1.      SHUBHANGI SWAROOP INDIAN NAVY'S FIRST FEMALE PILOT
i. In a first, a woman has been inducted as a pilot in the Indian Navy. Shubhangi Swaroop, who hails from Uttar Pradesh, will soon be flying Maritime Reconnaissance aircraft.
ii. Three other women cadets, Astha Segal from New Delhi, Roopa A from Puducherry and Sakthi Maya S from Kerala, also created history by becoming the country’s first women officers at the Naval Armament Inspectorate branch of the Navy.

2.      CENTRE SUGGESTS ODISHA TO ENHANCE PMGSY TARGET TO 10,000 KM
i. The Centre suggested to the Odisha government to enhance its rural road construction target under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana to 10,000 km from 7,000 km during the current fiscal year.
ii. Union Secretary to Rural Development Minister Amarjit Sinha made the suggestions to Odisha after attending a high level review meeting held under the chairmanship of Odisha Chief Secretary A P Padhi.
iii. The Odisha government had earlier set a target to construct 7,000 km roads during this fiscal. So far, around 42,058 km of road have been completed connecting 13,063 habitations under PMGSY. The field level work is going on for completion of another 14,800 km of road that will connect 3,492 habitations more. These projects would be completed by March, 2019.
iv. PMGSY is being implemented with fund support from both the Central and state government on 60:40 basis.

3.      MHA CONDUCTED MULTI STATE MEGA MOCK TSUNAMI EXERCISE 2017
i. The Indian Tsunami Early Warning Centre based at Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services had conducted “Multi-State Mega Mock Exercise of Tsunami for East Coast of India”.
ii. Participants in the drill included State Disaster Management Authorities of West Bengal, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. The mock drill was conducted in collaboration with the Ministry of Home Affairs and the National Disaster Response Force.


4.      8TH EDITION OF THE GLOBAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP SUMMIT-2017 WILL BE HELD AT HYDERABAD
i. The 8th edition of the Global Entrepreneurship Summit-2017 will be held from 28th to 30th November 2017 at Hyderabad. The summit is being co-hosted by India and the USA. For the first time, it is being held in South Asia. The theme of the Global Entrepreneurship Summit-2017 is ‘Women First, Prosperity for All’.
ii. The event will focus on supporting women entrepreneurs and fostering economic growth globally. It will focus on four areas- Energy and Infrastructure, Digital Economy and Financial Technology, Health and Life Sciences and Media and Entertainment.
iii. It will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Advisor to the US President, Ivanka Trump will lead the US contingent to the event. The summit will have participation from 150 countries and women from 127 countries would participate.

5.      KOTAK MAHINDRA BANK LAUNCHES “SMART BANKING 24×7” E-LOBBIES
i. Kotak Mahindra Bank launched “Smart Banking 24X7” e-lobbies, in the Mumbai suburbs of Juhu and Powai. “Smart Banking 24×7” e-Lobbies gives customers the freedom to complete banking transactions at any hour of the day as per their convenience.
ii. It offers 24×7 access to a range of banking services such as cash withdrawals, cash deposits and cheque deposits. These e-lobbies have been structured to give an easy and non-intrusive banking experience.

6.      DEFENCE OF ANDAMAN & NICOBAR ISLANDS EXERCISE-17
i. Defence of Andaman and Nicobar Islands Exercise was conducted under the aegis of Andaman & Nicobar Command.  The five day exercise started on 20 Nov 2017 and culminated on 24 Nov 2017.
ii. From the planning stage onwards, joint planning and integrated approach was adopted for synergistic application of forces. Main objective of the exercise was to practice & validate procedures and drills of all the Command forces aimed at defending Andaman & Nicobar Islands.

7.      FDI UP 17% TO $25.35 BN DURING APRIL-SEPT THIS FISCAL
i. Foreign direct investment in the country increased by 17 percent to USD 25.35 billion during April-September fiscal (2017-18).
ii. The department of industrial policy and promotion stated on its 'Make in India' twitter handle, FDI equity during the current FY 2017–18,up to September surged by 17 per cent to USD 25.35 billion from USD 21.62 billion in the year-ago period.

8.      INDIA URGES UN TO DECLARE 2018 AS 'INTERNATIONAL YEAR OF MILLETS'
i. Union Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh has sent a proposal to United Nations for declaring 2018 as "International Year of Millets" to raise awareness among consumers, policy makers, industry and research sector.
ii. Promotion of production and consumption of millets through conscious efforts at global level is likely to contribute substantially in the fight against targeted hunger and mitigate the effect of climate change in long run.

9.      AXIS BANK LAUNCHES BLOCKCHAIN-BASED INTERNATIONAL PAYMENT SERVICE
i. Private sector lender Axis Bank has launched an instant international payment services using Ripple’s enterprise blockchain technology solution for retail and corporate customers.
ii. Though an international offer, the bank is offering the facility only to its retail customers in the country to receive payments from the UAE-based Rak Bank and for its corporate customers to receive payments from Standard Chartered, Singapore.

10.  LIONEL MESSI WINS FOURTH EUROPEAN GOLDEN SHOE AWARD
i. Lionel Messi drew level with Cristiano Ronaldo’s tally of four European Golden Shoes after receiving the award at a ceremony in Barcelona, Spain. The FC Barcelona superstar claimed the prize – handed to Europe’s top goalscorer – for his 37 LaLiga strikes in 2016-17.
ii. It is the fourth time Messi has taken the honours, after his successes in 2010, 2012 and 2013.
