1. PM MODI LAUNCHED SPECIAL DIGITAL EXHIBITION MARKING 100 YEARS
OF CHAMPARAN SATYAGRAHA
i. An exhibition titled “Swachhagraha – Bapu Ko Karyanjali – Ek
Abhiyan, Ek Pradarshani” inaugurated by PM Narendra Modi at National Archives
of India in New Delhi.
ii. This exhibition has been organized to mark 100 years of
Champaran Satyagraha, which was Mahatma Gandhi’s 1st experiment in using non-violence
and non-cooperation as methods to protest.
iii. M Venkaiah Naidu, Minister for Information &
Broadcasting, released the 3 books to mark 100 years of Champaran Satyagraha
–‘Romain Rolland and Gandhi Correspondence’, ‘Gandhi in Champaran’ and “Mahatma
Series (8 volumes)”.
i. PM of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina was on an official visit to
India to strengthen bilateral tiesbetween two countries.
ii. India and Bangladesh signed 22 agreements for cooperation in
various areas viz. cyber security, civil nuclear cooperation, media, defence,
judicial sector, peaceful uses of outer space, electronics, transport
connectivity and information technology.
ii. After comprehensive talks between PM of India and Bangladesh,
India announced $4.5 billion line of credit for development projects in
Bangladesh.
iii. Indian PM Narendra Modi, Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina and West
Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee jointly flagged off the trial run of the
Kolkata-Khulna passenger train through video-conference form New Delhi. This
train service has been named as Maitree Express-II.
3. AYUSH MINISTER SHRIPAD YESSO NAIK INAUGURATES THE
INTERNATIONAL CONVENTION ON WORLD HOMOEOPATHY DAY IN NEW DELHI
i. To commemorate the 262nd birth anniversary of Dr. Christian
Friedrich Samuel Hahnemann – the founder of Homoeopathy, a National Convention
on World Homoeopathy was held at New Delhi. This convention was inaugurated by
Mr. Shripad Yesso Naik – Minister of State (I/C ), for AYUSH.
ii. Theme of the convention was “Enhancing Quality Research in
Homoeopathy through scientific evidence and rich clinical experiences”.
4. RAJNATH CHAIRS 11TH STANDING COMMITTEE MEET OF INTERSTATE
COUNCIL
i. Shri Rajnath Singh, Union Home Minister, chaired the 11th
Standing Committee meeting of the Inter-State council.
ii. The ministers from states of Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh, and
Punjab represented these states at meeting.
iii. Members of Standing Committee include Union Minister for
finance, Information and broadcasting, Corporate Affairs and defence minister,
Road transport and shipping.
iv. Its major agenda is the role of governors, centrally sponsored
schemes and financial transfers from center to the states, creation of a
unified agricultural market.
v. Steps to be taken to make the Inter State council more dynamic
and measures towards better fiscal management by the centre and states.
5. INDIA MONGOLIA MILITARY EXERCISE KICKS OFF IN MIZORAM
i. India- Mongolia military exercise training has started at
Vairengte in Mizoram. Mangolian Army is represented by 9 officers and 36
soldiers of the elite 084 Special Forces Task Battalion while Indian contingent
comprises 3 officers 4 Junior Commissioned officers and 39 soldiers of Jammu
and Kashmir Rifles.
ii. It is a 14 day exercise which continues till 18th April.
Christened “Exercise Nomadic Elephant- XII” aimed at training troops in
operations like counter-terrorism and counter insurgency.
iii. The joint exercise will help in boosting defence co-operation
and military relations between the two nations.
iv. Training includes important aspects like convoy protection,
room intervention drills; ambush/counter-ambush drills terrorist operations.
6. AJIT KUMAR SRIVASTAVA & SHABRI BHATTASALI NEW CBDT MEMBER
i. Shabri Bhattsali and Ajit Kumar Srivastava are appointed as
members of Cental Board Of Direct Taxes.
ii. The role of CBDT is to provide inputs for policy and planning
of direct taxes in the country.
iii. It functions like Financial Action Task Force which deals in
Money laundering and Black money.
7. SPAIN’S FIRST FEMALE DEFENCE MINISTER CARME CHACON DIES
i. Carme Chacon Spain’s 1st female defence minister has died. She
was a prominent socialist party leader.
ii. Carme who was from Barcelona was a defence minister from 2008
to 2011 under PM Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero.
iii. She was the party’s secretary for international relations
between 2014 and 2016.
8. CENTRE RELEASES NEARLY 23500 CR TO STATES UNDER MGNREGS
i. Ministry of Rural development has released nearly 23,500 cr
rupees to the States under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee
Scheme.
ii. The Govt. of India emphasized solely on Water Conservation and
Water Management works under MGNREGS.
iii. A list of 2264 water-stressed Blocks prepared by Ministry of
Water resources. These blocks are located in 324 districts of 21 states.
iv. The ministry has suggested the states to ensure not less than
65% expenditure on Natural Resource Management Activities.
vi. It is to be ensured in drought regions and in districts,
blocks where inadequate rainfall is there.
