BALTOPS

Brusells
(Belgium) based North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) launched
its 53rd edition of NATO’s premier multinational maritime-focused
exercise Baltic Operations 2025 (BALTOPS 25)
in Latvia.

The drill
involves 16 NATO member states.

IN CONDUCTS PASSEXEXERCISE

The
Indian Navy(IN) participated in a Passage Exercise (PASSEX) with
the United Kingdom’s (UK) Carrier Strike Group (CSG)
in the North Arabian Sea.
·
The
exercise demonstrated the advanced
combat readiness of both navies and strengthened strategic naval
cooperation beyond regular joint drills.

Magnus Carlsen (Norway) won his 7th Norway Chess title

PIYUSH CHAWLA ANNOUNCES
RETIREMENT
·
Indian
leg spinner Piyush Pramod Chawla, has announced
his retirement from all formats of professional cricket.
·
He was
part of the World Cup Winning Squad twice, including the 2007 International
Cricket Council (ICC) Twenty 20 (T20) Men’s World
Cup and 2011 One Day
International (ODI) Men’s World Cup.
·
He
remains as India’s second youngest male debutant in the format after Sachin
Tendulkar, who debuted at when he was 16 years and 205 days.

badminton player Anders Antonsen (World No.3)

No.1) defeated China’s Wang Zhiyi (World No.2) to clinch her second Indonesia

The 2025 Taiwan

Gold, 3 silver, and 1 bronze.

Australia and South Korea finished

UEFA NATIONS LEAGUE FOOTBALL
·
Portugal clinched their second Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) Nations
League title by defeating Spain 5-3 in a penalty
shootout in Munich, Germany.
·
With this
win, Portugal became the first nation to win the UEFA Nations League title
twice since its inception in 2018–19.
·
Cristiano
Ronaldo, aged over 40 years, became
the oldest playerto score in a
Nations League final, surpassing Luka Modric (37 years) from the 2023 edition.

Nicholas Pooran, a prominent West Indies white-ball
player, announced his retirement from international cricket at the age
of 29.

RBI’S 2ND BI-MONTHLY
MONETARY POLICY
·
The
Reserve Bank of India conducted the 55th
and 2nd Bi-monthly Monetary Policy Meeting (MPC) of
Financial Year (FY) 2025-26 from June 4 to 6, 2025 under the chairmanship
of Shri Sanjay Malhotra, Governor, Reserve Bank of India
(RBI).
·
The
committee has projected the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) for Financial Year
2025-26 (FY26) to be 6.5%.

SBI DIVIDEND
TO GOI FOR FY25
·
State
Bank of India (SBI) paid a dividend of Rs.
8,076.84 Crore to the Government of India(GoI) for the Financial
Year 2024-2025(FY25).
·
SBI
declared a dividend of Rs 15.90 per share for FY25.
·
GoI,
which holds a 57.43% stake in SBI, is the primary beneficiary of this payout.
·
SBI
reported a record net profit of Rs. 70,901 crore for the full FY25, registering
a 16% increase over the Rs. 61,077 crore earned in FY24.
·
Net
Interest Income (NII) for the quarter rose to Rs. 42,774.63 crore, marking a
2.7% increase, while the net interest margin stood at 3%.
·

typically in cash or sometimes as additional shares, as a reward for their
investment.

RBI DISCONTINUED DAILY VRR
AUCTIONS
·
The
Reserve Bank of India (RBI) discontinued its daily Variable Rate Repo (VRR)
auctions due to a liquidity surplus of Rs. 2.75 to
Rs. 3 lakh crore in the banking system, exceeding 1% of Net Demand and Time Liabilities (NDTL), effective
from 11 June 2025.
·
The RBI
recently reduced the Cash Reserve Ratio (CRR) by 100 basis points (bps) to 3%,
a move expected to inject around Rs. 2.5 lakh crore of primary liquidity into
the banking system in phases by end-November 2025.
·
The Daily VRR Auction is a short-term
liquidity management tool introduced by the RBI in January 2025 to
address temporary liquidity tightness in the banking system, primarily due
to tax outflows and foreign exchange market interventions.

The first-ever United
Nations (UN)s International Day for Dialogue among
Civilizations was globally observed on 10 June 2025 to
raise awareness about intercultural understanding, mutual respect, and global
solidarity in an increasingly divided and crisis-prone world.
·
UNESCO, in collaboration with the Permanent
Delegation of the People’s Republic of China to UNESCO, hosted a symposium
titled “Youth Dialogue on the Future along the Silk Roads”
on 5 June 2025 at the UNESCO Headquarters in Paris,
France.

WORLD DAY AGAINST CHILD
LABOUR 2025 – JUNE 12

The
United Nations (UN’s) World Day against Child Labour (WDACL) is
observed annually across the globe on June 12 to
raise awareness about child labour and mobilize efforts for its elimination.
·
The theme for WDACL 2025 is “Progress is clear, but
there’s more to do: let’s speed up efforts!”.
