1. BORLAUG
CAST COMMUNICATION AWARD
·
Council for Agricultural Science and
Technology (CAST) named Indian-American agricultural
scientist Dr. Karim Maredia the winner of Borlaug
CAST Communication Award (BCCA 2026).
·
The award was renamed in 2010 in the honour
of Nobel Laureate Dr. Norman Borlaug, who won the
Prize for helping improve food production during the Green Revolution, and Dr.
Charles A. Black (CAST’s 1st President).
2. PRESIDENT’S
COLOUR TO GOA POLICE
·
Union Minister Amit Shah, Ministry
of Home Affairs (MHA) presented the President’s
Colour to the Goa Police during a ceremony held in Panaji, Goa.
·
Goa
Police received the award in recognition for over 80 years of its
service, courage and professionalism
·
Goa Police launched an Artificial
Intelligence (AI)-based call agent for the national cybercrime
helpline 1930, marking a major step in strengthening the fight
against cyber fraud.
·
Goa
Police ranked 1st nationally for several months in implementing new criminal
laws and currently stands 2nd
·
President’s Colour is
also known as “Rashtrapati ka Nishan”,
the highest honour bestowed upon a
military unit, training institute, or state or Union Territory (UT) police
force in India, recognizing exceptional service, bravery, and professionalism
in both peace and war.
3. DR. APJ
ABDUL KALAM JAN SEVA PURASKAR 2026
·
The Chairman of the National Commission for
Scheduled Castes (NCSC), Kishor Makwana, was
conferred the “Dr. APJ
Abdul Kalam Jan Seva Puraskar 2026” in
recognition of the Commission’s dedicated service and significant contribution
to social justice.

The
award was presented during the 16th
Sansad Ratna Awards 2026 held in New Delhi
·
NCSC: Established
on 19 February 2004 under Article 338 of
the Constitution of India, after the bifurcation of the erstwhile
commission under the 89th Constitutional Amendment Act, 2003, and is
headquartered in New Delhi

GRAND PRIX 2026
·
Italy’s Andrea Kimi
Antonelli of Mercedes won the 77th edition of the Italian Grand Prix (GP) at Monza
Circuit, Italy
·
George Russell (United Kingdom, UK) of Mercedes
secured second place
·
Max Verstappen (Netherlands)
of Red Bull Racing secured third place
5. CHINA
MASTERS BADMINTON MEN’S DOUBLES TITLE
·
Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and
Chirag Shetty became the first Indians to win the China Masters since
the tournament began in 2005, defeating China’s He Jiting and Ren Xiangyu in
the men’s doubles final at Shenzhen, China.
·
The
19th edition of the China Masters was held from 1 to 6 September 2026.
·
Satwik-Chirag
won men’s doubles gold at the 2022 Asian Games and 2022 Commonwealth Games, the
2023 Badminton Asia Championships title
·
In 2023, they became the first
Indian Men’s Doubles pair to achieve World
No.1 ranking.
·
Both
are recipients of the Major Dhyan Chand
Khel Ratna Award.
6. PICKLEBALL
WORLD CUP 2026
·
The Indian Pickleball Association (IPA)
led Indian contingent secured fourth
place at the Pickleball World Cup 2026,
held in Da Nang, Vietnam winning 41 medals
including 7 gold, 17 silver, 17 bronze, among 82 nations
·
Vietnam topped
the standings with 116 gold, 81 silver, and 74 bronze medals (271 total),
followed by South Korea with 11 gold, 9 silver, and
5 bronze (25 total), and USA with 9 gold, 10 silver, and
9 bronze (28 total).
7. EXERCISE
‘VEER GUARDIAN-2026’
·
The Indian Air Force (IAFand
the Japan Air Self-Defence Force (JASDF) conducted the 2nd
edition of the bilateral air exercise Veer
Guardian-2026 at Air Force Station Jodhpur,
Rajasthan
·
Veer Guardian-2026 is the second India-Japan bilateral air combat exercise, following
the first edition in Japan in 2023.
8. NATIONAL
TEACHERS’ DAY 2026 – SEPTEMBER 5
·
The day marks the birth
anniversary of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan,
a renowned scholar, philosopher, the first Vice-President (1952–1962), and the
second President of India (1962–1967).
·
In
1962, when Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan
became the second President of India,
his students sought to celebrate his birthday, but he suggested observing 5
September as Teachers’ Day instead.
·
Teachers’
Day was first
celebrated on 5 September 1962
·
The President of India Droupadi Murmu
conferred National Teachers Awards 2026 to 48 school teachers and
National Awards to Teachers (NAT) on 21 teachers/faculties of
Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) and polytechnics to recognise excellence
in teaching.
9. INTERNATIONAL
DAY OF POLICE COOPERATION 2026 – SEPTEMBER 7
·
The United Nations (UN) observes 7
September every year as the International Day of
Police Cooperation to highlight the vital role of law enforcement
agencies in maintaining global security and international cooperation.
·
2026 Theme: “Protecting against Vulnerability –
Building Trust and Legitimacy in Policing”.
·
The day was observed for the
first time on 7 September 2023, coinciding with
the 100th anniversary of the International Criminal
Police Organization (INTERPOL).
·
The date marks the establishment of
INTERPOL’s predecessor, the International Criminal Police Commission (ICPC), on
7 September 1923.
10. INTERNATIONAL
LITERACY DAY 2026- SEPTEMBER 8
·
Theme: “Literacy
for people, the planet and prosperity”
·
The idea of celebrating ILD was first
proposed during the inaugural World Congress of Ministers of Education on the
Eradication of Illiteracy, held in Tehran, Iran in 1965.
·
In 1966, the UNESCO General Conference at its
14th session in Paris, France, officially proclaimed 8 September of every year
as ILD.
·
The
first ILD was celebrated on 8 September 1967.
11. RBI RELEASES
FINANCIAL STABILITY REPORT 2026
·
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) released
the Financial Stability Report (FSR) - June 2026, a
half-yearly publication that presents the collective assessment of the Sub-Committee of
the Financial Stability and Development Council (FSDC) on the
current and emerging risks to the stability of the Indian Financial System.
·
The Indian economy recorded a strong growth of 7.7% in
2025-26, supported by strong private consumption and fixed investment.
·
The
MPC revised its inflation projection upwards from 4.6% to 5.1% for
2026-27.: India’s foreign exchange reserves stood
at USD 672.6 billion (Bn) as on June 19, 2026,
covering more than 10 months of merchandise imports and 90.6% of outstanding
external debt.
12. RBI
GRANTS SCHEDULED BANK STATUS TO COASTAL LOCAL AREA BANK
·
The scheduled bank status will provide Coastal LAB access to RBI liquidity
facilities and money market operations, strengthening its institutional
position and supporting future expansion.
·
Coastal LAB remains classified as a LAB
despite its inclusion in the RBI Act’s Second Schedule.

APPROVALS: RNFI SERVICES, PB PAY & ICICI PRUDENTIAL AMC
·
RNFI Services Ltd., a leading fintech platform, secured
in-principle authorisation from the
Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to operate as a Payment Aggregator-Physical (PA-P) under
the Payment and Settlement Systems Act (PSS Act, 2007).
·
PB Pay Private
Limited, wholly-owned
subsidiary of PB Fintech, officially started commercial operations as a Payment-Aggregator (PA),
after it secured regulatory authorisation from RBI in February 2026.
·
RBI has approved the acquisition of an aggregate holding
of up to 9.95% of CSB Bank Ltd.’s paid-up share capital or voting rights by ICICI
Prudential Asset Management Company (AMC).
14. NIPL,
FOMO PAY PARTNER TO ENABLE UPI QR ACCEPTANCE IN SINGAPORE
·
NPCI International Payments Limited (NIPL),
the international arm of the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI),
announced a strategic partnership with FOMO Pay, a Singapore-headquartered payment institution, to enable
Unified Payments Interface (UPI) Quick
Response (QR) code acceptance for merchants in Singapore.
·
NIPL incorporated
on April 3, 2020, is a wholly owned
subsidiary of the NPCI responsible
for global deployment of UPI and RuPay payment systems.
