1. QS WORLD UNIVERSITY RANKINGS 2026
·
London based global higher education
analytics firm Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) released the latest edition of ‘QS World
University Rankings 2026’.
·
Indian
Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT-D) has been
ranked 1st among Indian
universities featured on the list.
·
Massachusetts
Institute of Technology (MIT),USA has
topped the list globally for the 14th time .
·
It is followed by Imperial College London based in London and USA based Stanford University ranked at 2nd and 3rd spot
on the list.
·
This year, a total of 54 universities, including 12 IITs from India
(up from 46 universities in 2025), are featured on the list, thereby,
making India the 4th most represented country, only after the USA (192), UK (90) and
Mainland China (72).
·
3 IITs i.e. IIT-Delhi; IIT-Bombay
(IIT-B) and IIT-Madras (IIT-M) made
into the list of world’s top 200
universities.
2. TOP FDI DESTINATIONS- UNCTAD
·
Rebeca Grynspan, Secretary-General of
the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), officially
launched the World Investment Report 2025 titled “International Investment
in the Digital Economy“ in Geneva, Switzerland.
·
As per the report, India’s Foreign
Direct Investment (FDI) inflows declined by 1.9%
in 2024, dropping from
USD 28.1 billion in 2023 to USD 27.6 billion.
·
The Global
FDI flows were said to be 4% higher, totaling USD 1.5 trillion.
·
But this number was boosted by unstable
investments passing through certain countries.
·
Without counting those, global FDI
actually dropped by 11%, falling for the second year in a row.
·
India
ranking in FDI outflows rose to 18th in
2024, up from 23rd the previous year.
·
India emerged as the leading recipient of
FDI within the South Asian region.
·
India
secured the fourth position globally with 1,080 green field projects
announced in 2024.
·
India
also ranked among the top five countries for international project finance, recording 97 deals during the
year.
3. EXERCISE ‘KHAAN QUEST’
·
·
The exercise brought together military
contingents from 24 countries .
·
The Exercise Khaan Quest began as a bilateral exercise between the
United States of America (USA) and the
Mongolian Armed Forces in 2003.
·
In 2006, the
Exercise Khaan Quest evolved into a multinational military exercise.
·

4. INDIA-FRANCE JOINT MILITARY
‘EX-SHAKTI’
·
The 8th edition of India-France joint
military “Exercise SHAKTI” commenced,
at Camp Larzac, La Cavalerie in France.
·
Other Military Exercises between India & France:Exercise
GARUDA – Between the Indian Air Forces and
the French Air and Space Force and Exercise VARUNA –
Between the Indian Navy and the French Navy.
5. IN
INDUCTS FIRST INDIGENOUS ANTI-SUBMARINE WARSHIP
‘INS ARNALA’
·
Indian Navy (IN) inducted
Indian Navy Ship (INS) Arnala, India’s first
indigenously designed and built Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water
Craft (ASW-SWC) warship, at the Naval Dockyard in
Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh (AP).
·
INS Arnala, the first in the series of 16
ASW-SWCs, was built by Kolkata (West Bengal) based Garden Reach Shipbuilders
and Engineers Limited(GRSE).
·
INS Arnala
is a 77-meter(m)-long warship, with a gross tonnage of
over 1490 tonnes(t).
·
It is the largest Indian-Naval warship to be propelled by
a Diesel Engine-Waterjet combination..
6. ICC WORLD TEST CHAMPIONSHIP
·
South Africa defeated defending
champions Australia by 5 wickets in the 2023–25 International
Cricket Council (ICC) World Test Championship (WTC)
final at Lord’s Cricket Ground, London, England.
·
This victory ended South
Africa’s 27-year ICC trophy drought, marking their first senior men’s ICC
title since the 1998 ICC Knockout Trophy.
·
Aiden Markram received
the Man of the Match award for his match-winning
century, becoming the first South African to score a hundred in an ICC WTC
final.
·
The total prize pool of USD
5.76 million (Rs. 49.24 crore) was announced.
7. CANADIAN GRAND PRIX 2025
·
George Russell, representing
Germany-based Mercedes, clinched his
1st Formula One (F1) Grand Prix (GP) victory of the 2025 season by winning
the 63rd edition of the Canadian Grand
Prix at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal,
Canada.
·
With this Victory, George Russell stands
at 4th place with 136 points
(pts) in the Drivers’ Championship Standings 2025.
·
Max Verstappen, secured second place and
Andrea Kimi Antonelli, claimed third place.
8. ISSF WORLD CUP MUNICH 2025
·
The International Shooting Sport
Federation (ISSF) organized the Munich leg of the ISSF Rifle/Pistol
and Shotgun (RPSH) World Cup 2025 in
Munich, Germany, featuring the participation of 334
athletes representing 49 countries.
·
India secured the third
position in the overall medal tally with 4 medals (2 Gold and 2 Bronze), finishing behind China (7 medals) and Norway (4
medals).
·
Suruchi Singh Inder won gold in Women’s 10 meter (m) Air
Pistol, defeating Camille Jedrzejewski (France).
·
Arya Borse
and Arjun Babuta clinched gold in the 10m Air Rifle Mixed Team, defeating China’s Olympic champions Wang
Zifei and Sheng Lihao.
9. FIDE WORLD RAPID TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP
2025
·
Team MGD1, the flagship team of
Pune based chess management and investment firm MGD1, created history by
becoming the first Indian-sponsored team to win
the Rapid section of the 2025
FIDE (International Chess Federation) World Rapid
& Blitz Team Championship held in London.
·
Led by Grandmaster (GM) Arjun Erigaisi, Team MGD1 triumphed over 55 international teams in a
12-round Swiss format, securing the gold medal with 21 match points from 10
wins, 1 draw, and 1 loss.
·
Hexamind
Chess Team, led by Grandmaster (GM)
Levon Aronian, secured the silver
medal with a total of 20 match points
·
Freedom,
featuring GM Viswanathan Anand, claimed the bronze medal by finishing with 17 match
points.
·
In the Blitz section, Germany based WR
Chess, led by GM Jan Gustafsson, successfully
defended their title by defeating KazChess, captained by GM Alexander
Grischuk, in the final, securing the gold medal, while KazChess and Hexamind settled for silver and bronze, respectively.

10. WORLD BLOOD DONOR DAY 2025 – JUNE 14
·
The
theme of WBDD 2025, “Give blood, give hope:
together we save lives,” emphasizes the collective strength and
life-saving impact of voluntary blood donations.
·
Italy hosts the 2025
global events through its Rome (Italy)-based National Blood Centre
(Centro Nazionale Sangue, CNS).
·
WBDD was established in 2004 by WHO to
commemorate the birth anniversary of Karl Landsteiner (1868–1943),
the Austrian-American biologist and physician who discovered the ABO blood
group system in 1901.
11. INTERNATIONAL DAY AGAINST UNILATERAL
COERCIVE MEASURES - 4 DEC
·
The United Nations General Assembly (UNGA)
proclaiming 4 December of each year as the International
Day Against Unilateral Coercive Measures, starting from 2025.
·
The day raises global awareness about the adverse effects of
unilateral economic, financial, or trade restrictions enforced outside the
framework of international law and the UN Charter.
·
“Coercive” means using force or threats to
make someone do something against their will.
12. WORLD REFUGEE DAY 2025 – JUNE 20
·
The annual observance is led by the Office
of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR),
headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, in collaboration with key partners such
as the World Health Organization (WHO) and various other
international organisations.
·
The
theme for World Refugee Day 2025 is “Solidarity
with Refugees”, emphasizing the need for united action to support
displaced individuals.
13. MEMOIR: A DIFFERENT KIND OF POWER
·
A Memoir, “A Different Kind
of Power”, written by Jacinda Kate
Laurell Ardern, former
New Zealand Prime Minister (PM) has
been released.
·
Jacinda Ardern served as the 40th PM
of New Zealand from 2017 to 2023.
·
At the age of 37, she became the youngest
PM in over 150 years.
