JINDAL STAINLESS STEEL RANKS AMONG TOP 5% GLOBALLY
·
Jindal Stainless Limited (JSL) announced
that it had entered the top 5% of global steel companies in
the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) Corporate
Sustainability Assessment (CSA) for Financial
Year 2024-25 (FY25).
·
JSL
also secured 4th place in the global steel sector
and 1st position in the stainless-steel
segment, achieving an Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) score of 78.
2.
DAY OF REMEMBRANCE FOR ALL VICTIMS OF CHEMICAL WARFARE
2025 – NOVEMBER 30
·
The United Nations
(UN) annually observe the Day of Remembrance for
All Victims of Chemical Warfare on November 30 to
honor victims and highlight Organisation
for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW’s) commitment to eliminating
chemical weapons and promoting global peace and security.
·
During its 10th
Session in November 2005 in The Hague, Netherlands, the Conference of the
States Parties to the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC) resolved to observe a
Day of Remembrance for all victims of chemical warfare every year on 29
April.
·
At its 20th Session in
2015, the Conference of the States Parties to the CWC changed the Day of Remembrance for all victims of chemical warfare
to 30 November.
·
April
29 was designated as the International Day for
the Foundation of the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW Day).
·
Adopted 1993; effective
April 29, 1997; 193 States Parties; all declared stockpiles (72,304+ MT) destroyed by
2023.
·
The 30th Session of
the Conference of the States Parties (CSP) was held in The Hague, chaired
by H.E. Mr. AgustÃnVásquez Gómez of El Salvador.

OPCW-The Hague Award 2025: Major General Ichiro
Akiyama, Ambassador Kenneth Ward, and Rear Admiral TorbenMikkelsen were
honoured for their contributions to disarmament and non-proliferation.

WORLD AIDS DAY 2025 – DECEMBER 1
·
The United Nations (UN’s) World Acquired
Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) Day is annually
observed across the globe on 1st December to raise
awareness about Human Immunodeficiency Viruses (HIV)/ AIDS and to encourage
solidarity in the fight against the disease.
·
2025 Theme: “Overcoming
disruption, transforming the AIDS response”.
·
Symbol: The red ribbon represents solidarity with
people living with HIV, honors those lost to AIDS, and was chosen for its
association with blood and passion, according to the Red Ribbon Project
founders.
·
In August 1987, James W. Bunn and
Thomas Netter of World Health Organization (WHO)’s Global Programme on AIDS
proposed the concept of World AIDS Day in Geneva, Switzerland.
·
The first World AIDS Day was observed on December
1st, 1988, led by the WHO.
·
Since 1992, India’s
National AIDS Control Organization (NACO) under the Ministry of Health
& Family Welfare (MoFHW) has commemorated World AIDS Day annually on
December 1st.
·
Joint United Nations Programme on HIV and AIDS (UNAIDS) was officially established
in 1994 through a UN resolution and became operational in 1996.

RAISING DAY OF THE BORDER SECURITY FORCE 2025-
DECEMBER 01
·
The Border Security Force (BSF) observes
its Raising Day every year on 1st December,
commemorating its establishment as India’s primary border guarding force
on 1st December 1965.
·
BSF was established in
1965 with 25 battalions and played a crucial role during the 1971 Indo-Pakistan War.
·
The BSF, a
paramilitary force known as the First Line of Defence of
Indian Territories, is one of the seven
Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) functioning under the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).
·
BSF is deployed along the Indo-Pakistan and Indo-Bangladesh international borders, the Line of Control (LoC) alongside the Indian Army(IA), and in
Anti-Naxal Operations zones.
·
BSF is mandated to protect India’s borders and is empowered to arrest, search, and seize under
multiple laws, including the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) of
1973, Passports Act 1967, Passport (Entry into India) Act 1920, and Narcotic
Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS), 1985.
·
The BSF, the world’s
largest border security force with a sanctioned strength of over 2.7 lakh
personnel, operated with 193 battalions guarding 6,386.36 kilometer(km) of
international borders with Pakistan and Bangladesh.

NATIONAL POLLUTION CONTROL DAY 2025- DECEMBER 02
·
National Pollution Control Day is observed every year in
India on 2 December to honour the victims of the 1984
Bhopal Gas Tragedy and to raise awareness about pollution
control, environmental protection, and industrial safety.
·
2 December 2025 marks
the 41st anniversary of the Bhopal Gas Tragedy.
·
2025 Theme: “Sustainable Living for a Greener
Future”.
·
The Bhopal Gas Tragedy, India’s first major
industrial disaster, occurred on the night of 2–3 December 1984 when nearly 45 tons of Methyl Isocyanate (MIC)
leaked from the Union Carbide India
Limited (UCIL) pesticide plant in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh(MP).
·
The disaster caused
about 25,000 deaths.
·
UCIL was the Indian subsidiary of the
Union Carbide Corporation (UCC), a U.S.A -based chemical
company.

WORLD COMPUTER LITERACY DAY 2025 – DECEMBER 2
·
World Computer Literacy Day(WCLD) is
observed every year across the world on 2nd December to
promote basic computer and digital skills, especially among women and children.
·
WCLD was launched on
2nd December 2001 to mark the 20th anniversary of the National Institute
of Information Technology (NIIT) and to help bridge
the global digital divide.
·
National Digital Literacy Mission (NDLM / Digital
SakshartaAbhiyan – DISHA): Launched by the Ministry of
Electronics and Information Technology(MeitY) in 2014.
·
It Aimed to make one
person per eligible household digitally literate about 52.5 lakh people
including Anganwadi, ASHA workers, ration dealers, by teaching basic computer
and internet skills.
·
Pradhan MantriGramin Digital SakshartaAbhiyan (PMGDISHA) Launched in 2017 by the
MeitY to expand digital literacy across
rural India.
·
It aims to ensure that every rural household has at least one digitally literate member.
·
Internet Saathi Launched in July 2015 by Google India
in partnership with Tata Trusts.
·
The programme trains women
in rural villages (called “Saathis”) who then teach other women in their
community how to use the Internet, smartphones, and digital tools.

INTERNATIONAL DAY FOR THE ABOLITION OF SLAVERY 2025 –
DECEMBER 2
·
The United Nations (UN’s) International Day for
the Abolition of Slavery was annually observed across the globe
on 2nd December to raise awareness about ending
modern slavery, including human trafficking, sexual exploitation, child labour,
forced marriage, and child recruitment in conflicts.
·
The UNGA established the observance in 1986 to
commemorate the 1949 adoption of the UN Convention for the Suppression of the
Traffic in Persons and the Exploitation of the Prostitution of Others under
Resolution 317 (IV).
·
ILO Protocol on Forced Labour: The ILO adopted a legally
binding Protocol to reinforce worldwide action against forced labour. This
Protocol, entered into force in November 2016.
8.
INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES 2025 –
DECEMBER 03
·
The United Nations (UN’s) International Day
of Persons with Disabilities (IDPwD) is observed across the
globe on 3rd December to raise awareness, promote
understanding, and support the rights, dignity, and well-being of persons with
disabilities (PwDs) across all spheres of society.
·
2025 Theme: “Fostering
disability-inclusive societies for advancing social progress”.
·
The International Day of
Disabled Persons was first observed on
3rd December 1992.

INDIAN NAVY DAY 2025 – DECEMBER 4
·
Indian Navy Day is celebrated every year
on December 4th throughout India to honor the
contributions and accomplishments of the Indian Navy (IN) in safeguarding the
country.
·
2025 Theme: “Combat
Ready, Cohesive, Credible, and Aatmanirbhar Force”.
·
On May 1, 1830, the East India Company came under British
control, was granted combatant status, and became the Indian Navy, later
renamed “Her Majesty’s Indian Navy” in 1858.
·
Navy Day was initially celebrated
on October 21, 1944.
·
Admiral Dinesh Kumar Tripathi, CNS released the updated Indian Maritime Doctrine.
·
The doctrine formally
defines the “no-war, no-peace”
operational spectrum, addresses grey-zone challenges.
10. INTERNATIONAL DAY OF BANKS
2025 – DECEMBER 4
·
The United Nations (UN)’s International Day of
Banks is observed every year across the globe on December
4 worldwide to acknowledge the crucial role of banking systems in
UN Member States in enhancing living standards and supporting development.
·
2025 Theme: “Banks Powering a Livable Planet”.
·
The inaugural International Day of Banks was celebrated
on 4 December 2020.
·
Between 1969 and 1991, the Government of India(GoI)
nationalisedaround 20 major private
banks in two phases (1969 and 1980) and introduced priority sector lending in
1972.
11. INTERNATIONAL CHEETAH DAY 2025
– DECEMBER 4
·
The International Cheetah Day is
observed every year on December 4 to raise global
awareness about the plight of cheetahs, the fastest land animals and one of the
most endangered big cats on the planet.
·
Cheetahs, with the scientific name, Acinonyxjubatus, are a
capable of reaching speeds up to 112 kilometers per hour (km/h).
·
The day commemorates
Khayam, a cheetah that was hand-reared by Dr. Laurie
Marker, an American conservation biologist and founder of the Cheetah Conservation Fund (CCF) in Namibia.
·
First Celebration: International Cheetah Day was
first observed on December 4, 2010.
·
Cheetahs have a severely fragmented wild population of about
7,100, while India’s current population
is 32, including 21 born in the country.
12. WORLD SOIL DAY 2025 –
DECEMBER 5
·
The United Nations (UN’s) World
Soil Day (WSD) is observed annually across the globe on 5th
December to raise awareness about the vital role of healthy soil
and to encourage the sustainable management of soil resources.
·
2025 Theme: “Healthy
Soils for Healthy Cities”.
·
The first WSD was observed on 5 December 2014.
