1.       CHAIRPERSON OF EAC-PM

·         The Government of India (GoI) appointed economist Prof S Mahendra Dev as the Chairperson of the Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister (EAC-PM) for a period of two years. 

·         The newly appointed part-time members of the EAC-PM include SoumyaKanti Ghosh, K V Raju, ChetanGhate, PamiDua, Pulak Ghosh, and GouravVallabh.

·         The EAC-PM is an independent, non-constitutional, and non-statutory advisory body constituted to provide expert advice on economic and related matters directly to the Prime Minister(PM) of India.

·         The Council is headed by a Chairperson alongside full-time and part-time members.

 


2.       PART-TIME MEMBER OF THE 16TH FC

·         T. Rabi Sankar, currently serving as Deputy Governor of Reserve Bank of India (RBI), has been appointed as a part-time member of the 16th Finance Commission(FC) (XVIFC). 

·         In 2023, the Government of India (GoI) constituted the 16th FC under the chairmanship of Arvind Panagariya, former vice-chairman of NITI Aayog.

·         The commission is expected to submit its recommendations by October 31, 2025, which will apply for a 5 year period beginning from April 01, 2026.

 

3.       FORMER GUJARAT CM VIJAY RUPANI DIED IN PLANE CRASH

·         Former Chief Minister of Gujarat, Vijay Ramniklalbhai Rupani died in Air India flight ‘AI171’ operated by a Boeing 787 Dreamliner, which crashed into a residential area in Meghani Nagar after taking off  from the Ahmedabad Airport officially SardarVallabhbhai Patel International Airport, Gujarat .

·         He is the 2nd Gujarat CM (serving/former) to die in an Air Plane crash, following Balwantrai Gopalji Mehta (2nd CM of Gujarat of independent India) who was killed in 1965 when his plane was shot down by a Pakistani jet during the Indo-Pak war.

 

4.       AYUSH NIVESH SAARTHI PORTAL TO BOOST TRADITIONAL MEDICINE INVESTMENT

·         The portal is an investor-centric digital platform that aims to facilitate investments in India’s traditional medicine sector by providing a unified interface that integrates policy frameworks, incentive structures, investment-ready projects, and real-time facilitation tools.

·         It is a joint initiative of the Ministry of Ayush, and the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), under MoC & I.

·         It leverages 100% Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) permitted via the automatic route.

 

5.       UMEED PORTAL FOR DIGITAL WAQF PROPERTY MANAGEMENT

·         Union Minister Kiren Rijiju, Ministry of Minority Affairs (MoMA), launched the ‘Unified Waqf Management, Empowerment, Efficiency and Development (UMEED) portal’, a centralized digital platform designed for real-time uploading, verification, and monitoring of Waqf properties across India, in New Delhi.

·         The portal, named after the UMEED Act of 1995, aims to simplify Waqf property management by enabling real-time data updates and giving the public access to verified information.

·         Waqf refers to a permanent dedication of movable or immovable property by a Muslim for religious, pious, or charitable purposes recognized under Islamic law.

·         Digital Inventory: Geo-tagging of all Waqf properties with 17-digit unique identification (ID) number.

·         Grievance Redressal: Online system for efficient complaint resolution.

·         State Waqf Boards must register properties within six months (by 6 December 2025), with a possible one-to-two-month extension.

·         Unregistered or undocumented properties are referred to the Waqf Tribunal.

·         Properties under women’s ownership are ineligible for waqf declaration.

 

6.       BENGALURU BECOMES INDIA’S ‘LEOPARD CAPITAL’

·         Bengaluru (Karnataka) was declared the India’s ‘Leopard Capital’ after a year-long camera-trap survey (2024-2025) It had the highest number of free-ranging wild leopards among metropolitan cities, surpassing Mumbai (Maharashtra).

·         The study estimated 80–85 leopards across the forests and scrublands surrounding Bengaluru, surpassing Mumbai’s 54 leopards documented within Sanjay Gandhi National Park, Mumbai, Maharashtra.

 

7.       GOA’S FENI SECURED GI TAG

·         Goa’s Ozzo Feni has secured Geographical Indication (GI) tag from Chennai (TN)-based Geographical Indication Registry (GIR).

·         Ozzo Feni which is produced by Cazcar Distillery in Nanora village near Panaji, Goa, has now become the 1st ever feni to receive a GI tag in India.

 

8.       BHARATIYA BHASHA ANUBHAG PORTAL

·         Bharatiya Bhasha Anubhag (BBA) or Indian Languages Section’ portal  is launched to reduce administrative dependence on foreign languages, especially English.

·         The BBA collaborates with Pune based Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY).

·         With the launch of BBA, officials across ministries can now use their mother tongue for file work, communication.

 

9.       PUNJAB LAUNCHES ‘FAST TRACK PUNJAB PORTAL’ 

·         Bhagwant Singh Mann, Chief Minister (CM) of Punjab, launched the ‘FastTrack Punjab Portal’ in Mohali, Punjab. 

·         This digital platform guarantees all business approvals within 45 working days for new ventures, expansions, and industrial projects in Punjab.

·         The portal enables a “deemed approval system”, under which if the designated authority fails to act within the stipulated timeline, the portal will automatically issue an approval the next day with legal validity.

·         The earlier clearance timeline ranged between 60 to 120 days, but under the new system, the application will be reviewed online within 7 days.

·         Any deficiencies will be communicated, allowing the applicant to correct them and still receive final approvals within the remaining 38 days.

·         The portal integrates 12 transformative measures under the Punjab Udyog Kranti, India’s first comprehensive industrial reform initiative.

 

10.    GLOBAL PLATFORM FOR DISASTER RISK REDUCTION IN SWITZERLAND

·         The Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction (GPDRR) 2025 was organized by the United Nations (UN) Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR)  in Geneva, Switzerland.

·         The theme of 8th session of GPDRR (2025) is “Every Day Counts: Act for Resilience Today,” 

·         Mrutyunjay Mohapatra, popularly known as “The Cyclone Man of India”, Director General of India Meteorological Department (IMD), was awarded the United Nations (UNSasakawa Award 2025 for Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) in individual category.
