at Kochi, Kerala from Goa under the operational command of
Coast Guard District Headquarters-4 (Kerala &Mahe), Kochi.
·
Integrated
Coast Guard Ship (ICGS) Samarth is a 105 metre-long
ship that is designed with a maximum speed of 23 knots (approximately 43 Kmph).
·
Recently,
a new capital ship Saksham joined the Coast Guard fleet in Kerala.
·
Admiral R Hari Kumar, Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS) is the chief guest
of the launching ceremony.
4.
INDIA WILL HOST THE MAIDEN MOTO GP RACE IN 2023
·
India
will be hosting a maiden MotoGP (Grand
Prix motorcycle racing) World Championships race, named the ‘Grand Prix of
Bharat’ at the Buddh International Circuit in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh in
the following year (2023).
·
Riders from 19 countries will participate
in the event.

WORLD RHINO DAY 2022 – SEPTEMBER 22
·
World
Rhino Day is annually observed across the globe on September 22 to spread
awareness about the different types of Rhinos and the existential risks they
face.
·
The theme of World Rhino Day 2022 is Five
Rhino Species Forever.
·
The
5 species of Rhino are,2 African rhino species – black and white rhinos.
·
3 Asian rhino species – Greater
One-Horned, Sumatran and Javan rhinos.
·
According to the list of the International
Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), critically endangered species are
Javan, Sumatran and Black rhinos; Near Threatened is white rhinos; Vulnerable
is Greater One-Horned.

WORLD CAR-FREE DAY 2022- SEPTEMBER 22
·
The
United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), World
Car-Free Day is annually observed across the globe on September 22 to
encourage people to give up their cars for a day and adopt using non-motorized
transport like riding a bicycle or walking.
·
The
World Health Organization reported that environmental air pollution alone
caused roughly 4.2 million deaths in 2016.

INDIA, PAKISTAN, SRI LANKA, BANGLADESH AND NEPAL FORMED APOA
·
The 25th Globoil Summit 2022,
organized by Tefla’s, was held in Agra, Uttar Pradesh (UP) which saw the
participation of 1,500 attendees from 50 countries.
·
During
the summit, the apex edible oil industry associations from five major
palm oil importing countries from Asia viz. India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka,
Bangladesh and Nepal have formed an Asian
Palm Oil Alliance (APOA).
·
APOA
secretariat will be initially managed by The Solvent Extractors’ Association
(SEA) of India.
·
Chairman– Atul Chaturvedi, Director of Adani Wilmar Ltd and
the President of SEA, was elected as the first Chairman of the APOA
8.
REC LTD BECOMES 12TH COMPANY TO GET MAHARATNA CPSE STATUS
·
The
Government of India (GoI) accorded the status of Maharatna Central
Public Sector Enterprise (CPSE) to REC
Limited (formerly Rural Electrification Corporation Limited), a
Non-Banking Financial Company (NBFC), specialised in financing for energy
sectors.
·
REC
Limited was a Navratna company under the administrative control of the Ministry
of Power.
·
REC
Limited can now make investments up to Rs 5,000 crore, or 15% of its web price,
in a single mission after its Maharatna standing.
·
A
company must be listed on an Indian inventory alternate and have an average
annual turnover of over Rs25,000 crore throughout the earlier three years to be
categorised as a Maharatna standing.
·
It
must also have a mean annual web price throughout the earlier three years of
greater than Rs 15,000 crore and a mean web revenue of over Rs 5,000 crore
throughout the identical interval.
·
India
has 13 Navratna and 74 Miniratna CPSEs.
9.
THE OVAL, LORD’S WILL HOST NEXT TWO ICC WORLD TEST
CHAMPIONSHIP FINALS IN 2023 & 2025
·
The
International Cricket Council (ICC) announced that the ICC World Test
Championship (WTC) Final will be hosted by The Oval, London, England in
June 2023 and the 2025 edition of WTC Final will be played at Lord’s, London.
·
The Lord’s earlier hosted several
high profile ICC matches, including the2019 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup final.
