ICDRI 2025
·
PM Narendra Modi addressed
the International Conference on Disaster
Resilient Infrastructure (ICDRI 2025) which was held in
Nice, France, through video
conferencing.
·
CDRI 2025 marked the first time the conference was held in Europe, with CDRI serving as
a co-chair.
·
The ICDRI 2025 was held on the theme “Shaping a Resilient
Future for Coastal Regions,” focusing on strengthening infrastructure
to withstand coastal and climate-related challenges.
·
The 7th edition of ICDRI was
organised by New Delhi) based Coalition
for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (CDRI) with the support of the
Government of France.

IEA’S WORLD ENERGY INVESTMENT
REPORT 2025
·
Paris based International Energy Agency (IEA) released
the 10th edition of its ‘World Energy Investment
Report’.
·
The report highlighted that China is
expected to account for over 25% (1/4th) of global energy
investment in 2025.
·
The report further showed that over the last
10 years, the total share of China in global energy investment has increased
from 25% to approximately 33%.
·
As per the report, global investment on
energy is projected to reach an unprecedented USD 3.3 trillion in
2025.
·
India
has significantly increased its investment in RE sector, from USD 13
billion (in 2015) to USD 37 billion (in 2025).
·
During the same time period, India’s fossil
fuel investments also increased from USD 41 billion to USD 49 billion.

11TH BRICS COMMUNICATIONS MINISTERS’ MEETING
·
11th BRICS (Brazil,
Russia, India, China and South Africa) Communications Ministers’ Meeting,
held in Brasilia, Brazil.
·
Theme “Universal and Meaningful
Connectivity, Space Sustainability, Environmental Sustainability, and the
Digital Ecosystem.”

WORLD BANK - THRESHOLD POVERTY
LINE RAISES TO USD 3 PER DAY
·
World Bank has raised the threshold poverty line
globally to USD 3 per day (daily consumption of less
than USD 3) from the earlier USD 2.15 per day (calculated
using 2017 prices) in its Global Poverty Update.
·
The number of people in India, living in
extreme poverty declined sharply from 27.1% to 5.3%.
·
During
the period from 2011-12 to 2022-23, the number of people living in extreme
poverty in India dipped from 344.47 million to 75.24 million,
which means that approximately 269 million people came out of poverty during
this period.
·
Five
states such as Uttar Pradesh (UP), Maharashtra, Bihar, West Bengal (WB) and
Madhya Pradesh (MP), which previously had 65% of India’s extreme poor in
2011-12, were responsible for two-thirds of the total reduction in extreme
poverty by 2022-23.

GLOBAL DATA CENTRE MARKET
COMPARISON 2025

In ‘2025 Global
Data Center Market Comparison report’. According to the report, Mumbai ranked 6th globally
with 335 Megawatts (MW) of data centre capacity under construction as of
end-2024.
·
Virginia (USA) ranks 1st globally with 1,834 MW of data centre capacity under
construction, followed by Atlanta (USA) with 1,078
MW, and Columbus (USA) with 546 MW.
·
Pune (Maharashtra) and Bengaluru (Karnataka)
ranks 4th and 5th respectively among APAC’s emerging data centre markets.

UNFPA’S 2025 SOWP REPORT
·
New York
based United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) released
its State of World Population (SOWP) Report
2025 titled “The Real Fertility Crisis : The pursuit of reproductive
agency in a changing world”.
·
The
report finds that 1 in 5 people globally expect not to have the number of children that they
desire due to the prohibitive cost
of parenthood, job insecurity, housing, and other concerns.
·
The 2025
SOWP report, based on a YouGov survey in 14 countries including
India, Brazil, Morocco, South Africa, Indonesia, Mexico, Nigeria, Italy,
Thailand, Hungary, United States of Anerica(USA), Sweden, Republic of Korea and
Germany.
·
Though India
may have reached replacement-level fertility of 2.0, many
people still face significant barriers to making free and informed
decisions about their reproductive lives.

WEF’S GLOBAL GENDER GAP
REPORT 2025
·
Cologny
(Switzerland) based World Economic Forum (WEF) released 19th edition
of the annual report titled “Global Gender Gap Report”.
·
India ranked 131st out of 148 countries, falling two positions from the previous
year with a score of 0.644.
·
Iceland has topped the rankings for the 16th
time with a score of 0.926, followed by Finland(0.879), Norway(0.863), United
Kingdom (UK)(0.838) and New Zealand(0.827).
·
The 2025
Index, benchmarks gender parity across 148 economies.
·
Globally,
the gender gap has narrowed to 68.8%, marking the
quickest improvement since the pandemic.

ILO’S DATA: INDIA’S SOCIAL
SECURITY COVERAGE
·
India’s
social security coverage has surged from 19% (in 2015) to 64.3%
(in 2025), which marks an increase
of 45 basis points (bps) over the last 10 years.
·
The data
further revealed that India now ranks at 2nd position
globally in terms of beneficiary count, with more than 94 crore people, are now
covered under at least one social protection benefit.
·
The 113th session of the ILC of ILO held in
Geneva, Switzerland.
·
India is
also the world’s 1st country to update its 2025
social protection coverage data in the ILOSTAT database

IALA COUNCIL SESSION
·
India, as Vice President of France based International Organization for Marine Aids
to Navigation (IALA), actively participated in
the 2nd session of the IALA council, held in Nice, France.
·
The IALA
council is the key decision-making body
of the intergovernmental organization responsible for marine aids to navigation.
·
In
February 2025, during its session held in Singapore, Brazil was elected as the President and India as the Vice President of the IALA.
·
The IALA was originally established in 1957 as a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO)
under the name International Association of Marine Aids to Navigation and
Lighthouse Authorities (IALA).
·
In August
2024, following the ratification or accession of its founding Convention by 30 member states, IALA officially
transitioned into an intergovernmental organisation (IGO).
·
India has
been a longstanding and committed member of IALA since its inception in 1957
and a Council member since 1980 through the DGLL.

ICC HALL OF FAME
·
·
MS Dhoni
was among 7 international cricketers (5
men and 2 women) who joined the ICC Hall of Fame such as: Graeme Smith and Hashim Amla (South Africa), Matthew Hayden (Australia), Daniel
Vettori (New Zealand) and Sana Mir
(Pakistan) and Sarah Taylor
(England).
·
With
this, the total number of ICC Hall
of Fame inductees reaches to 122.
·
Former
Pakistan’s women cricket team captain, Sana Mir became
the 1st woman from Pakistan to be included in the ICC Hall of Fame.
