7TH NSA-LEVEL MEETING OF COLOMBO
SECURITY CONCLAVE
·
India hosted the 7th National
Security Adviser (NSA)-level meeting of the Colombo
Security Conclave (CSC) in New Delhi, chaired by Ajit Doval, NSA
of India.
·
The initiative began in 2011 as the Trilateral Maritime
Security Dialogue among India, Sri Lanka, and the Maldives.
·
The 6th NSA-level meeting took place in Mauritius in December
2023.
·
Member Countries: India, Maldives, Sri Lanka, Mauritius
(2022), Bangladesh (2024), Seychelles
(newly added in 2025)
·
The CSC aims to deepen
cooperation and strengthen collective security among Indian Ocean countries,
particularly in addressing key security concerns and non-traditional threats.
·
Malaysia participated in the CSC meeting 2025 for the first time as a Guest.
2.
HELPLINE ‘14490’ FOR WOMEN IN DISTRESS
·
The National Commission for Women (NCW) launched
a new 24×7 short-code helpline ‘14490’ to
provide faster, easier and more
accessible assistance to women facing violence, harassment, cybercrimes or
any form of distress across India.
·
The toll-free 14490 is designed as
a simplified, easy-to-remember short code and is directly linked to NCW’s
existing national helpline 7827170170, ensuring
uninterrupted service delivery.
3.
GOI DESIGNATES CISF AS NEW SECURITY REGULATOR FOR
INDIAN SEA PORTS
·
The Government of India(GoI) has designated the Central
Industrial Security Force (CISF) as the new
nodal safety and security regulator for nearly 250 major and minor seaports across
India.
·
The CISF has been designated as a Recognised Security
Organisation (RSO) for seaports, functioning as the
regulator to oversee and ensure their security.
·
The CISF will conduct
security assessments, prepare plans, and handle core security duties at
seaports.
·
CISF will handle counter-terrorism,
anti-sabotage, EXIM(Export-Import) terminal security, and surveillance of
critical port assets, ensuring uniform security across government and private
ports.
4.
COMMEMORATIVE POSTAL COVER TO HONOUR DR.
RAMDAS PAI
·
India Post released a commemorative postal cover to
honour Dr. RamdasMadhavaPai, Chancellor, Manipal Academy of Higher Studies (MAHE),
on his 90th birthday at the 33rd Convocation of MAHE in Manipal, Karnataka, for his lifelong
contributions in education, healthcare, and community development.
5.
RS. 7,280 CRORE SCHEME TO
PROMOTE MANUFACTURING OF SINTERED REPM
·
The Union Cabinet approved the ‘Scheme
to Promote Manufacturing of Sintered Rare Earth Permanent Magnets (REPM)’ with
a financial outlay of Rs 7,280 crores (cr).
·
The scheme aims to establish 6,000
Metric Tons per Annum (MTPA) of integrated REPM manufacturing in
India, covering the full value chain from rare earth oxides to metals,
metals to alloys, and alloys to finished REPMs.
·
This scheme is implemented by the Ministry of Heavy
Industries (MHI).
·
The total duration of the scheme will be 7 years from
the date of award.
6.
FIRST ADVANCED ESTIMATES
OF KHARIF CROP PRODUCTION FOR 2025-26
·
Union Minister Shivraj
Singh Chouhan, Ministry of Agriculture
and Farmers Welfare(MoAFW), released the ‘first advanced estimates of
kharif crop production for 2025-26’, projecting the total Khariffoodgrain output to rise by
3.87 million tonnes(MT),
reaching approximately 173.33 MT compared to the previous
year.
·
India’s rice production during
the 2025-26 kharif season that ended in October 2025 reached a record 124.504
MT.
·
The kharifmaize production is estimated at 28.303 MT.
·
Kharif
coarse cereals production at 41.414 MT.
·
Kharif
pulses production at 7.413 MT.
·
Production of tur (arhar) is estimated at
3.597 MT, uradat 1.205 MT, and moong at 1.720 MT.
·
The total Kharif oilseed production in the country is
estimated at 27.563 MT for 2025-26.
·
This includes peanut (groundnut) production at 11.093
MT, which is 0.681 MT more than last year, and soybean production estimated at 14.266 MT.
·
Sugarcane
production is estimated at 475.614 MT, showing
an increase of 21.003 MT compared to last year.
·
Cotton
production is estimated at 29.215 million (mn) bales (each bale
weighing 170 kilogram(kg)), and production of
Patson and Mesta is estimated at 8.345 mn bales.
7.
NAYI CHETNA 4.0 CAMPAIGN
·
Union Minister Shivraj
Singh Chouhan, Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare (MoAFW),
Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD), and Union Minister Annapurna Devi,
Ministry of Women & Child Development (MoWCD), launched the fourth edition
of the “Nayi Chetna-Initiative for Change”, a nationwide
campaign, in New Delhi.
·
The campaign focuses on gender equality and empowering women,
especially in rural areas.
·
The campaign is organized under DeendayalAntyodayaYojana – National
Rural Livelihood Mission (DAY-NRLM), under
MoRD, and will run in all 36 States and Union Territories (UTs) till
December 23, 2025.
·
The campaign is led by Self Help Groups (SHGs) across the
villages.
·
The initiative aims to promote respect, safety, and self-reliance for
women, raise awareness against gender-based violence, encourage safe
mobility for women, recognize women’s economic contributions, and promote
shared responsibilities in families.
·
The initiative is aimed at
promoting SHG enterprises, Credit access,
Skill development, and “LakhpatiDidi” model to increase women’s income.
·
Lakhpati Didi is an
initiative by the Government of India
(GOI) under the DAY-NRLM to help rural women earn at least Rs.1 lakh per year by strengthening their
livelihoods and improving income opportunities.
·
NayiChetna-Initiative
for Change campaign focuses on ending Gender-Based Violence (GBV),
ensuring women’s safety and dignity, promoting gender equality, and
strengthening women empowerment across India.
·
It was first launched in 2022.
8.
INDIA’S FIRST GLOBAL MRO FACILITY
OF SAFRAN ‘SAESI’ IN HYDERABAD
·
Prime Minister Narendra
Modi virtually inaugurated Safran
Aircraft Engine Services India (SAESI) facility, India’s
first global aircraft engine Maintenance, Repair, Overhaul (MRO) facility
built by France based Safran S.A, at
the GMR Aerospace & Industrial Park - Special Economic Zone (SEZ) at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport(RGIA),
in Hyderabad, Telangana.
·
He also virtually inaugurated
the Infinity Campus of Skyroot
Aerospace Private Limited and unveiled Vikram-I, India’s first developed orbital rocket.
·
SAESI, spanning 45,000 square
metres (sq. m) is a modern MRO centre dedicated to servicing Leading Edge
Aviation Propulsion (LEAP) engines, which power aircraft such as Airbus A320neo
family and Boeing 737 MAX.
·
Vikram-I
Rocket, an orbital-class rocket, is approximately 20 metres (m) tall with a
diameter of 1.7 (m) and designed to carry a payload of
approximately 300-350 Kilogram (kg) to Low Earth Orbit (LEO).
·
Its maiden flight is expected in 2026.
·
The Vikram series, named after
Dr.Vikram Sarabhai, the father of the Indian Space Programme, is being
developed to tap into the rapidly
growing multi-million-dollar smallsatellite launch market.
