1.     BOOK ‘THE GREAT SANCTIONS HACK’

·       Former Reserve Bank of India(RBI) Governor Urjit Patel, who is currently serving India’s Executive Director (ED) at the International Monetary Fund (IMF), released its latest book titled ‘The Great Sanctions Hack’.

·       The book was published by Rupa Publications India.

 


2.     BOOK ‘ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT OF BHARAT IN THE MODI ERA’

·       Vice President (VP) of India C.P. Radhakrishnan released a book titled “Economic Empowerment of Bharat in the Modi Era”, authored by Professor Dr. Sikander Kumar, Member of Parliament (MP).

·       The book includes policy reforms such as Insolvency laws, Digital governance and transparent banking systems, Jan Dhan-Aadhaar-Mobile (JAM) connectivity, Goods and Services Tax (GST).

 

3.     INTERNATIONAL HUMAN SOLIDARITY DAY 2025 – DECEMBER 20

·       The United Nations (UN’s) International Human Solidarity Day is annually observed across the globe on 20th December to raise awareness about the importance of solidarity in tackling challenges such as poverty, inequality, and injustice.

·       2025 Theme: “Solidarity for Sustainable Development: Uniting Communities for a Shared Future”.

·       International Human Solidarity Day was observed for the first time on 20 December 2006.

 

4.     WORLD BASKETBALL DAY 2025 – DECEMBER 21

·       The United Nations (UN’s) World Basketball Day is annually observed across the globe on 21 December to mark the first basketball game in 1891 and highlighting basketball’s role in peace, sustainable development, social inclusion, and youth empowerment.

·       Basketball was invented on 21 December 1891 by Dr. James Naismith at the International YMCA Training School in Springfield, Massachusetts, USA, and the term “basketball” was coined by him in the same year.

·       World Basketball Day was observed for the first time on 21 December 2023.

·       Sustainable Development: The UNGA recognizes basketball as a catalyst for the 2030 Agenda, highlighting sport as a key enabler of sustainable development, especially Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 3 (Good Health and Well-being).

·       The FIBA Basketball World Cup is held every four years.

·       Basketball has been an Olympic sport since 1936, with women’s basketball debuting in 1976.

·       International Basketball Federation  (FIBA) Headquarters – Mies, Switzerland.

 

5.     WORLD MEDITATION DAY 2025– DECEMBER 21 

·       The United Nations (UN) observes World Meditation Day globally every year on December 21 

·       On November 29, 2024, the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) declared December 21 as World Meditation Day following the unanimous adoption of a resolution co-sponsored by six countries: India, Sri Lanka, Liechtenstein, Andorra, Mexico, and Nepal.

·       The resolution, introduced by Liechtenstein, was also co-sponsored by Bangladesh, Bulgaria, Burundi, the Dominican Republic, Iceland, Luxembourg, Mauritius, Monaco, Mongolia, Morocco, Portugal, and Slovenia.

·       The first-ever World Meditation Day was observed globally on December 21, 2024.

 

6.     NATIONAL MATHEMATICS DAY 2025 – DECEMBER 22

·       National Mathematics Day(NMD), celebrated annually on December 22 to mark the birth anniversary of Indian mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan and underscores the role of mathematics in human progress.

·       NNMD was introduced by former Prime Minister(PM) Manmohan Singh on 26 December 2011 at the University of Madras (Tamil Nadu, TN) to commemorate the 125th birth anniversary of mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan (born on 22 December 1887).

·       The first NMD was celebrated on 22 December 2012.

·       SASTRA Ramanujan Prize: -  Instituted in 2005, this annual USD 10,000 prize recognises outstanding contributions by individuals under the age of 32, honouring Ramanujan’s extraordinary achievements.

·       The 2025 SASTRA Ramanujan Prize was awarded to Dr. Alexander Smith of Northwestern University(USA).

 

7.     NATIONAL FARMER’S DAY 2025 – DECEMBER 23

·       National Farmer’s Day (KisanDiwas) is observed annually on December 23 to honour farmers’ contributions to India’s social and economic development and mark the birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Chaudhary Charan Singh, India’s 5th Prime Minister.

·       The first National Farmer’s Day (KisanDiwas) was observed on December 23, 2001.

·       2025 Chaudhary Charan Singh Awards Winners: Kisan Award: SatyawanSehrawat for contributions to agriculture and farmer welfare.

·       KrishiUtthan Award: Dr Devendra Yadav for agricultural upliftment.

·       Agricultural Entrepreneur Award: Fruvetech Private Limited for innovation in agriculture.

·       SevaRatna Award: Pratham Education Foundation for outstanding service.

·       KalamRatna Award: Harvir Singh for distinguished journalism.

 

8.     NATIONAL CONSUMER RIGHTS DAY 2025 – DECEMBER 24

·       National Consumer Rights Day, also known as Bharatiya Grahak Diwas or National Consumer Day, is annually observed across India on 24 December to promote understanding of consumer rights and responsibilities.

·       2025 Theme: “Efficient and Speedy Disposal through Digital Justice”.

·       The first-ever National Consumer Rights Day was observed on 24 December 1986.

·       The Consumer Protection Bill, 1986 was introduced to safeguard consumer interests and establish consumer councils and authorities for dispute resolution.

·       The Consumer Protection Act, 2019, which came into force on 20 July 2020, replaced the 1986 Act to modernise consumer dispute resolution, strengthen consumer protection, and address challenges arising from e-commerce and digital markets.

 

9.     GOOD GOVERNANCE DAY 2025 – DECEMBER 25

·       Good Governance Day, also known as ‘Sushasan Diwas’ in Hindi, is annually observed across India on 25th December to commemorate the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister (PM) Late Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the 10th PM of India.

·       In 2014, the Government of India (GoI) declared 25 December as Good Governance Day to honour the legacy of Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

·       The first Good Governance Day was observed on 25 December 2014.

·       The Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG), organised Good Governance Week 2025 as a nationwide campaign under the theme ‘Prashasan Gaon Ki Ore (Governance Towards Villages),’ aimed at taking governance to the grassroots level.

·       On 25th December 2025, Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi inaugurated the Rashtra Prerna Sthal on the occasion of the 101st birth anniversary of former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh (UP).

·       Introduced the QR-coded ‘Q Mark – DeshkaHaq’ to verify laboratories, hospitals, and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), along with ‘Quality Setu’, a ticket-based platform for secure and time-bound grievance redressal.

 

10. VEER BAL DIWAS 2025 – DECEMBER 26

·       Veer Bal Diwas is annually observed across India on 26th December to honor the martyrdom of the Sahibzadas – the four sons of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji, the 10th Sikh Guru, who sacrificed their lives in the 17th century.

·       On 9th January 2022, during the Prakash Purab of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji, Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi announced that 26th December would be celebrated as ‘Veer Bal Diwas’.

·       The first-ever Veer BalDiwas was observed on 26th December 2022.

·       Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar (PMRBP) 2025:  President of India Droupadi Murmu conferred the PMRBP 2025 on 20 children.

·       Bihar’s teenage batting prodigy, VaibhavSuryavanshi, has been honoured with the PMRBP, India’s highest civilian award for children, following his stellar performance in the Vijay Hazare Trophy at the age of 14.

 

11. HINDI LITTERATEUR VINOD KUMAR SHUKLA PASSED AWAY

·       Renowned Hindi litterateur and Jnanpith Award awardee Vinod Kumar Shukla passed away at the age of 88 years in Raipur, Chhattisgarh.

·       In 2025, he received the 59th Jnanpith Award, becoming the first writer from Chhattisgarh to receive India’s highest literary honour.

·       His literary journey began in 1971 with the publication of the poetry collection Lagbhag Jai Hind.

·       His prominent works include novels Naukar Ki Kameez, Deewar Mein Ek Khidki Rehti Thi, and Khilega to Dekhenge, poetry collections Lagbhag Jai Hind and Kavita Se Lambi Kavita, and the short story collection Pedon Par Kamra.

·       He was awarded the Sahitya Akademi Award in 1999 for ‘Deewar Mein Ek Khidki Rehti Thi’.

·       In 2023, he became the first Indian to receive the PEN/Nabokov Award for Achievement in International Literature.
