1.      NORTH EAST ASSEMBLY ELECTIONS 2018 – RESULTS
i. During February 2018, Legislative Assembly Elections were held in three North Eastern States – Tripura, Meghalaya and Nagaland.
ii. Tripura State Legislative Assembly election – BharatiyaJanata Party  along with its ally, Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura  has won 43 seats and has thereby got the majority.
iii. BJP won has 35 seats while IPFT has won 8 seats. Meghalaya State Legislative Assembly election  threw a hung verdict as none of the parties contesting the election managed to get a clear majority. Nagaland State Legislative Assembly election, was for 59 out of 60 seats.
vi. Incumbent Chief Minister TR Zeliang’s Naga People’s Front won 27 seats and emerged as single largest party.


2.      KARNATAKA UNVEILS HEALTHCARE SCHEME AROGYA KARNATAKA
i.Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah unveiled ‘Arogya Karnataka’ (Healthy Karnataka), a healthcare scheme to provide quality primary, secondary and tertiary treatment to Below Poverty Line and Above Poverty Line families in Karnataka.
ii. Under this scheme, individuals from all below-poverty-line households in the state will get free treatment at government hospitals.
iii. For individuals from above-poverty-line  households, the State Government will bear about 30 per cent of the treatment cost. Important National Parks – Bandipur National Park, Bannerghatta National Park

3.      ODISHA GOVT LAUNCHES ‘AMAGAON, AMAVIKAS’ PROGRAMME
Odisha State Government has launched ‘AmaGaon, AmaVikas’ (our village, our development) programme.
ii.The objective is to reach out to the people in rural areas of Odisha and involve them in developmental activities.
iii., Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik flagged off ‘AmaGaon, AmaVikas’ video vans.
iv. These video vans will move across Odisha and will highlight various welfare schemes of Government.
v. Odisha State Government believes that this initiative will help in solving people’s grievances instantly.

4.      INDIA BECOMES  FASTEST GROWING ECONOMY AGAIN GROWS AT 7.2 PER CENT IN Q3
i. India regained its tag of fastest growing economy from China, as Chinese economy recorded a 6.8 per cent growth rate during October-December 2018 quarter of the current fiscal.
ii. The higher growth rate indicates that Indian economy has finally overcome the disruptions caused by Goods and Services Tax.

5.      GADCHIROLI BOOK READING EVENT SETS NEW GUINNESS WORLD RECORD
i. Gadchiroli book reading event created a new Guinness world record breaking the Guinness world record created in Turkey on 18th May 2017.
ii. Nearly 7,000 people participated in the book reading event conducted at Gadchiroli, Maharashtra. The event was organised by police authorities.
iii.The book reading event in Turkey held on 18th May 2017 had participation from 5,754 people.Maharashtra women’s team wins interstate national tennis championship 2018 in ChhattisgarhOn 3rd March 2018, the Maharashtra women’s team won the interstate national tennis championship 2018 held in Chhattisgarh.

6.      MAHARASHTRA WOMEN’S TEAM WINS INTERSTATE NATIONAL TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIP 2018:
i. The interstate national tennis championship 2018 was organised by the Chhattisgarh State Tennis Association  under the guidance of All India Tennis Association  from 26th February to 3rd March 2018.
ii. Maharashtra’s MihikaYadav defeated Delhi’s RishikaSunkara 6-2,7-6,(3) in the finals.

7.      AFGHANISTAN’S RASHID KHAN BECOMES YOUNGEST INTERNATIONAL CRICKET CAPTAIN
i.Rashid Khan of Afghanistan has become the youngest captain in international cricket.
ii. Rashid Khan is 19 years old.
iii. Afghanistan is now playing against Scotland in first of the ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifiers in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe.
