1.      CABINET APPROVALS ON NOVEMBER 23, 2017
i. Cabinet approves agreement between India and Philippines on co-operation in customs matters,  Cabinet approves India’s Membership for European Bank for Reconstruction & Development.
ii. Cabinet approves signing of India – Russia Agreement on cooperation in combating terrorism, Cabinet approves continuation of the scheme on Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs beyond the 12th Plan Period.
iii. Cabinet approves Expansion of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao to improve child sex ratio.

2.      GOVT TO SET UP PRADHAN MANTRI MAHILA SHAKTI KENDRAS IN 115
i. The Centre has approved setting up of 'Pradhan Mantri Mahila Shakti Kendras' across 115 most backward districts of the country through a new scheme for reaching out to rural women and facilitating skill development, employment, digital literacy, health and nutrition.
ii. The government also approved expanding the Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao scheme from 161 districts to 640 districts in the country, as well as 150 additional 'one stop centres' for the survivors of sexual violence along with seven other programmes that are part of the umbrella scheme -- the National Mission for Empowerment of Women. The financial outlay for these schemes from 2017 to 2020 will be Rs 3,636.85 cr.


3.      IFFI NOMINATES NINE MOVIES FOR ICFT UNESCO GANDHI MEDAL
i. The International Film Festival of India has nominated nine movies for this year’s International Council for Film, Television and Audio-visual Communication UNESCO Gandhi Medal. Out of nine films, five are from India.
ii. The Indian films competing for the prestigious ICFT UNESCO Gandhi Medal are Kshitij - A Horizon, Manusangada, Poorna, Railway Children and Take-Off. The foreign films in the fray are Amok from Poland, Khibula - a co-production of Germany, France and Georgia, The Last Painting from Taiwan and Women of The Weeping River - a joint production of the US and UK.

4.      HRD MINISTRY LAUNCHES DIGITAL SIGNATURE CAMPAIGN ON CONSTITUTION DAY
i. Ministry of Human Resources Development has launched a Digital Signature campaign on Constitution Day affirming faith in Indian Constitution and to generate awareness on fundamental duties enshrined in the Constitution. Giving the link in a tweet, Mr Javadekar stated that people, can join the campaign by filling a form online. 26th November is celebrated as Constitution Day.

5.      PM MODI INAUGURATES LARGEST-EVER GLOBAL CONFERENCE ON CYBER SPACE IN NEW DELHI
i. PM Narendra Modi inaugurated 5th Global Conference on Cyber Space in New Delhi. India is hosting the Global Conference on Cyber Space for the first time. This two-day event is one of the world’s largest conferences in the field of Cyber Space and related issues.
ii. Theme of the 5th GCCS was ‘Cyber4All: A Secure and Inclusive Cyberspace for Sustainable Development’. Goal of 5th GCCS: “to promote an inclusive Cyber Space with focus on policies and frameworks for inclusivity, sustainability, development, security, safety & freedom, technology and partnerships for upholding digital democracy, maximizing collaboration for strengthening security and safety and advocating dialogue for digital diplomacy”.

6.      RBI RAISES SHAREHOLDING LIMIT OF ARCS
i. The RBI has allowed Asset Reconstruction Companies to hold more than 26% post conversion of debt into equity in companies undergoing restructuring.
ii. In a notification, the central bank notified the extent of shareholding post conversion will be in accordance with permissible foreign direct investment limit for that specific sector.

7.      SBI LAUNCHES YONO, AN INTEGRATED APP FOR FINANCIAL SERVICES
i. State Bank of India, the country’s largest public sector bank, has launched a unified integrated app called You Need Only One that would offer all kinds of financial and lifestyle products. YONO will also allow customers to meet their lifestyle needs across 14 categories including booking and renting cabs, entertainment, dining experience, travel and stay, medical needs and so on.
ii. To provide the customised offers and discounts, SBI has partnered with e-commerce players including Amazon, Uber, Ola, Myntra, Jabong, Shoppers Stop, Cox & Kings, Thomas Cook, Yatra, Airbnb, Swiggy and Byjus.

8.      GOVT NOTIFIES MINIMUM EXPORT PRICE OF ONION AT $850 PER TONNE
i. The government has notified Minimum Export Price of onion at 850 dollars per tonne to ensure its availability in the domestic market.
ii. Food and Consumer Affairs Minister Ram Vilas Paswan stated this will discourage cheap export from the country and augment its domestic availability. The Ministry had authorized National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation and Small Farmers Agribusiness Consortium to procure 12 thousand tonnes onion.

9.      SANGAI FESTIVAL 2017 HELD IN MANIPUR
i. The Sangai Festival 2017 was inaugurated by President Ram Nath Kovind in Manipur. The Sangai Festival 2017 is held for 10 days. It is named after Manipur’s state animal, the brow-antlered Sangai deer.
ii. The Sangai Festival showcases the tourism potential of Manipur in the field of arts & culture, handloom, handicrafts, indigenous sports, cuisine, music and adventure sports etc. The Sangai Festival is organized at different locations in Imphal and Bishnupur District. For the first time, Keibul Lamjao, a unique ‘floating’ reserve situated in Manipur in India’s Northeast, which is home to the brow-antlered deer, also plays host to the festival.

10.  ROYAL BANK OF CANADA JOINS THE GLOBAL RANKS OF BANKS DEEMED ‘TOO BIG TO FAIL’
i. Royal Bank of Canada has become the first Canadian bank to be added to the Financial Stability Board’s list of global systemically important banks deemed ‘too big to fail’.
ii. FSB has added RBC and has removed French bank Groupe BPCE from the list. Currently, there are 30 institutions on Financial Stability Board’s list of global systemically important banks. On being added in this list, Royal Bank of Canada will now have to set aside larger capital buffers and will be subjected to more stringent supervision and compliance.
