1.      INDIA NO LONGER A NATION WITH WORLD’S LARGEST POOR POPULATION: WORLD BANK
i. As per Future Development blog of the World Bank’s Brookings Institute titled as ‘The start of a new poverty narrative’ India is no longer a nation having world’s largest poor population.
ii. Nigeria has overtaken India with the largest number of extremely poor people at 87 million in early 2018.
iii. This has been computed for 188 countries and territories, developed and developing, across the world. India is moving down in global poverty ranking.
iv. From 125 million poor people in 2016, India had just 73 million people in the poorest of the poor index as of May 2018.

2.      UAE’S EMIRATES AND US CROP ONE HOLDINGS TO BUILD WORLD’S LARGEST VERTICAL FARM IN DUBAI
i. The United Arab Emirates (UAE) flagship carrier Emirates Airline has launched a joint project with US Crop One Holdings to build the world’s largest vertical farming facility near Dubai’s Al Maktoum International Airport.

3.      INDIA 4TH AS WEB ATTACKS ON THE RISE GLOBALLY: AKAMAI TECHNOLOGIES
i. Cloud delivery network provider Akamai Technologies announced that India ranked fourth in the list of top 10 target countries for Web Application Attacks.
ii. Registering over 2.8 crore attacks, India also ranked eighth globally in the list of Web Application Attack source countries.

4.      NORWAY: THE BEST IN WORLD IN TRAFFIC SAFETY
i. According to European Transport Safety Council (ETSC) and reports from newspaper Aftenposten, Norway has least traffic accidents in the world.

5.      MCX LAUNCHES ‘COTTON MISSION’ FOR MAHARASHTRA FARMERS
i. The Multi Commodity Exchange of India LTd. (MCX) signed a MoU with the Maharashtra government to create a value chain with final market linkages for thousands of cotton farmers in Vidarbha.
ii. Government is committed to doubling farmer’s income by 2022 
iii. The Government has increased the budgetary allocation of Agriculture and Farmer Welfare Ministry in the budget 2018-19 to Rs 58,080 cr from51,576 cr in 2017-18.

6.      NTPC RANKED 25TH IN INDIA’S GREAT PLACE TO WORK LIST
i. NTPC announced that it has been ranked 25th in the list of India’s Great Place to Work for 2018.
ii. NTPC is the only public sector undertaking in the top 25 of the India’s Great Place to Work for 2018 list.

7.      SONAKSHI SINHA JOINS HANDS WITH UNESCO TO PROMOTE SAFE CYBERSPACE FOR CHILDREN
i. Indian actress Sonakshi Sinha has joined hands with UNESCO to promote a safe and secure cyber environment for youngsters.

8.      INDIAN-ORIGIN LAWYER DEDAR SINGH GILL APPOINTED JUDICIAL COMMISSIONER OF SINGAPORE’S SUPREME COURT
i. Dedar Singh Gill, an Indian-origin intellectual property litigator in Singapore has been appointed judicial commissioner of Singapore’s Supreme Court by Singapore President Halimah Yacob.

9.      JANARDAN SINGH GEHLOT ELECTED INTERNATIONAL KABADDI FEDERATION (IKF) CHIEF
i. This announcement was made after the Annual General Congress (AGC) of IKF. 

10.  YOUSAF SALEEM SWORN-IN AS THE FIRST-EVER VISUALLY IMPAIRED JUDGE OF PAKISTAN
i. Yousuf Saleem, a visually impaired lawyer has become the first-ever visually impaired judge of Pakistan.
ii. Yousuf Saleem is 25 years old. He hails from Lahore. On 26th June 2018, he took the oath to be sworn in as a civil judge at Punjab Judiciary Academy.

11.  ISSF JUNIOR WORLD CUP IN SUHL, GERMANY
i. In the Junior men 10m air rifle final, India’s Hriday Hazarika shot 248.7 points and won gold medal.
ii. In the 10m air pistol event India’s Saurabh Chaudhary with 243.7 points won the gold medal and also created a new world record

12.  INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PARLIAMENTARISM – 30 JUNE
i. 30 June 2018, is celebrated as the first International Day of Parliamentarism.
ii. On 30th June 1889 the Inter-Parliamentary Union was established.

1.      INDIA PLEDGES $5 MILLION FOR UN PALESTINIAN AID AGENCY
i. India has pledged USD 5 million in assistance to the UN agency working for the welfare of Palestinian refugees to help bolster its "severe funding crisis" following US' cut in its annual aid to United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees .
ii. A total of 20 countries, including India, announced contributions to the 2018 budget of the UNRWA for Palestine Refugees in the Near East during a meeting.

2.      GUJARAT CM ANNOUNCES AGRICULTURE JWG WITH ISRAEL
i.Israel and  Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani met Israel's Agriculture and Rural Development Minister Uri Ariel and announced a joint working group   between Gujarat and Israel in the fields of agriculture, horticulture and allied sectors.
ii. The objective of the meeting was strengthening the Indo-Israeli agricultural cooperation and extension of the Indo-Israel Agriculture Plan (IIAP) and also to explore the opportunities of using the hi-tech protective cultivation and precision farming methods of Israel.
Israel Capital- Jerusalem, Currency- Israeli new shekel, Prime Minister- Benjamin Netanyahu.

3.      SURESH PRABHU LAUNCHES MOBILE APP 'REUNITE'
i. Union Minister of Commerce & Industry and Civil Aviation, Suresh Prabhu launched a mobile application called 'ReUnite' which helps to track and trace missing and abandoned children in India.
ii. The app is multiuser where parents and citizens can upload pictures of children, and provide detailed description like name, birthmark, address, report to the police station, search and identify missing kids.

1.      GOVERNMENT APPROVES DRAFT ACT TO REPLACE UGC WITH HECI
i. The Union Ministry of Human Resource Development proposed a draft bill to repeal the University Grants Commission  and set up the Higher Education Commission of India .
ii.This move that aims to reform higher education in India.
ii. The draft Act is in accordance with the commitment of Government for reforming the regulatory systems that provide for more autonomy and facilitate the holistic growth of the education system.
iii. The Act entitled ‘Higher Education Commission of India Act, 2018 (Repeal of University Grants Commission Act)’ revamps UGC Act, 1951 and its parent legislation completely.

2.      GOVERNMENT APPROVES 2 MORE STRATEGIC OIL STORAGES IN ODISHA AND KARNATAKA
i. The government has decided to set up two more underground crude oil storages in Odisha and Karnataka to increase emergency stockpile cover by 12 days to 22 days.
ii.The Cabinet has approved setting up of 4 million tonne  storage at Chandikhole in Odisha and 2.5 MT storage at Padur in Karnataka.
ii. The storages will be additional to the existing rock caverns to shore 5.33 MT of crude Visakhapatnam (1.33 MT), Mangalore (1.5 MT) and Padur (2.5 MT).
Dharmendra Pradhan is the present Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas.

3.      PAKISTAN PLACED ON FATF’S ‘GREY LIST’
i. Pakistan has been placed on the grey list by the Financial Action Task Force for failing to curb anti-terror financing despite its diplomatic efforts to avert the decision.
ii. The decision was taken at the global financial watchdog Financial Action Task Force’s  plenary session in Paris where Finance Minister Shamshad Akhtar represented Pakistan.
The FATF is an inter-governmental body established in 1989 to combat money laundering, terrorist financing and other related threats to the integrity of the international financial system.
