1.      UDYAMSAKHI PORTAL LAUNCHED FOR WOMEN ENTREPRENEURS
i. The Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises  launched a portal for women entrepreneurs of India On the occasion of International Women’s Day,
ii. The portal is a network for nurturing entrepreneurship and creating business models for low-cost products and services in order to empower women and make them self-reliant.


2.      MYANMAR’S AUNG SAN SUUKYI STRIPPED OF HUMAN RIGHTS AWARD
i. Myanmar’s leader Aung San SuuKyi was stripped off her human rights award conferred by US Holocaust Memorial Museum.
I i. The Museum announced that it was withdrawing SuuKyi'sAward, which they had presented to her in 2012.
 iii. The decision was taken following the ongoing violence against the Rohingya Muslim minority community in the Rakhine state of Myanmar Aung San SuuKyi,won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1991

3.      ARCHITECT BV DOSHI BECOMES 1ST INDIAN TO WIN PRITZKER PRIZE
i. Architect Balkrishna Vithaldas Doshi has become the first Indian to win the Pritzker Prize, the highest award in architecture.
ii. Doshi's most noted works include a low-cost housing project in Indore which accommodates 80,000 people.
iii.The award was announced by Tom Pritzker of the Chicago-based Hyatt Foundation.

4.      SUPREME COURT ALLOWS PASSIVE EUTHANASIA AND LIVING WILL WITH STRICT GUIDELINES
i. Recognising right to die with dignity as a fundamental right, the Supreme Court  ruled that the passive euthanasia and advance 'living will' are permissible.
ii. The ruling was given by a five-judge Constitution Bench comprising Chief Justice DipakMisra and Justices AK Sikri, AM Khanwilkar, DY Chandrachud and Ashok Bhushan.
iii. A person can make a statement in advance that his life should not be prolonged by putting him on a ventilator or an artificial support system.

5.      IRAQ BECOMES INDIA’S BIGGEST OIL SUPPLIER
i. Iraq has become India’s biggest crude oil supplier by overtaking Saudi Arabia .
ii. Iraq supplied 38.9 million tonnes of oil, which was more than 20% of country’s oil needs. India is 80% dependent on imports to meet its oil needs.

6.      RAJASTHAN PASSES BILL TO AWARD DEATH PENALTY FOR RAPE OF GIRLS BELOW 12 YEARS OF AGE
i. Rajasthan Assembly  passed The Criminal Laws (Rajasthan Amendment) Bill, 2018 awarding death penalty to convicts involved in the rape of girls below 12 years of age.
ii. According to law  person who is convicted of raping or gang-raping a girl up to twelve years of age will be given a death sentence or rigorous imprisonment, which shall not be less than fourteen years.
iii. It will award life sentence and life imprisonment to child rapists and will ensure that the convict does not get out of the jail even after completing 14 years of sentence.
