1.         INTEGRATED TRI-SERVICE EXERCISE ‘BHARAT SHAKTI’

·           A 50-minute-long synergised demonstration of indigenous defence capabilities in the form of a Tri-Services Live Fire and Manoeuvre Exercise ‘Bharat Shakti’ was held at Pokhran during PM Modi’s visit to Rajasthan

·           ‘Bharat Shakti’ exercise displayed an array of indigenous weapon systems and platforms to showcase India’s unprecedented excellence in global military equipment production.

 

2.         RBI RECONSTITUTES COMMITTEE OF ADVISORS OF THE ABHYUDAYA COOPERATIVE BANK

·           The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has reconstituted a three-member Committee of Advisors of Abhyudaya Cooperative Bank Limited by inducting Devendara Kumar in place of MahendraChhajed after his resignation.

·           On November 2023, RBI replaced the Board of Directors of Abhyudaya Cooperative Bank Limited for a period of 12 months and appointed Satya Prakash Pathak (former Chief General Manager of SBI) as ‘Administrator’ to manage the bank.

·           ‘Committee of Advisors’ was also constituted to assist the Administrator to discharge his duties.

·           The action against the cooperative bank was demanded due to certain material concerns, emanating from poor governance standards observed in the bank.

 

3.         CHAMELI DEVI JAIN AWARD FOR 2024

·           The Media Foundation jointly awarded the Chameli Devi Jain Award 2024 for Outstanding Woman MediaPerson of the Year to the journalists GreeshmaKuthar and Ritika Chopra..

·           The award was named after Chameli Devi Jain, a freedom fighter and community reformer, prisoned during Indian Independence movement.

·           The award was set up by the Media Foundation in 1980. And the first award was presented in 1982.

·           The award is presented annually to those practicing journalism in fields like social development, politics, gender, justice, human rights, health, conflict and consumer values.

 

4.         NEW PRESIDENT OF FIEO

·           Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO) under the Ministry of Commerce has unanimously elected Ashwani Kumar, as its New President.

·           Ashwani Kumar is a Partner at Jalandhar (Punjab) based Victor Forging, a manufacturers of Hand tools.

·           FIEO is an apex body of Government of India recognised as a Export Promotion Councils, Commodity Boards and Development Authorities in India.

·           It was established in 1965 by the Ministry of Commerce.

 

5.         WPL 2024

·           Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), led by SmritiMandhana, won the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2024 title by defeating Delhi Capitals (DC), led by Meghann(Meg) Lanning (Australia), in the final held at the ArunJaitley Stadium in New Delhi

·           It marks RCB’s first WPL title.

·           Venues: M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru, Karnataka&ArunJaitley Stadium, New Delhi, Delhi.

·           Most Valuable Player-Deepti Sharma (UP Warriorz)

·           Orange Cap-Ellyse Perry(RCB) (Australia) (347 runs)

·           Purple Cap-Shreyanka Patil (RCB) (13 wickets)

·           Tata WPL 2024 witnessed the participation of five teams including Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Gujarat Giants, UP Warriorz, and Delhi Capitals.

·           India and Brazil held their first 2 plus 2 Secretary level Political and Military Dialogue in New Delhi, Delhi.

·           Both countries discussed a variety of subjects, including defence, space, energy, critical minerals, technology, counter-terrorism, and regional, multilateral, and other issues of mutual interest.

 

7.         INDIA’S FIRST LNG-POWERED BUS

·           Maharashtra Chief Minister(CM) EknathShinde has inaugurated India’s first Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) powered bus, which will be operated by Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation(MSRTC).

·           MSRTC has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with M/s Kings Gas for the conversion of diesel buses to LNG.

 

8.         JOINT MILITARY EXERCISE ‘LAMITIYE-2024’ IN SEYCHELLES

·           The Indian Army (IA) contingent ‘Gorkha Rifles’ embarked for Seychelles to participate in the 10th Joint Military Exercise “LAMITIYE-2024” between IA and Seychelles Defence Forces (SDF).

·           The exercise, meaning ‘Friendship’ in Creole,held in March 2024.

·           This exercise is a biennial event being held in Seychelles since 2001.

9.         VLADIMIR PUTIN WON 5TH TERM AS THE PRESIDENT OF RUSSIA

·           Russian President Vladimir Putin (71 years old) has secured a record fifth term as President of Russia by winning the 2024 Presidential elections.

·           He secured around 88%(87.97%) of the total votes.

·           With this new 6-year term, Putin becomes the longest-serving Russian or Soviet leader in history since Joseph Stalin and the longest-reigning president in post-Soviet Russia.

·           Joseph Stalin served as leader of the Soviet Union from 1924 until his death in 1953.
Time magazine named Vladimir Putin as TIME’s Person of the Year in 2007.

 

10.      INTERNATIONAL DAY OF HAPPINESS 2024 – MARCH 20

·           The United Nations (UNInternational Day of Happiness is annually observed across the globe on 20 March to recognise the significance of well-being and happiness in people’s lives globally

·           The theme of International Day of Happiness 2024 is ‘Happier Together.’

·           According to the World Happiness Report (WHR) 2024, Finland has been named the World’s happiest country for the 7th consecutive time. Finland is followed by Denmark, Iceland, Sweden and Israel.

·           India has maintained its rank at 126th (out of 146 countries), which indicates low levels of happiness.

 

11.      UN FRENCH LANGUAGE DAY 2024 – MARCH 20

·           The United Nations (UNFrench Language Day is annually observed across the globe on 20 March to celebrate multilingualism and cultural diversity, and to promote equal use of all 6 official languages of the UN throughout the Organisation.

·           In 2024, the OIF marks the celebrations of the International Day of La Francophonie under the theme “Create, innovate, undertake in French.”

·           The UN observes 6 Language days annually dedicated to the 6 official languages of the UN namely, Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian, and Spanish.

 

12.      WORLD ORAL HEALTH DAY 2024 – MARCH 20

·           World Oral Health Day(WOHD) is annually observed across the globe on 20th March to create awareness about the importance of oral health and to support the efforts to reduce the burden of oral diseases on individuals, health systems and economies.

·           The WOHD Campaign theme for 2024-2026 is “A Happy Mouth is… A Happy Body”.World Dental Federation(FDI):
