1. INDIA SIGNS MOU WITH MYANMAR ON DEFENSE CO-OPERATION IN NEW DELHI
India signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Myanmar on defence co-operation in New Delhi after the 2 sides held talks on issues including reviewing joint exercises and training provided to Myanmar Defence Services in India, strengthening maritime security through joint surveillance and developing new infrastructure.
Myanmar is a key support of India’s Act East Policy towards prioritizing relations with its East Asian neighbors.

2. SINGAPORE TOPS ASIA IN DELL GLOBAL WOMEN ENTREPRENEUR CITIES INDEX 2019, BENGALURU TOP INDIAN CITY
According to the latest “Women Entrepreneur Cities Index 2019”, IHS Markit, Singapore tops in Asian city ranked at 21st position, while Indian cities Bengaluru(Karnataka) and Delhi were ranked 43rd (7th in Asia) and 50th (10th in Asia) respectively.
San Francisco Bay Area has topped the list followed by New York and London.
The ranking measures a city’s ability to attract and support high potential women entrepreneurs. And it is constructed using five “pillars” include market, talent, capital (all 3 under operating Environment), culture and technology (under Enabling Environment).


3. PM OF NEPAL KP OLI INAUGURATES INDIA-NEPAL LOGISTICS SUMMIT IN KATHMANDU
India-Nepal Logistics Summit inaugrated in Kathmandu, Nepal. 
The theme of the summit was “Transforming Logistics Landscape”.
Nepal and India have a significant volume of trade, investment, tourism and people-to-people movement for which smooth and quality logistics is essential.
Connectivity was the main agenda in bilateral cooperation and many initiatives were taken on crucial components of road, rail, inland waterways and air connectivity.

4. PAKISTAN OPENS HISTORIC 1,000-YEAR-OLD HINDU TEMPLE IN PUNJAB FOR WORSHIP AFTER 72 YEARS
Pakistan opened Shawala Teja Singh Temple in eastern city Sialkot for worship for the first time since partition.
According to the book ‘History of Sialkot’ by the late Rashid Niaz, the temple is 1,000-year-old. The Evacuee Trust Property Board looks after the holy places of minorities in Pakistan. . According to official estimates, 75 lakh Hindus live in Pakistan.

5. RELIANCE JIO IS INDIA’S LARGEST TELECOM COMPANY
Reliance Jio become the largest telecom company of India with 331.3 million subscribers overtaking Vodafone Idea whose customer base stood at 320 million in the quarter ended June 30, 2019.
Airtel moved to the third position and the state-owned Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited stood at the fourth position.

6. RS.1500 CRORE DEAL SIGNED BY INDIA AND RUSSIA TO ACQUIRE RUSSIA’S R-27
India has signed a deal worth around Rs 1,500 crore to acquire R-27 air-to-air missiles from Russia to be equipped on the Su-30MKI combat aircraft.
The R-27 missile is a medium-to-long-range air-to-air missile for MiG and Sukhoi series of fighter jets.

7. AFTER WEST BENGAL, ODISHA GETS GI TAG FOR ITS SWEET VERSION OF RASAGOLA
The rasagola, a popular dessert of Odisha, has received the geographical indication tag from the Registrar of Geographical Indication. The GI number 612 has been registered in favour of the Odisha Small Industries Corporation Limited.
Historical records submitted say the ‘Odisha Rasagola’ is associated with world famous Puri Jagannath Temple.

8. DD NEWS RECEIVED “CHAMPIONS OF EMPATHY AWARD” FOR SPREADING AWARENESS ABOUT HEPATITIS
DD News (Doordarshan), a 24*7 terrestrial cum satellite News Channel of India has awarded “Champions of Empathy Award” for spreading awareness about hepatitis.
Mayank Agrawal, Director General of DD News has received the Award from Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla.

9. LALJI TANDON SWORN IN AS THE GOVERNOR OF MADHYA PRADESH
He succeeds Anandiben Patel who is appointed as governor of Uttar Pradesh.
Jagdeep Dhankar sworn in as the governor of West Bengal
He succeeded Keshari Nath Tripathy.
Ramesh Bais sworn-In as the Governor of Tripura
He succeeds Kaptan Singh Solanki.

10. OVERVIEW OF PRESIDENT’S CUP BOXING TOURNAMENT 2019
The 23rd President’s Cup Boxing Tournament for the year 2019 was held in Labuan Bajo, East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia.
The Indian boxers finished their campaign with 9 medals- 7 gold and 2 silver and bagged ‘Best Team’ award.
The six-time world champion MC Mary Kom (51kg) defeated Australia’s April Franks and won gold for India.
2018 World Championships bronze winner Simranjit Kaur (60kg) also won gold by defeating Indonesia’s Asian Games bronze medallist Hasanah Huswatun.
In 54kg, Assam’s Jamuna Boro defeated Italy’s Giulia Lamagna and clinched gold.
In 48kg, Monika won gold by defeating Endang of Indonesia.
Among the men, Ankush Dahiya (64kg), Neeraj Swami (49kg) and Ananta Pralhad Chopade (52kg) won gold medals for India.

11. A 15-YEAR-OLD TAMIL NADU GIRL JERLIN ANIKA WINS GOLD MEDAL AT 2ND WORLD DEAF YOUTH BADMINTON CHAMPIONSHIPS 2019
Tamil Nadu teenager J Jerlin Anika has bagged 4 medals(1 gold,2 silver,1 bronze) in the 2nd  World Deaf Youth Badminton Championships 2019 held in Taipei, Taiwan.
She defeated Finja Rosendahl of Germany.

12. FORMER SC JUDGE AK SIKRI APPOINTED AS OMBUDSMAN OFFICER OF INDIAN FEDERATION OF SPORTS GAMING
Indian Federation of Sports Gaming has appointed former Supreme Court judge, Justice A. K. Sikri, as its ombudsman and Ethics Officer.
He will have the responsibility of investigating queries & complaints raised by the users of the online fantasy sports gaming platforms and provide strategic council, resolve disputes brought forward regarding binding rules or financial discrepancies as well as steer hearings and make announcements for smooth operation and ease of functioning.

13. JULY 30: WORLD DAY AGAINST TRAFFICKING IN PERSONS
In order to raise Awareness of the situation of victims of human trafficking and promotion and protection of their rights, the UN General Assembly designated July 30 as the World Day Against Trafficking In Persons.
The theme for 2019 is “Human Trafficking: call your government to action”

14. J&K DISTRICT ADMINISTRATION UDHAMPUR LAUNCHED HELPLINE “JEENE DO”
Under the Centrally sponsored Beti Bachao Beti Padhao scheme, Jammu and Kashmir District Administration Udhampur launched a helpline, “Jeene Do” with an objective to improve sex ratio and deal with defaulters of Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques Act 1994.

15. KARNATAKA ASSEMBLY SPEAKER K R RAMESH KUMAR STEPPED DOWN FROM HIS POST
KR Ramesh Kumar, who was a speaker for the second time in Karnataka assembly announced his resignation after the house adopted confidence motion moved by Chief Minister BS Yedayurappa.
He faced criticism over the recent fall of H.D Kumaraswamy’s govt.
