1. TEXTILE MINISTRY INAUGURATES MEGHALAYA’S FIRST EVER APPAREL AND GARMENT CENTRE AT AMPATI
i. Meghalaya’s 1st ever Apparel and Garment Making Centre was inaugurated jointly by CM of Meghalaya Dr. Mukul Sangma and Union Textiles Minister Smriti Zubin Irani at Ampati in South West Garo Hills.
ii. The centre would capacitate to create job opportunity for both women and men of the region and make them economically empowered.
iii. The facility has been set up in an area of 45,000 sq ft at an approximate cost of Rs 14.26 cr. It has been set up under North East Region Textiles Promotion Scheme.
iv. Union Ministry of Textiles is working to implement projects worth Rs 70 cr in the Sericulture & Weaving sector for Meghalaya alone to boost investment in the region as well as generate employment prospects.

2. MINISTRY OF DEFENCE TO SET UP RS 1500 CR DEFENCE UNIT IN MADHYA PRADESH
i. The Union Minister for Panchayati Raj and Rural Development, Narendra Singh Tomar announced that the Ministry of Defence is set to open its Defence Unit in Morena district of Madhya Pradesh.
ii. The unit would enable in Kailaras and Sabalgarh tehsil areas and span over 969.735 hectare of land at a cost of Rs. 1500 crore.
iii. The CM of Madhya Pradesh, Shivraj Singh Chouhan has already allotted 334.584 hectare revenue land for the purpose free of cost.

3. E-PAATHSALA LAUNCHES UNIQUE TECHNOLOGY-BACKED SERVICES FOR EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS IN INDIA
i. Bangalore based Start-up firm E-paathsala has launched an integrated accreditation and ERP technology solution for the universities and colleges to enable them better manage their multiple accreditation standards in an easy, fast and efficient manner and bridge the gap identified for specific accreditations.
ii. Every college and University has multiple accreditations for standards such as National Assessment and Accreditation Council, National Board of Accreditation among others.
iii. E-paathsala would provide a software and consultancy solutions that would help the institutions to improve their management system with emphasis on improving accreditation standards.
iv. The technology would provide services like IQAC work flow,  Accreditation Management, PO-CO attainment for students, Admission Management, Accounting, SWOT analysis, and Fees Management, Learning Management System, Student Management, Library Management, Transport Management, Hostel and Class Management, Alumina Management and Placement Management.

4. INCOME TAX DEPARTMENT LAUNCHES OPERATION CLEAN MONEY
i. Income Tax Department lead by ‎Sushil Chandra has launched Operation Clean Money to verify the cash deposited in the banks during November 9th  to December 30th 2016.
ii. An online Verification process will be carried out by comparing the demonetization data CBDT with information in ITD databases.
iii. This information will be available at the portal https://incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in. The PAN holder can view the information using the link ‘Cash Transactions 2016’ under ‘Compliance’ section of the portal.
iv. The verification will be closed if the cash deposit is declared under Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojna.

5. RELIANCE DEFENCE SIGNS CONTRACT WITH MINISTRY OF DEFENCE TO CONSTRUCT 14 FAST PATROL VESSELS FOR INDIAN COAST GUARD
i. Reliance Defence and Engineering Ltd, a wholly owned arm of Reliance Infrastructure Ltd, has signed a contract worth Rs. 916 cr with the Ministry of Defence to design and construct 14 Fast Patrol Vessels for the Indian Coast Guard.
ii. The medium range, high speed vessels would be deployed for patrolling within the exclusive economic zone, anti-smuggling, costal surveillance, anti-piracy, search and rescue operations. It will also provide support as front-line warships during emergencies.
iii. RDEL is the first private sector shipyard which has been awarded a contract of designing and building such ships for Indian Armed Forces.


6. DUSHYANT CHAUTALA APPOITED AS NEW TTFI PRESIDENT
i. Dushyant Chautala is elected as youngest president of Table Tennis Federation of India during the Annual General Body meeting held in Gurugram.
ii. Chautala with two observers Kuldip Vats and Ashwani Kumar are selected for 4 years, extends until 2021.
iii. The election has been conducted and supervised by Justice Ranjit Singh of the Punjab and Haryana High Court.
iv. 3 main office-bearers, 8 vice-presidents, 4 joint secretaries and 5 out of 8 Executive Committee members were filled as per the TTFI constitution and  the other three vacant posts in the Executive Committee will be chosen by the TTFI head.

7. AMULYA PATNAIK APPOINTED AS DELHI POLICE CHIEF
i. IPS officer from UTs cadre, Amulya Patnaik is appointed as Chief of Delhi police. He is preceeded by Alok Verma, who has been moved as the director of CBI.
ii. Patnaik is currently working as Delhi police special commissioner (admin).
