INDIAN -SRI LANKA NAVY MARITIME EXERCISE
·
The 12th edition
of the annual Indian Navy (IN)–Sri Lanka Navy (SLN)
bilateral maritime exercise ‘Sri Lanka–India Exercise’ (SLINEX 2025)
was conducted in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
·
The exercise is being conducted in two
phases: The Harbour Phase followed by the Sea
Phase.
2.
VIKRAM-1 ROCKET’S KALAM-1200
·
Skyroot Aerospace Private Limited (SAPL) successfully
conducted the first static test of KALAM-1200 solid
rocket motor, the first stage of the
Vikram-1 Launch Vehicle (LV), at the Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC) in
Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh (AP).
·
The test marks a significant step in the
development of Vikram-1, built by Skyroot Aerospace.
·
KALAM-1200 is an 11 metre (m) long,
1.7 m diameter monolithic composite motor, carrying Propellant Mass of 30
tonnes.
·
Vikram 1 is the first
orbital-class LV, built by Skyroot Aerospace, an Indian private aerospace
manufacturer.
·
It is a 3-stage solid propulsion LV designed
to be a small satellite launcher, offering fast and on-demand access to Low
Earth Orbit (LEO), scheduled to be launched in 2025.
3.
INDIAN NAVY RECEIVED THE 3RD SVL SHIP ‘IKSHAK’
·
The Indian Navy (IN) received ‘Indian
Naval Ship(INS) Ikshak (Guide) (Yard
3027)’, the 3rd in a series of 4 Survey Vessel (Large) (SVL) ships,
built by Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Limited (GRSE), a
defence Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) under the Ministry of Defence (MoD), in
Kolkata, West Bengal(WB).
·
The contract for 4 SVLs was signed in
2018.
·
The 1st ship of the class, INS Sandhayak,
was commissioned in February 2024, followed by INS Nirdeshak in December 2024.
·
Ikshak is the first SVL
Ship to be delivered with accommodation for women officers and
sailors.
·
With a displacement of about 3,400
tons and an overall length of 110 meters (m),
Ikshak is fitted with state-of-the-art hydrographic equipment.
4.
WORLD ATHLETICS CONTINENTAL TOUR
·
The Indian Open World
Athletics Continental Tour Bronze Meet 2025, organized at the Kalinga
Stadium, Bhubaneswar, Odisha, marked India’s first-ever hosting of a World
Athletics Continental Tour Bronze-level
(Category C) event.
·
The one-day meet featured
over 150 athletes from 17 countries
competing in 19 events, with a total
prize purse of USD 25,000.
·
17-year-old Shahnavaz Khan
(Uttar Pradesh) produced a historic performance in the Men’s
Long Jump, leaping 8.04 metres to clinch
the silver medal.
·
Men’s Javelin Throw: RumeshTharanga
(Sri Lanka) recorded 86.50m, surpassing the
World Athletics automatic qualification mark of 85.50m for major championships.
5.
WORLD GAMES 2025
·
Rishabh Yadav, won the bronze
medal in the Men’s Individual Compound Archery at
the World Games 2025, held in Chengdu, China.
·
This marked India’s
first-ever individual archery medal and the sixth
overall medal at the World Games.
·
The World Games,
held every four years since 1981,
feature non-Olympic sports.
·
This year, India is competing in Archery,
Billiards, Roller Skating, Wushu, and Racquetball.
6.
AFC ASIAN CUP 2026
·
India’s U-20 women’s football team qualified
for Asian Football Confederation (AFC) U-20 Women’s Asian Cup
2026 by defeating Myanmar
1-0 in their final Group-D qualifying match held at the Thuwunna Stadium in
Yangon, Myanmar.
·
With this, India qualified for the AFC U-20 football tournament for the 1st time in 20 years.
·
Thailand
will
host The AFC U-20 Asian Cup 2026.
·
It will feature an expanded 12-team format
and act as a qualifier for the International Federation of Association
Football(FIFA)U-20 Women’s World Cup.
7.
ASIAN SURFING CHAMPIONSHIPS 2025
·
The Asian Surfing
Championships (ASC) 2025, held in
Mahabalipuram, Tamil
Nadu, marking India’s debut as host.
·
The event served as the final
qualification event for the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan.
·
The ASC 2025 featured over 150 surfers from 20 countries in
4 categories (Open Men/Women, U-18 Boys/Girls).
·
In Open Men’s final, Ramesh Budihal finished third by winning the bronze medal, behind Kanoa
Heejae (South Korea, 15.17 points) and Pajar Ariyana (Indonesia, 14.57
points).
·
The Indian women’s team scored 1200
points, finishing eighth in standings, topped by Japan (1860 points),
Indonesia (1670), and Thailand (1608).
8.
INDIA’S 89TH CHESS GRANDMASTER
·
S. Rohith Krishna, an engineering student
from Chennai (Tamil Nadu), earned his final Grandmaster (GM) norm and achieved
an International Chess Federation (FIDE) rating of 2516 (as
of July 2025), officially became India’s 89th chess
GM and the 85th male player to achieve this title.
·
He achieved his final GM norm at the Almaty Masters Qonaev Cup in Kazakhstan,
scoring 6 points out of 9 and crossing the 2500 Elo rating mark.
·
In the last round, he defeated Armenian
International Master ArturDavtyan to secure the GM title.
·
He previously earned the International
Master (IM) title in 2022.
·
Person must achieve a FIDE rating of
at least 2500 at any point for Chess Grandmaster Qualification.
9.
1ST KHELO INDIA WATER SPORTS FESTIVAL
·
Satish Sharma, Minister of Youth
Services & Sports of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, unveiled the
official mascot, logo, anthem, jingle, and jerseys for
the inaugural Khelo India Water Sports Festival (KIWSF 2025)
at an event in Srinagar, J&K.
·
The KIWSF 2025 was
scheduled to be held at Dal Lake in Srinagar.
·
Mascot: The colourful Himalayan Kingfisher mascot features bold orange and blue
colours.
·
The KIWSF 2025 Logo features a Shikara gliding
on Dal Lake, with snow-capped mountains and pine trees.
·
The KIWSF 2025 will feature rowing, canoeing, and kayaking as medal
events.
·
The demonstration
events will be water skiing, shikara race, and dragon boat race.
10.
INTERNATIONAL ARCHITECTURAL AWARD 2025
·
Terminal 2 (T2) of
the Lokpriya GopinathBordoloi International Airport (also known as Guwahati International Airport)
in Guwahati (Assam) won the International Architectural
Award 2025 in the Transport Category.
·
The award is conferred by The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum Architecture and Design,
in collaboration with The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban
Studies, and Metropolitan Arts Press Limited.
11.
RBI IMPOSES RS. 75 LAKH MONETARY PENALTY ON ICICI BANK
·
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has
imposed a monetary penalty of Rs. 75 lakhs on
Mumbai (Maharashtra)-based ICICI Bank Limited for breaching regulatory guidelines.
·
The violations were related to Valuation
of Properties – Empanelment of Valuers: Failure to conduct property
valuations through independent RBI-approved valuers for
certain mortgage loans.
·
Opening of Current Accounts by Banks – Need for Discipline:
Opening or maintaining current accounts in breach of RBI’s regulatory
restrictions.
12.
SINGLE-WINDOW GATEWAY FOR TRUSTED FOREIGN INVESTORS
·
The Securities Exchange Board of India
(SEBI) has proposed a single-window
gateway called SWAGAT-FI to ease regulatory process
for Foreign Portfolio Investors (FPIs).
·
The Sebi’s Single Window Automatic &
Generalised Access for Trusted Foreign
Investors (SWAGAT-FI) aims to offer a unified, streamlined and consistent
access mechanism for certain categories
of FI that are verified as low-risk category.
·
Currently,
the KYC of FPIs are reviewed every year or three years based on the risk categorisation, while FVCI, are reviewed every year/5
years.
·
Now, it is proposed to increase the periodicity for continuance of
registration and review of KYC of SWAGAT-FIs to 10 years.
·
Increased participation of NRIs/OCI/RI: Currently,
aggregate contribution from non-resident Indian (NRI), Overseas Citizen of
India (OCI) and Resident Indian individuals (RI) in an FPI is capped at 50% of
the total corpus of the FPI.
·
Now, it has proposed that restrictions on these contributions from NRIs, OCIs and
RIs will be removed for eligible SWAGAT-FI funds,
particularly benefiting mutual funds (MFs) with diversified retail bases.
·
It is proposed to permit SWAGAT-FIs to use a single demat account
for holding all securities acquired as FPI or FVCI or as foreign investor
investing in units of investment vehicles, on an optional basis.
13.
INDIA’S FIRST MISCELLANEOUS NBFC TO CROSS RS 1 LAKH CRORE BUSINESS
TURNOVER

Kerala State Financial Enterprises (KSFE),
headquartered in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, became the first miscellaneous non-banking financial company
(NBFC) in India to surpass a business turnover of Rs 1 lakh
crore, doubling its business from Rs 50,000 crore within four
years.
·
KSFE’s
achievement sets a new standard for India’s
miscellaneous NBFC sector, highlighting its strong growth, financial stability,
and important role in Kerala’s and India’s financial system.
