1.    PMMVY scheme crossed 1 crore beneficiaries
ü  Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) achieved a mark of reaching 1 crore (1,00,11,200) beneficiaries in India. The total amount disbursed under the scheme crossed Rs. 4,000 crores.
ü  PMMVY is a flagship scheme of the Government for Pregnant Women and Lactating Mothers (PW&LM). It is a direct benefit transfer (DBT) scheme under which PW&LM receive a cash benefit of Rs. 5,000 in three installments on fulfilling certain conditions.
2.    NEAT Scheme for Higher Education learning
ü  Union Ministry HRD has announced a new scheme named National Educational Alliance for Technology (NEAT) for better learning outcomes in higher education and is expected to be operational in early november 2019.
ü  The main objective of this scheme is to use Artificial Intelligence(AI) in making personalized learning and will be developed through Public-private partnership (PPP) model.

ü  5 days maiden trilateral exercise of Singapore, India and Thailand named SITMEX (Singapore-India-Thailand Maritime Exercise) was commenced at Port Blair.
2.       SCO exercise “Tsentr (centre) 2019”
ü  Opening ceremony of exercise “TSENTR 2019” which forms part of the Russian Armed Forces’ annual training cycle, under the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation(SCO) and Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), was conducted at the DONGUZ ranges  near Orenburg, Russia. 8 SCO member countries are participating .

ü  Indian Police Service (IPS) officer Chhaya Sharma who led the investigation of the 2012 Nirbhaya gangrape was selected for the 2019 Asia Society Game Changers Award along with six others by Asia Society, which is a leading educational organization.
2.       IBSF World Billiards Championship 2019
ü  India’s top billiards and snooker player, Pankaj Advani has won the 22nd world title of his career with the fourth consecutive IBSF (International Billiards & Snooker Federation) World Billiards title 2019  in Mandalay, Myanmar.
ü  Advani won the final with 6–2 scores against Nay Thway Oo of Myanmar.

1)       NPCI reduced merchant discount rate
ü  National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has rationalized merchant discount rate (MDR) on transactions with RuPay debit cards. The new rate will be effective from 20 October 2019.
ü  MDR has been revised to 0.60 percent on transactions above Rs 2,000. There will be a maximum of Rs 150 per transaction.
ü  Currently, MDR of 0.90 percent is charged on transactions above Rs 2,000. The maximum limit was fixed at Rs 1,000 per transaction.

1.        Swachhta Hi Seva 2019
ü  Narendra Modi launched nationwide campaign “Swachhta Hi Seva 2019”(SHS) in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh(UP). The theme for 2019 is ‘plastic waste awareness and management’.
ü  This SHS which means “Cleanliness is service” is observed from 11th September to October 2nd 2019 as part of the Swachh Bharat Mission.
2.        SBI revises service charges
ü  State Bank of India(SBI) has announced revision in charges of deposits and withdrawals that will be effective from October 1, 2019. The new revision is applicable to cash withdrawals, non-maintenance in Average Monthly Balance(AMB) and deposits.

ü  The President of India, Shri Ram Nath Kovind has inaugurated the National Youth Summit 2019 held in New Delhi.It was organized by Youth Awakening Mission
2)       Asian Development Bank (ADB) has approved $ 200 million loan to upgrade about 2,100 kilometers of rural roads to all-weather standards in Maharashtra.
3)       19th Annual Asian Achievers Awards 2019
ü  The founder and Chairman of Vedanta Resources LimitedAnil Agarwal (65) has been given the lifetime achievement award at the 19th  Annual Asian Achievers Awards 2019.
4)       Vijay Kumar Chopra elected as Chairman of PTI.
ü  Vijay Kumar Chopra, who is the Chief Editor of the Punjab Kesari Group of newspapers, was elected Chairman of PTI succeeding N Ravi, publisher and former Editor-in-Chief of The Hindu.
ü  Also Vineet Jain were elected as Vice Chairman of PTI.
5)       ISRO lost Contact with Vikram Lander
ü  The communication from Chandrayaan-2’s Vikram lander to ISRO  ground station was lost before its soft landing on the south pole of the Moon. The contact was lost when the lander was 2.1km away from the surface of the moon.
ü  Chandrayaan-2 was launched on July 22, 2019, from GSLV Mk-III, nicknamed ‘Bahubali’ from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC) in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh.Project consisted of 3 components namely the Orbiter, the Lander ‘Vikram’, and the Rover Pragyan (27kg).
6)       BKSP  successfully won U17 Girls Subroto Cup
ü  Bangladesh Krida Shiksha Prothishtan (BKSP) has successfully retained the 60th edition of the Under 17 Girls Subroto Cup International Football 2019 title by defeating Neelamani English School, Manipur with 4-0 scores in the final held in Ambedkar Stadium in New Delhi.
7)       Nehru Trophy for the year 2019
ü  Snakeboat Nadubhagam Chundan  clinched the 67th Edition of the Nehru Trophy 2019 in the boat race held at the Punnamada Lake in Alappuzha, Kerala.
8)       Ram Jethmalani, Senior lawyer, and a former union law minister has passed away at his home in Delhi after suffering from prolonged illness. He was 95.
9)       International Literacy Day (ILD) was observed on September 8, 2019 with the theme ‘Literacy and Multilingualism’.

ü  PM Narendra Modi inaugurated the first Metro Coach in Mumbai under the ‘Make in India’ initiative at Mumbai. He also launched Rs.19,000 crore worth metro projects..
2)       Akash missile project for Air Force
ü  To strengthen the Indian Air Force (IAF), the central government has approved the procurement of 6 squadrons of indigenous Akash Air Defense missile for the Air Force at a cost of Rs 5,000 crore. They will be deployed along the borders with Pakistan and China.

ü  The United States (US) and 10 Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) countries began their first Asean-US Maritime Exercise (AUMX) at the Sattahip Naval Base in Thailand.

1)       India’s longest electrified rail tunnel
ü  Vice President of India inaugurated the longest electrified railway tunnel (6.7km) between Cherlopalli and Rapuru in Andhra Pradesh.
2)       New logo of Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC)
ü  The Union Minister for Information & Broadcasting (I&B), Shri Prakash Javadekar has unveiled the new logo and certificate design of Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).
ü  The design of the new logo has been designed by designer Rohit Devgan in collaboration with the technical support team of National Securities Depository Limited (NSDL).

3)       CGHS Bhawan inaugurated
ü  Dr Harsh Vardhan inaugurated the Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) Bhawan in R K Puram in New Delhi.
ü  CGHS services should be made available in 100 cities by 2022. Under Ayushman Bharat, 150000 Health and Wellness Centres are planned to come up by 2022.

ü  “Global Happiness Survey” is conducted by Ipsos
ü  India is ranked 9th with 77% on happiness index among 28 global markets.
ü  Australia & Canada topped the Survey.
2.        India will overtake China as importer of coking coal
ü  As per Fitch Solutions Macro ResearchIndia will overtake China as the largest importer of coking coal by 2025. China also roughly produced two-thirds of global coking coal.
3.        SBI’s MD Anshula Kant Resigned
ü  She is now  appointment as the MD and Chief Financial Officer(CFO) of World Bank Group.
4.        IPS Vivek Kumar Johri takes over as Director-General of BSF
5.        India clinched SAFF U-15 Championship 2019
ü The India Under-15 team has defeated Nepal with 7-0 score in the final of the SAFF (South Asian Football Federation) U-15 Championship 2019 held in Kalyani Stadium, West Bengal.
6.        36th National Games
ü  The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) decided that 36th  National Games will be held in Goa from October 20 – November 4, 2020.

1.       IIP to covert Plastic waste into diesel
·        The Union Minister of Science and Technology Shri Harsh Vardhan, inaugurated a plant at the Indian Institute of Petroleum (IIP) in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, that converts plastic waste into diesel.

2.       World’s first ever facial BSID launched
·       India launched the world’s first ever Biometric Seafarer Identity Document (BSID) which captures the facial biometric data of seafarers.
·        BSID project was formed in collaboration with the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (CDAC), Mumbai.

3.       CoP of CITES held in Geneva
·       The 18th meeting of Conference of the Parties (CoP18) of Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) was held in Geneva, Switzerland.
·       183 CITES member nations participated in the meeting.
