1. DILEEP
SANGHANI ELECTED TO ICA GLOBAL BOARD
·
Dileep Sanghani, chairman
of Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Limited (IFFCO), one
of India’s leading cooperative fertilizer organizations, was elected as an
At-Large Director to the Global Board of the International Cooperative Alliance (ICA)
for the 2026-2030 term.
·
Sanghani
was among the 15 At-Large Directors
elected from 24 candidates during the ICA
General Assembly 2026, held in Panama City, Panama.
·
Dr. Ariel Guarco of
Argentina was re-elected unopposed as
President of ICA.
·
The
ICA Global Board comprises 30 members, including the President, 4
Regional Vice-Presidents, one representative from each of ICA’s 8 sectoral
organisations, President of the Youth Committee, President of the Gender
Equality Committee and 15 At-Large Directors.
2. FIRST
WOMAN IG OF CRPF COBRA UNIT
·
Senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officer Sanjukta
Parashar took charge as the Inspector General (IG) of
the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA) unit,
becoming the first woman officer to lead the elite jungle warfare force.
·
She
took charge as IG of the 10-battalion CoBRA sector
headquarters in New Delhi, succeeding Danesh Rana.
·
Sanjukta Parashar is a 2006-batch IPS officer
from the Assam-Meghalaya cadre, popularly known as the “Iron Lady of
Assam” for her frontline counter-insurgency operations.
·
The CoBRA, raised in 2008–09, is a
specialised 10-battalion CRPF unit trained for guerrilla warfare,
long-range patrols, and operations against
Left-Wing Extremism and insurgency.
3.
PMMSY COMPLETES SIX YEARS
·
The Pradhan
Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) completed six years, marking a significant milestone in the
transformation of India’s fisheries
sector towards modernisation, sustainability and prosperity.
·
PMMSY was launched in 2020 with
an outlay of Rs 20,050 crore to promote the sustainable and responsible
development of the fisheries sector.
·
PMMSY is implemented by the Department of
Fisheries(DoF) under the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and
Dairying (MoFAH&D).
4. PRADHAN
MANTRI KISAN MAANDHAN YOJANA COMPLETED SEVEN
YEARS
·
The Pradhan Mantri Kisan Maandhan Yojana (PM-KMY)
completed seven years, marking continued support for the old-age social security of Small
and Marginal Farmers (SMFs) through a voluntary contributory pension
scheme.
·
As of
February 2026, a total of 24.96 lakh farmers have enrolled
under the scheme across the country.
·
It
was launched by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers
Welfare (MoA&FW) in 2019.
·
The scheme is implemented in collaboration with the Life Insurance
Corporation of India (LIC).
·
The
PM-KMY is a voluntary, contributory
old-age pension scheme, which offers eligible landholding SMFs the
assurance of a steady monthly pension from the age of 60.
·
All
SMFs having cultivable landholding up to 2 hectares (ha) in
the age group of 18 to 40 years, whose name
appears in the land records of the respective States or Union Territories as on
1 August 2019.
·
Monthly
contributions are in the range from Rs. 55 to Rs.
200, based on the farmer’s
age at the time of entry into the Scheme.
·
Farmers
can choose contribution frequencies of
monthly, quarterly, four-monthly or half-yearly.
5. 9TH
ASEAN–INDIA MINISTERIAL MEETING
·
The 9th ASEAN–India
Ministerial Meeting on Agriculture and Forestry (9th AIMMAF) was
held in New Delhi in agriculture and forestry.
·
Bilateral
trade in goods between India and ASEAN reached USD 128 billion
in the Financial Year 2025–26 (FY26).
6. YEAR
OF INDIA-VIETNAM FRIENDSHIP-2027
·
India and Vietnam agreed to observe 2027
as the “Year of India-Vietnam Friendship” to mark 55
years of diplomatic relations, during the 19th India-Vietnam
Joint Commission Meeting (JCM) held in New Delhi.
·
India and Vietnam agreed to strengthen trade, investment, supply chains and market access,
enhance financial, port and air connectivity, and expand cooperation in space
and nuclear energy.
·
Trade: India
and Vietnam agreed to leverage
complementary strengths, improve market access and facilitate business
activities to achieve the USD 25 billion bilateral trade
target by 2030.
7. COLOMBO
SECURITY CONCLAVE TABLE TOP EXERCISE
·
A three-day
Table Top Exercise (TTX) under the Colombo Security
Conclave (CSC) concluded at the Eastern Naval Command,
Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh (AP), focusing on
strengthening coordinated responses to illegal
maritime activities in the Indian Ocean Region (IOR).
·
The
exercise, brought together maritime security
experts and delegations from CSC member and observer countries to simulate
operational scenarios and improve regional maritime coordination.
·
CSC is
a regional security grouping focused on
cooperation in areas such as maritime safety and security,
counter-terrorism, disaster management and transnational organised crime in the
IoR.
·
Its
members include India,
Sri Lanka, Maldives, Mauritius, Bangladesh and Seychelles.
8. 18TH
BRICS SUMMIT
·
India under
the Presidency of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, successfully
hosted the 18th edition of BRICS (Brazil,
Russia, India, China and South Africa) Summit.
·
Theme
“Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability”.
·
This
year’s summit marked India’s 4th Chairship
of BRICS, previously, it hosted the summit
in 2012, 2016 and 2021.
·
2026 BRICS Summit was structured around 4 main pillars i.e. Resilience, Innovation,
Cooperation and Sustainability.
PM Modi Addressed Session:
·
While addressing the BRIC leaders’ outreach
summit, PM Narendra Modi cautioned that “the weaponisation of technology and critical minerals” could impede
progress and emphasized the need for “inclusivity”.
·
During
the session PM Modi announced a series of initiatives such as: BRICS Integrated Early Warning System (EWS)
for prevention of and response of infectious
diseases.
·
BRICS Logistics Supply Chain Cooperation framework.
·
BRICS Incubator Network, Startup Innovation Fund.
·
BRICS Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise
(MSME) portal.
·
Digital Centre for Smart Grids and Energy Storage.
·
Urban Mobility Hub (UMH).
·
Centres
of Excellence(CoEs) for Agro-Ecology and
Regenerative Agriculture.
·
Xi
Jinping, President of China,
proposed 5-point action plan aimed to boost cooperation in manufacturing,
trade and technology across member states.
·
PM Modi unveiled two commemorative postage stamps marking 20
years of BRICS cooperation.
·
Inscription: Bears the text
“BRICS: Two Decades of Cooperation, 2006–2026” / “ब्रिक्स: सहयोग के दो दशक,
2006–2026”.
·
First Stamp: Represents the
growth of BRICS as a platform built on mutual respect, solidarity, and
understanding.
·
Second Stamp: Highlights the
official logo along with a people-centric, "humanity first" vision
for India's chairship.
·
The key
outcome of the BRICS 2026 Summit was the unanimous adoption of “New
Delhi Declaration”, outlining
key global issues ranging from trade and terrorism, to AI and institutional
reform.
·
Some
of the key initiative outlined in the declaration are Space
Sector, Health Sector, Agriculture Sector.
9. DRYLAND
CONGRESS 2026
·
The three-day Dryland Congress 2026
concluded in New Delhi, with the adoption of the ‘Delhi Declaration on
Drylands (3D)’ .
·
The
Congress was organised under the theme
“Transforming Dryland Agriculture with South–South Cooperation,”
focusing on collaborative approaches to sustainable dryland development.
·
Dryland Congress 2026
Organised by Indian Council of Agricultural Research
(ICAR) and International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid
Tropics (ICRISAT).
·
The
event also marked 50 years of the ICAR–ICRISAT partnership.
10. VIMARSH
2026: INITIATIVES FOR MSMES, START-UPS IN DEFENCE SECTOR
·
‘VIMARSH 2026’ is a Defence
Research and Development Organisation (DRDO)-
Industry Synergy Meet, held under the theme
‘Varta se Vikas’, in New Delhi.
·
A
new framework was introduced to provide direct funding,
incubation support and dedicated access to DRDO
testing facilities for MSMEs and start-ups.
· Strategic Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) were exchanged between the Society of Indian Defence Manufacturers (SIDM) and Laghu Udyog Bharati (LUB) to expand industry networks and promote participation at the grassroots level.
