1.       BWF PRESIDENT

·         Khunying Patama Leeswad trakul of Thailand was elected as the new President of the Badminton World Federation (BWF) for the 2025-2029 term at the 86th BWF Annual General Meeting (AGM) held in Xiamen, China.

·         With this, Leeswad trakul becomes the second woman to serve as president

·         The 87th BWF AGM is scheduled to be held in April or May 2026 in Horsens, Denmark.

·         Etienne Thobois of France, was confirmed as the Deputy President-elect of BWF.

·         The 2028 Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games will be held in Los Angeles, USA.

·         BWF Headquarters: Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

 

2.       COUNTRY MD OF YOUTUBE INDIA

·         YouTube, a subsidiary of the USA based Alphabet Inc., appointed Gunjan Soni as the Country Managing Director (MD) for YouTube India.

·         She succeeded Ishan Chatterjee

 


3.       PM OF TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO

·         Kamla Susheila Persad-Bissessar leader of the United National Congress (UNC), was elected as the 9th Prime Minister (PM) of Trinidad and Tobago 

·         She succeeded the incumbent PM, Stuart Richard Young of the People’s National Movement (PNM)

·         She served as the 6th PM of Trinidad and Tobago from May 26, 2010, to September 9, 2015, and remains the nation’s first and only female PM.

·         In 2012, the Government of India (GoI) honoured her with the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman (Overseas Indian Award), the highest Indian award for Overseas Indians, for her contributions to public service.

4.       CANADA PRIME MINISTER

·         The Liberal Party, led by Canada Prime Minister (PM), Mark Carney won Canada’s federal election against Pierre Poilievre, leader of the Conservative Party.

·         Mark Carney, sworn in as the first unelected PM of Canada in March 2025 after the resignation of former PM Justin Trudeau.

·         He was the 24th Prime Minister of Canada.

·         He worked as governor of the Bank of Canada  and Bank of England (2013-2020)

 

5.       INDIA’S 107th NATIONAL PARK

·         Similipal Tiger Reserve (TR) located in Mayurbhanj district in Orissa as a National Park (NP) has become India’s 107th National Park (NP)

·         This newly declared NP is now the largest NP in Odisha

 

6.       INDIA LAUNCHES FIRST INDIGENOUS HPV TEST KITS FOR CERVICAL CANCER SCREENING

·         Union Minister of state Jitendra Singh Minister of State for Science and Technologylaunched its first Made-in-India Human Papilloma Virus (HPVtest kits for cervical cancer screening.

·         The two kits are Truenat HPV-HR Plus by Goa-based Molbio Diagnostics and Patho Detect by Punebased Mylab Discovery Solutions.

·         According to WHO, 1 out of every 5 women globally suffering from cervical cancer is Indian, and 25% of global cervical cancer deaths occur in India.

 

7.       1ST INDIAN COMPANY TO CROSS RS.10 LAKH CRORE IN TOTAL EQUITY

·         Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) reported record annual consolidated revenues of Rs.1,071,174 crore (approximately USD 125.3 billion) for the fiscal year 2024–25(FY25), marking a 7.1% year-on-year(YoY) increase.

·         With this, RIL achieved a significant milestone by becoming the first Indian company to surpass Rs.10 lakh crore in total equity .

 

8.       INTER MINISTERIAL COMMITTEE TO FRAME NMM

·         The Government of India(Go) has set up an inter-ministerial committee to design the broad frame of the proposed National Manufacturing Mission (NMM)

·         The committee will be led by BVR Subrahmanyam, Chief Executive Officer(CEO) of NITI (National Institution for Transforming India) Aayog

·         NMM initiative was announced in the Union Budget of 2025-26, aims to bolster the Make in India program and enhance India’s manufacturing sector.

 

9.       UNDP JOINED GLOBAL NETWORK TO HELP COUNTRIES COPE WITH CLIMATE CHANGE

·         New York based United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) joined the Santiago Network, an international initiative developed specifically to supporting vulnerable countries and communities in tackling the irreversible impacts of loss and damage caused by the climate change.

·         The Santiago Network was established in 2019, which aimed to bring together organizations, networks, and experts to provide the implementation of solutions that avert, minimize and address loss & damage due to climate change.

 

10.    GREEN AIRPORTS RECOGNITION (GAR) 2025 

·         Hong Kong based Airports Council International Asia-Pacific &Middle East (ACI APAC & MIDannounced the winners of the ninth Green Airports Recognition (GAR) 2025 during its Regional Assembly in New Delhi

·         Three Indian airports  Hubballi Airport (HBX) (Karnataka) received the Platinum award in the category of airports handling less than 6 million passengers annually, Kempegowda International Airport  (Bengaluru), and Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL) (Kochi, Kerala), which were also awarded.

·         In ACI Safety category Kempegowda International Airport received Gold Award
