WORLD TSUNAMI AWARENESS DAY OBSERVED ON 5 NOVEMBER
i. The First
World Tsunami Awareness Day is being observed today across the world on 5
november.
ii. The
theme for day is Effective Education and Evacuation Drills.
iii. The
observance of the day will help to spread awareness among people across the
world in matters related to the dangers of the tsunami.
2. PRESIDENT
APPROVES PAYMENT OF 2% DA FROM JULY 1
i. President
Pranab Mukherjee approved the 2% hike in Dearness Allowance to central
government employees.
ii. DA is
provided to employees and pensioners to minimise the impact of price rise on
their earnings. Earlier this year, DA was hiked 6% to 125% of the basic pay.
3. PM TO
INAUGURATE 1ST INTL AGRO-BIODIVERSITY CONGRESS
i. Prime
Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the first ever International Agro-biodiversity
Congress in New Delhi .
ii. The
event will initiate and encourage a dialogue among stakeholders, including
farmers, to better understand everyone role in agro-biodiversity management and
the conservation of genetic resources.
4. CII
LAUNCHES UNIQUE PLATFORM ‘STARTUP MENTORSHIP CIRCLE'
i. Confederation
of Indian Industry has launched a unique platform called ‘Startup Mentorship
Circle’ to help in connecting start-ups with the global marketplace.
ii. 'Startup
Mentorship Circle’ is a strong eco-system for nurturing innovation and startups
to drive sustainable economic growth and generate large scale employment
opportunities.
5. INDIAN
WOMEN'S HOCKEY TEAM LIFT ASIAN CHAMPIONS TROPHY 2016
i.Indian
Women's hockey team have lifted the Asian Champions Trophy 2016 in Singapore.
ii. This is
for the first time that Indian eves won the Asian Champions Trophy competition.
