RANKED 140TH IN HAPPINESS REPORT
✔According to World Happiness Report released by United
Nations, India is ranked 140th out of 156 nations.
✔For
the second consecutive year, Finland topped the list. Denmark ranked 2nd
followed by Norway, Islands and The Netherlands.
2. INTEGRAL
COACH FACTORY OF CHENNAI BECAME THE WORLD’S LARGEST RAIL COACH MANUFACTURER
✔Indian
Railways Integral Coach Factory has surpassed the top Chinese manufacturers
after creating a 40% record increase in its production and becomes the single
largest rail coach manufacturer in the world.
✔ICF
has manufactured 2,919 coaches from April 2018 to February 2019 as compared to
2,600 coaches by Chinese manufacturers.
3. SARDAR
SINGH FORMER HOCKEY CAPTAIN APPOINTED IN OLYMPIC COUNCIL OF ASIA STANDING
COMMITTEE
✔Former India hockey
captain Sardar Singh along with 13 Indian Olympic Association members, have
been named in various Standing Committees with of the Olympic Council of Asia
at its 38th General Assembly which held in Bangkok.
4. SPECIAL
OLYMPICS WORLD GAMES 2019 HELD IN ABU DHABI
✔The
15th Special Olympics World Summer Games 2019 for athletes with Intellectual
disabilities held in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
✔India
wins 368 medals at the Special Olympics World Summer Games including 85 gold,
154 silver and 129 bronze. Jitendra Pawal won a gold medal in the 200m race.
5. INDIA-PAKISTAN
WAR HERO, CAPTAIN M.N. SAMANT DIED
✔The
1971 India-Pakistan war hero, Captain M.N. Samant of the Indian Navy, passed
away at the Bharatiya Arogya Nidhi Hospital in Juhu at the age of 89 years due
to cardiac arrest.
✔He
conferred with Maha Vir Chakra for his bravery. He served as the first chief of
staff of the Bangladesh Navy and helped to set up the foundation of the
Bangladesh Navy.
6. INTERNATIONAL
DAY FOR THE ELIMINATION OF RACIAL DISCRIMINATION OBSERVED ON MARCH 21
✔The
International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination is observed
annually on 21 March to raise awareness about the negative consequences of
racial discrimination.
✔It was
observed with a theme “Mitigating and
countering rising nationalist populism and extreme supremacist ideologies”.

DAY OF FORESTS OBSERVED ON 21ST MARCH
✔International
Day of Forests 2019 was observed on 21st of March 2019 all over the world.
✔Theme
