1.      FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE OF RS 2,302.05 CR FOR PROJECTS UNDER COASTAL BERTH SCHEME
i. Union Ministry of Shipping has announced to provide financial assistance worth Rs 2302 cr for projects under the Coastal Berth Scheme of the flagship Sagarmala Programme.
ii. Projects under Coastal Berth Scheme will be executed in total eight states. With 12 projects, Maharashtra is the state having highest number of projects under this scheme.
iii. 10 projects will be executed in Andhra Pradesh & Goa, 6 projects in Karnataka, 3 projects in Kerala and Tamil Nadu, 2 projects in Gujarat and 1 in West Bengal.


2.      INDIAN RAILWAYS LAUNCHES MAIN ARCH ON WORLD’S HIGHEST BRIDGE ON CHENAB
i. Indian Railways has launched the main arch of the world’s highest bridge on the river Chenab in Jammu and Kashmir’s Reasi district which will provide direct connectivity to the Kashmir valley. ii. The bridge will stand 359 metres above the bed of the River Chenab and will be 30 metres higher than the Eiffel Tower in Paris. The bridge forms link in the 111-km distance between Katra and Banihal which is part of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla section of the Kashmir Railway project.
iii. The 1.3-km-long bridge is being constructed at a cost of Rs. 1,250 crore. The the bridge would be completed by May 2019. The bridge could withstand winds up to 260 kmph and its lifespan will be 120 years.

3.      INDIAN WOMEN WIN ASIA CUP, QUALIFIES FOR HOCKEY WORLD CUP
i. India has defeated China 5-4 via shootout to win the women’s Asia Cup hockey title 2017. With this, India also qualified for World Cup 2018 as Continental champion.
ii. Savita Punia was adjudged Goalkeeper-of-the-Tournament while Monica won the Woman-of-the-Match award. Skipper Rani scored twice while Monica, Lilima Minz and Navjot Kaur scored a goal each in the shootout.

4.      INDIA, BANGLADESH JOINT MILITARY COMBAT EXERCISE “SAMPRITI” BEGINS IN MEGHALAYA
i. ‘SAMPRITI 2017’, the 7th edition of Indo-Bangladesh joint military training exercise begun in Meghalaya.
ii. ’SAMPRITI 2017’ will be held from 6th – 18th November, 2017. Firstly, Command Post Exercise will be conducted from 6th – 11th November, 2017 in Umroi, Meghalaya followed by Field Training Exercise at India’s Jungle Warfare School at Vairengte in Mizoram.
iii. 20 officers each from both the sides will participate in CPX, whereas one infantry company from both the armies will take part in FTX. Exercise ‘SAMPRITI’ is held alternately in India and Bangladesh every year.
iv. Objective of this exercise is to enhance interoperability between army personnel of India and Bangladesh while carrying out joint counter-insurgency or counter-terrorism operations. Previous edition of ‘SAMPRITI’ was held at Tangail in Dhaka, Bangladesh in 2016.

5.      HSBC PLEDGES $100 BILLION OF FINANCE BY 2025 TO COMBAT CLIMATE CHANGE
i. HSBC pledged to provide $100 billion in financing and investment by 2025 to help combat climate change. HSBC has promised $100billion of finance for low-carbon technology and sustainable development by 2025 as part its commitment to tackling climate change and other “green” goals.
ii. It has also committed that all electricity used by HSBC would come from renewable sources by 2030, starting from 24 % today. It would achieve this through direct lending, bonds and project finance, alongside new products in asset management.
iii. HSBC also said it would become more transparent about risks to its business and to those of its clients from climate change by adopting recommendations made by the Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures.

6.      POONGUZHALI BECOMES FIRST WOMAN SR DDG APPOINTED IN TERM, DOT
i. N Poonguzhali has become the first woman to be appointed as senior Deputy Director General, Tamil Nadu, Telecom Enforcement Resource Monitoring, Department of Telecommunications.
ii. She is an Indian telecom service officer of the 1979 batch and an alumnus of IIT Madras.

7.      BEST URBAN TRANSPORT PRACTICES AWARDS ANNOUNCED IN URBAN MOBILITY CONFERENCE HELD IN HYDERABAD
i. Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs announced ‘Best Urban Transport Practices’ Award on the concluding day of the three day Urban Mobility Conference –cum-Exhibition at Hyderabad.
ii. Surat Municipal Corporation has won ‘Best City Bus Services Award’ for attracting 87% of the private vehicle and auto rickshaw users to use city buses. This feat was accomplished with Bus Rapid Transport System which was made operational in 2014. BRTS in Surat currently operates 275 buses on 28 routes.
iii. Mysuru’s ‘Public Bicycle Sharing’ has been chosen for ‘Best Non-Motorised Transport’ Award.

8.      MOHAN JOSHI HONOURED WITH VISHNUDAS BHAVE AWARD
i. Veteran actor Mohan Joshi was honoured with the prestigious Vishnudas Bhave award for his contribution to theatre. Mohan Joshi was honoured with Vishnudas Bhave award at a ceremony held in Sangli, Maharashtra on the eve of Marathi Rangbhumi Din.
ii. Veteran actor Jayant Sawarkar presented the Vishnudas Bhave award to Mohan Joshi. Joshi has acted in a number of Marathi and Hindi films and plays.
iii. The award is instituted in memory of Vishnudas Bhave, the founder of Marathi theatre. The award consists of a trophy, a citation and a cash of Rs 25,000.

9.      GOA TO HOLD NOBEL PRIZE SERIES-INDIA 2018
i. Goa State Government signed a trilateral Memorandum of Understanding with the Department of Bio-Technology under Union Ministry of Science and Technology and Nobel Media, Sweden to hold the ‘Nobel Prize Series — India 2018’ from 1st – 28th February, 2018.
ii. ’Nobel Prize Series – India 2018’ will consist of a month-long exhibition from the Nobel Museum and Nobel dialogues in which Nobel laureates will interact with school children and teachers.
iii. The event will be jointly organised by Department of Bio-Technology under Union Ministry of Science and Technology and Nobel Media, Sweden. Theme of this event will be ‘Science Impacts Life’.
iv. The first edition of ‘Nobel Prize Series in India’ was held in Gujarat in January 2017.

10.  COL. RAJYAVARDHAN RATHORE IN EGYPT TO ATTEND WORLD YOUTH FORUM
i. The Minister of State (I/ C) Youth Affairs and Sports Col. Rajyavardhan Rathore is in Egypt to attend World Youth Forum at Sharam El Shiekh.
ii. The five-day forum was inaugurated by the President of Egypt Mr Abdelfateh El Sisi. The Forum aims to provide a platform to the youth from all over the globe to engage with the key global policymakers.

11.  ADITI ASHOK WINS IN ABU DHABI FOR HER THIRD LET TITLE
i. 19 Year old Indian golfer Aditi Ashok made her return to the Ladies European Tour by clinching the Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Open in Abu Dhabi.
ii. It is Aditi's third LET win in less than 12 months.
