1. ‘AATMA NIRBHAR BHARAT APP INNOVATION CHALLENGE’ FOR TECHIES
·        The ‘Aatma Nirbhar Bharat App Innovation Challenge’ for Indian tech entrepreneurs and startups was launched by PM Narendra Modi, with an objective to support and build Aatmanirbhar App Ecosystem.
·        Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (Meity) in partnership with Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) launched the challenge & will  regulate the challenge.
·        The app innovation challenge launched to identify the best Indian Apps that are already being used by citizens and having potential to scale and become world class.

2. ‘FIT HAI TO HIT HAI INDIA’ WEBINAR & ‘FIT INDIA TALKS’ SESSIONS
·        “Fit Hai To Hit Hai India” webinar program was launched, under the India’s flagship Fit India campaign, by the Union Minister of HRD Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ & Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs Affairs Kiren Rijiju.
·        This webinar marked the launch of ‘#FitIndiaTalks’, which will see a series of talks and interactive sessions being held by leading sports celebrities for students.
·        MHRD has set a target that by 2028 India must be in the top 10 countries at the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles.
·        In this regard, the ministry is going to start a Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS) Junior, besides the already existing TOPS senior, for grooming the potential juniors as well for the 10-12 year olds. 


3. ‘BALARAM’ TO PROVIDE RS 1,040 CRORE CREDIT TO 7 LAKH LANDLESS FARMERS
·        Government of Odisha launched 1st of its kind scheme, ‘Balaram’ to provide agricultural credit of Rs 1,040 crore to landless farmers facing hardships during COVID 19.
·        The Scheme is designed in collaboration with National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD).
·        A JLG (Joint Liability Groups) consists of five members and a group will get 1.6 lakhs. 

4. UN GLOBAL E-WASTE MONITOR 2020 REPORT
·        In accordance with “3rd edition of The Global E-waste Monitor 2020 report-Quantities, flows, and the circular economy potential” report, the world dumped a record 53.6 million tonnes of e-waste in 2019, an increase of 21% in 5 years.
·        With this e-waste becomes the world’s fastest-growing domestic waste stream. Notably, this waste is enough to form a line 125 kilometres long.
·        China is the biggest contributor to e-waste with 10.1 million tonnes (mt) followed by the United States (US) with 6.9 mt and India with 3.2 mt at 2nd and 3rd rank respectively.
·        Together these three countries accounted for nearly 38% of the world’s e-waste last year.
·        India is the only country in South Asia to draft legislation for e-waste

5. JEAN CASTEX AS NEW PRIME MINISTER OF FRANCE
·        French President Emmanuel Macron appointed a public Servant, Jean Castex as the new Prime Minister of government reshuffle, replacing Edouard  Philippe.
Jean Castex:
·        He is known for his role in drafting the strategy to lift lockdown measures in the country in the French Media.

6. MOM CAPTURED THE IMAGE OF MARS’ MOON PHOBOS
·        ISRO released the picture of the closest and biggest moon of Mars named “Phobos” which was captured by Mars Colour Camera (MCC) onboard India’s Mars Orbiter Mission (MOM).
·        The image was taken on July 1, 2020 when MOM was about 7200 km from Mars and at 4200 km from Phobos. 
·        Stickney, the largest crater on Phobos, along with the other craters (Shklovsky, Roche & Grildrig) were also visible in the image.
·        Phobos is believed to be made up of carbonaceous chondrites. 
·        The MOM mission aims at studying the Martian surface and mineral composition as well as scan its atmosphere for methane (an indicator of life on Mars).
