1. TIME100
WORLD’S MOST INFLUENTIAL PEOPLE IN AI

New York
(USA)-based TIME, global media brand, released its third
annual TIME100 AI list, recognising the 100 most
influential individuals in the Artificial Intelligence (AI) landscape around
the world.
·
The list
highlights Innovators, Leaders, Shapers,
and Thinkers shaping AI’s future.
·
Indian-origin Ravi Kumar
Singisetti, the
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Cognizant
Technology Solutions Corporation, a Teaneck, New Jersey (USA)-based
Information Technology (IT) Company, has been named to the 2025 TIME 100 AI
list (under Leaders).
2. RAMON
MAGSAYSAY AWARD 2025
·
The
Indian Non-Profit Organisation (NPO) Foundation to Educate Girls Globally (FEGG), popularly
known as Educate Girls, was
announced as one of the recipients of the 67th Ramon Magsaysay
Award, becoming the first Indian organisation
to receive this prestigious honour.
·
Educate
Girls was founded in 2007 by Safeena Husain in
Rajasthan.
·
The other
2025 winners were Shaahina Ali from the Maldives for her environmental work
and Flaviano Antonio L. Villanueva from the Philippines for his efforts to uplift the
poor and marginalised.
3. INDIA,
THAILAND JOINT MILITARY EXERCISE ‘MAITREE 2025’
·
The 14th edition
of the “Exercise Maitree”, a joint annual military exercise
between the Indian Army (IA) and the Royal Thai
Army (RTA) has begun at the Foreign Training Node
(FTN) in Umroi, Meghalaya.
·
The
exercise is designed to enhance the operational capabilities of IA and RTA.
4. INDIA–USA
JOINT MILITARY EXERCISE ‘YUDH ABHYAS 2025’
·
The 21st edition
of the India–USA joint military exercise “Yudh
Abhyas (YA-2025)” commenced at Fort Wainwright, Alaska, the USA.
·
Yudh Abhyas is an annual bilateral military
exercise conducted between
the armies of India and the USA, which
was first initiated in 2004.
·
The Yudh
Abhyas exercise is held alternately
between India and the USA.
5. BOOK
‘MOTHER MARY COMES TO ME’
·
Arundhati Roy, an Indian author and activist, released her
first Memoir titled “Mother Mary Comes to Me” in
Kochi, Kerala.
·
Her
second novel ‘The Ministry of Utmost Happiness (2017)’ was longlisted for the
Booker Prize.
·
Her other
works include The Algebra of Infinite
Justice, War Talk, Listening to Grasshoppers, and Azadi.
26. RBI
IMPOSES MONETARY PENALTY ON BANDHAN BANK
·
The
Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has imposed a monetary penalty
of Rs.44.70 lakh on Bandhan Bank
Limited in August 2025 due to non-compliance with certain statutory and regulatory directions
issued by RBI.
·
Bandhan
Bank has paid remuneration to certain
employees in the form of commission, violating RBI norms.
·
The bank has carried out manual
intervention at the back end for data of certain accounts and failed to
record the audit trails or logs of access with specific user details in the
system.
27. NATIONAL
NUTRITION WEEK 2025 – SEPTEMBER 1-7
·
National
Nutrition Week (NNW) is observed across India every
year from 1st to 7th September as an important
annual event to promote awareness about nutrition.
·
2025 Theme: “Eat Right for a Better Life.”
·
The idea of NNW was first introduced by the American
Dietetic Association (now the Academy of Nutrition and
Dietetics) in 1975.
·
The
observance in India was initiated in 1982 by the
Food and Nutrition Board(FNB), Ministry of Women & Child
Development(MoWCD).
·
The FNB was established in 1964 and was later dissolved in 2018, with its
functions integrated into other government nutrition programmes.
28. ADB
APPROVES USD 125 MILLION LOAN FOR ASSAM
·
The Asian
Development Bank (ADB) has approved a USD
125 million loan under the Assam Urban Sector Development Project (AUSDP) to transform urban infrastructure and strengthen climate resilience
in Assam.
·
The
project covers six district headquarters: Barpeta, Bongaigaon, Dhubri,
Goalpara, Golaghat, Nalbari and Guwahati, the state capital of Assam.
·

29. SEBI
REVISED RULES FOR INTRADAY INDEX OPTIONS
·
The
Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has
introduced a revised framework to monitor intraday trading
positions in index options, aimed to enhance transparency and
strengthen risk management in the derivative markets.
·
As per
SEBI’s circular, the new rules for intraday monitoring norms will come into
effect on October 01, 2025, while the penalty provisions
related to expiry-day breaches will be effective from December 06,
2025.
·
As per
SEBI new rules, the intraday net
positions (after offsetting longs and shorts), calculated in terms of Future-Equivalent
(FutEq) basis, have been capped at Rs 5,000 crore per
entity in index options.
·
The gross intraday position has been capped at Rs
10,000 crore per entity, in line with the current end-of-day
gross limit.
·
SEBI has
directed all stock exchanges in India, to conduct minimum 4 random checks of traders’ positions
during the trading session.
·
They are
also required to undertake one of these snapshots between 2:45 pm
to 3:30 pm; a period when trading activity typically peaks.
·
Also, the
position value will be determined using
the index price at the time of the snapshot.
·
Market Infrastructure Institutions (MIIs), including stock exchanges and clearing
corporations, have been directed to publish a Standard Operating Procedure
(SOP) for market participants.
·
They are
also required to submit this SOP to SEBI within 15 days and
communicated to market participants before the new framework is enforced.
·

apex market regulatory body in India, was initially established as a non-statutory body on April 12, 1988 through a resolution
of the Government of India (GoI) and was later, granted the ‘statutory body’ status in 1992.

30. UPI
TRANSACTIONS CROSSED 20 BILLION FOR FIRST TIME
·
The
Department of Financial Services (DFS), Ministry of Finance
(MoF) and National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI)
announced that India’s Unified Payments Interface (UPI)
operated by NPCI crossed 20 billion monthly
transactions for the first time in August 2025.
·
Transaction
value increased 21% YoY, from Rs 20.60 lakh crore in August 2024 to Rs
24.85 lakh crore in August 2025.
31. NPCI
RAISED PER-UPI TRANSACTION LIMIT TO RS 5 LAKH
·
The
National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) increased
the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) transaction limit to Rs
5 lakh, only for those categories that align with tax
payments.
·
In
addition to that, NPCI has raised the
per-transaction limit and aggregate transaction limit for 24 hours
(hrs) to Rs 10 lakh, for 12 other categories.
·
As per
NPCI’s directions, all banks, applications (apps), and Payment Service
Providers (PSPs) are required to implement these enhanced limits from September
15, 2025.
·
However, NPCI has clarified that Person-to-Person
(P2P) transaction limits will remain same i.e. at Rs 1 lakh per day.
·
NPCI is an apex body that regulates the retail payment and
settlement system in India.
·
It was
launched as a joint initiative of Reserve
Bank of India (RBI) and India Banks’
Association (IBA).
·
It was
set up under the provisions of Payment and Settlement Systems (PSS Act, 2007).

COCONUT DAY 2025 – SEPTEMBER 2
·
World Coconut Day is observed every year on September
2 to highlight the importance of coconuts in agriculture,

World
Coconut Day is initiated by the Asian

·
National Teachers’ Day is observed annually across India
on 5 September to honours teachers for their
dedication, hard work, and invaluable contribution to education and society.
·
The day
mark the birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan 1st Vice-President and 2nd President of India.

FASHION DESIGNER GIORGIO ARMANI PASSED AWAY
·
The
Legendary Italian fashion designer and billionaire Giorgio Armani passed
away at the age of 91 in Milan, Italy.
·
Armani was
widely referred to as ‘Re Giorgio’ or
‘King Giorgio’ for his modern style and elegance.
·
In 1975,
he founded the luxury fashion brand ‘Armani’ in Milan, Italy, with his partner
Sergio Galeotti.
·
Armani
was appointed Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations (UN) High Commissioner
for the Refugees, in 2002 because of his support for public awareness and
fundraising efforts for refugees during the Afghan refugee crisis.
