1.      INDIA AND WORLD BANK SIGNED $200 MILLION LOAN AGREEMENT FOR ASSAM
i. The Government of India and the World Bank signed a $200 million Loan Agreement for the Assam Agribusiness and Rural Transformation Project. The Project will support Assam to facilitate agri-business investments, increase agricultural productivity and market access.
ii. The Project will be implemented in over 16 Districts of Assam. Over 500,000 farming households will directly benefit from the Project.

2.      INDIA, JAPAN BEGIN THREE-DAY ANTI-SUBMARINE DRILL
i. Navies of India and Japan began a three-day anti-submarine warfare exercise in the Indian Ocean region to deepen their operational coordination in the strategically important sea lanes around the two countries.
ii. Indian Navy's two P-8 I long-range maritime reconnaissance anti-submarine warfare aircraft and two P-3C Orion jets of the Japanese Navy will be part of the exercise.


3.      ALL ABOUT FIFA U-17 WORLD CUP 2017
i. The 17th edition of FIFA U-17 World Cup took place for the first time in India. It is a biennial international football tournament of men’s under-17 national teams organized by Federation Internationale de Football Association.
ii. The official Mascot for the FIFA U-17 World Cup 2017 was clouded leopard named ‘Kheleo’.The official ball for Under-17 football World Cup is called ‘Krasava’. The final match of the event was held in Salt Lake Stadium, Kolkata.
iii. England has won the FIFA U-17 World Cup by defeating Spain by 5-2.
iv. Switzerland’s Esther Staubli became the first female football referee to officiate a match. Jeakson Singh creates history by scoring India’s first ever goal in FIFA World Cup. FIFA U-17 WC in India becomes most attended in event’s history for the first time.
v. USA-Based Namit Deshpande becomes the First NRI to Play for India’s U17 World Cup Team. Phil Foden of England has been adjudged tournament’s best player and has been awarded ‘Golden Ball’.
vi. Rhian Brewster from England has scored the most goals in the tournament (8 goals) and has been awarded, 'Golden Boot'. Gabriel Brazao the goalkeeper of Brazil’s national football team has won the ‘Golden Glove’. Brazil has won the Fair Play Award.

4.      SAUDI ARABIA TO ALLOW WOMEN INTO SPORTS STADIUMS FROM 2018
i. Turki Al-Asheikh, Chairman of the General Sports Authority of Saudi Arabia has announced that Saudi women will now be able to attend sports events in stadiums starting from 2018.
ii. The move is aimed at empowering and engaging women in the society as an integral part of the development process.

5.      HEENA SIDHU WINS AIR PISTOL GOLD AT COMMONWEALTH SHOOTING CHAMPIONSHIPS
i. Ace Indian shooter Heena Sindhu has bagged gold in women's 10m Air Pistol event at Commonwealth Shooting Championships in Brisbane, Australia.
ii. Heena shot a score of 240.8 in the finals to beat Australia's Elena Galiabovitch, who has to settle for silver after posting 238.2. Kristy Gillman of Australia picked up the bronze medal with a score of 213.7. India also picked up their second medal through Deepak Kumar as he won bronze in men's 10m Air Rifle event.

6.      INDIA-US OCEAN DIALOGUE HELD IN GOA
i. The India-US Ocean Dialogue, hosted by the Indian Ministry of External Affairs, began at the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research-National Institute of Oceanography in Goa, India. US Create Joint Challenge Coin to Mark Partnership.
ii. The India-US Ocean Dialogue is aimed at promoting sustainable development of the Blue Economy. Blue Economy is the sustainable use of ocean resources for economic growth, improved livelihoods and jobs, and ocean ecosystem health.
ii. Acting Assistant Secretary of State for the Bureau of Oceans and International Environmental and Scientific Affairs, Judith Garber leads a high-powered American delegation. Discussions would be held on the Blue Economy, cooperation in sustainable marine resource management, fisheries governance, marine pollution, maritime law enforcement, and scientific research.

7.      MAXIMUM AGE OF JOINING NPS INCREASED FROM 60 TO 65 YEARS: FINANCE MINISTRY
i. Union Ministry of Finance increased the maximum age of joining the National Pension System from the existing 60 years to 65 years.
ii. On account of this decision, subscribers who are willing to join NPS at the later stage of life i.e. after attaining the age of 60 will be able to avail the benefits of NPS. Such subscriber who will join NPS beyond the age of 60 years will have the same choices of pension fund and investment, which is available to individuals who have subscribed before attaining the age of 60 years.
iii. They will have an option of normal exit from NPS after completion of three years. In case of seeking exit from NPS before completion of three years, he/she will have to utilize at least 80 percent of the corpus for purchase of annuity and  can withdraw the remaining amount in lumpsum.

8.      CENTRE ALLOCATED RS 109 CR TO PROMOTE TOURISM PROJECTS IN PUDUCHERRY
i. Central Government has earmarked Rs 109 cr to promote heritage and spiritual tourism projects under ‘Swadesh Darshan’ Scheme in Puducherry.
ii. Announcement in this regard was made by Puducherry CM V Narayanasamy, while addressing public on the occasion of the 63rd Liberation (De facto) day of Puducherry.
iii. Union Tourism Ministry’s Swadesh Darshan Scheme focuses on integrated development of tourist circuits around specific themes. It is to be noted that Puducherry and its port cities Karaikal, Mahe and Yanam became free from the French rule on November 1, 1954.

9.      INDIA LEAPS 30 PLACES TO 100TH RANK IN WORLD BANK’S ‘EASE OF DOING BUSINESS’ INDEX
i. India has leaped to 100th rank out of 190 countries on World Bank’s latest edition of ‘ease of doing business’ index. This marks a forward leap of 30 places as compared to 130th rank in the previous edition of the index.
ii. In the report titled ‘Doing Business 2018: Reforming to Create Jobs’, India has been recognised as one of the top 10 improvers in this year’s assessment.
iii. Doing Business 2018: Reforming to Create Jobs’ – Top 5 Countries: New Zealand, Singapore, Denmark, South Korea and Hong Kong.
