1. INDIGENOUS
MCPS PARACHUTE SYSTEM
·
The Defence Research and Development
Organisation (DRDO) successfully tested the Military
Combat Parachute System (MCPS), an indigenous
high-altitude parachute, at Nyoma-Mudh Drop Zone, Leh (Ladakh),
demonstrating safe jumps from 22,000 feet (ft) Above
Mean Sea Level (AMSL) in −15°C (Celsius) conditions for special operations
capability.
·
MCPS
offers lower descent rate, improved steering, compatibility with
Navigation with Indian Constellation (NavIC), and supports both High Altitude
Low Opening (HALO) and High Altitude High Opening (HAHO) missions.
2. PAKISTAN’S
NISHAN-E-IMTIAZ AWARD
·
Pakistan nominated
Mumbai based Parsi doctors Dr Jal Ratanji Patel (Physician)
and Dr Jal Dhaybho-Koo (Radiologist) for
the Nishan-e-Imtiaz, Pakistan’s highest civilian award, for maintaining the confidentiality of
Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s terminal illness before the Partition of India in 1947.

The Nishan-e-Imtiaz will
be awarded posthumously in March 2027.
·
In 1946, the doctors diagnosed Jinnah with
advanced tuberculosis(TB) through his X-ray and kept his illness confidential
before Partition.
·
Jinnah’s health secrecy was considered
historically significant, with potential influence on Partition of India
(1947).
·
He died on 11 September 1948.
3. MISS
UNIVERSE INDIA 2026
·
Kaziah Liz Mejo, a
19-year old law student from Kerala, won Miss Universe India 2026 in
Jaipur, Rajasthan.
·
She has
created history by becoming the first
woman from Kerala to win the Miss Universe India title.
·
After
winning this title, Kaziah Liz Mejo will now
officially represent India at the 75th Miss Universe pageant
scheduled in November 2026 in Puerto Rico.
·
Vaishnavi Ganesh from Tamil Nadu (TN) secured the Miss Universe International 2026 title
as 1st-runner up, followed by Anushri
Satavlekar from Gujarat named as the
2nd-runner up in the finale.
4. 2026
BWF WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS
·
The 30th edition
of the Badminton World Federation (BWF) World Championships(2026), was
held in New Delhi.
·
Treesa Jolly and Gayatri
Gopichand won the bronze medal
in women’s doubles, securing India’s
first medal in the category since 2011.
·
Alex Lanier of France became the first
French player to win a world
singles title by defeating Kodai Naraoka of Japan 21–11, 21–1.
·
An Se-young of South
Korea won her second women’s singles
world title by defeating Akane Yamaguchi of Japan 21–17, 21–14.
·
India
hosted the championships for the second time, after previously
staging them in Hyderabad, Telangana, in 2009.
5. KANIZSA
OPEN CHESS 2026
·
Indian Grandmaster (GM) Pranesh
M from Karaikudi, Tamil Nadu won the Kanizsa Open
2026 Group A title in Nagykanizsa, Hungary, after
defeating Germany’s Vadim Petrovskiy in the ninth
and final round.
·
Pranesh
finished jointly on 7/9 with or Bronstein of Israel, Andrei Volokitin of
Ukraine and Karthik Venkataraman of India, but secured the title on a superior
tiebreak.
6. DURAND
CUP FOOTBALL
·
East Bengal Football Club
(FC) won the 135th Durand Cup 2026 football
tournament by defeating arch-rivals Mohun Bagan
Super Giant 4–1 in the final at Vivekananda Yuba Bharati
Krirangan, Kolkata, West Bengal (WB).
·
The victory marked their first title since
2004, ending a 22-year wait and equalling the all-time record of 17 titles
in Asia’s oldest football competition.
·
The tournament is regarded as Asia’s oldest football competition and
is organised by the Durand Football Tournament Society (DFTS) in cooperation
with the All India Football Federation (AIFF) and the Indian Armed Forces.
·
The win avenged their 2023 final defeat to
Mohun Bagan, levelled both Kolkata giants at 17 titles each in the 135-year history of the tournament.
7. 2028
INDIA OPEN BADMINTON
·
Sanjay Mishra,
Secretary General, Badminton Association of India (BAI)
announced that the 2028 edition of the India
Open Badminton Tournament will be held in Guwahati, Assam.
·
The tournament will be held outside New Delhi
for the first time in recent years as a temporary relocation, with the event
scheduled to return to New Delhi in 2029.
·
BWF Established in 1934 as the
International Badminton Federation (IBF) and renamed BWF in
2006.
·
It is headquartered
in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
·
The current President is Poul-Erik Høyer
Larsen.
8. DUTCH
GRAND PRIX 2026
·
Lando Norris of
McLaren, a British racing driver, won the 36th edition
of the Dutch Grand Prix (GP) at Zandvoort,
Netherlands, overtaking championship leader Italy’s Kimi
Antonelli of Mercedes.
·
Antonelli
(Italy) of Mercedes secured second.
9. INDIA-VIETNAM
COAST GUARD EXERCISE
·
The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) in
collaboration with the Vietnam Coast Guard (VCG), hosted the 2nd edition
of India-Vietnam Joint Exercise ‘Sahyog
HOP TAC’, in Chennai, Tamil Nadu (TN), to strengthen maritime
cooperation between the two nations.

ICG: Initiated
in February 1977 and formally established in August 1978 under the Coast Guard
Act, 1978, the ICG is a maritime law enforcement and search & rescue agency
with jurisdiction over India’s territorial waters.
